The Adventures of Takara Kane.

Born on the 1st Sun of the 5th Umbral Moon this little girl was given the name Soii by the headmaster of the orphanage the day she was left there. Soii was conceived from the drunken one night stand that never should have happened between a high class prostitute and casino singer miqo’te mother and a criminally involved, to put it lightly, Lalafell father. So when she was born, she was dropped in an orphanage immediately and lived there until the time she was 12. She was bullied, greatly, by the other kids and some of the adults at the orphanage for being too short to be a real miqo’te and/or being an unwanted half breed with a whore for a mother, and that being the reason she was in the orphanage and had yet to be adopted. When she was 11 she met a drunken Tano Kane; a weapon-smith and tinkerer who saved her from a handful of boys at the orphanage that had cornered her in the backstreets of Ul’dah and had plans to rough her up. After he scared the boys off, Soii helped Tano get back to his inn room and waited for him to sober up so that she could thank him properly. After a brief conversation with a sobering up Tano, he decided to teach her how to take care of herself. He taught her how to survive, con her way to getting things that she wanted, and introduced her to metalworking and weapon-smithing. Soii changed her name to Takara and took on the last name of her new mentor, Kane. Takara learned the art of metal working quickly and early on, she began to make her own creations, the first of which, a mammet she named R.I.O.T. When not creating far-fetched designs and attempting to build them, she helped Tano, who had for a seven years been the head engineer on an airship for a sky pirate crew keep the ship up to date and repaired. In this, she learned the ins and outs of airship mechanics! When she was 19, Tano got arrested and put away for life. This was a turning point for her as Tano had become a father figure for her and with him gone, she was now, officially, on her own… Well, not really. She took over the head engineer position of the sky pirate crew Tano was affiliated with and instead of simply keeping it repaired as he did, she is constantly working on upgrades… though some of them are a BIT unconventional. But it keeps her fed and got her an amazing workshop!
Takara stands at 4 fulms 3 ilms tall and is a bit of an oddity. There is no mistaking the miqo’te blood in her as she has the ears and tail of one, though it has been speculated that her height could be due to the idea that she is just a runt. In fact, because of the lalafell blood that also runs in her veins, she just held onto that portion of her father’s genes and stayed short in stature looking more like a miniature miqo’te than a lalafell with ears and a tail.
Her build is that of one that has worked with metal but it not necessarily an armorer or blacksmith, she is muscled where she needs it and one would almost call it a step below athletic. She has a slim waist and some curvature to her form (the miqo’te genes had to kick in somewhere, right?) though it would rarely, if ever, be seen as she is usually always wearing her oversized engineer’s clothes. She is also not particularly busty (DAMN YOU MIQO GENES! You let her down!) as an adult and was a late bloomer so for a long time through her childhood and adolescence she was mistaken for a boy until she grew her hair out and her chest sprouted in her late teens.
Her hair is strawberry blonde, though it seems to have more of a rose color in it in certain light and fades to a lighter blonde at the lower third of it. The fur on her ears and tail mimics this, with that strawberry-rose blonde near the base and that lighter shade on the tips of her ears.
Her complexion is clear and her skin is on the paler side and the only distinguishing marks that are easily seen are the light freckles on her cheeks and the small scar that sits on the side of her neck, though she usually keeps her hair flipped to that side in order to hide it to avoid answering questions about it. Her eyes stand out as they have been described to her as the same deep blue in the middle of the ocean when the sun hits it and her thick dark eyelashes make them pop even more when she is giving you a judgmental stare.
