Yashi Otaroi was born to the Oratori clan to the far east. Born the first son of the first wife, it was expected for the young Yashi to take up his father, Yarashi Oratoi, mantle as the head of the clan and ruler of the Otaroi domain. Unfortunately, Otaroi was not suited for the task, a fact both he and his father concluded, and his stepbrother Odata Otaroi was given command of the Clan.
