Basic Info

Jilan is tall for a Miqo'te, with coal-toned skin and hair to match. A pair of yellow eyes gleam from her shadowed form. A thin face is accented with white tattooing, the mark of her Coming of Age within her tribe. Save for the scar over her eye - the result of a hunting accident as a kit, Jilan is otherwise unblemished.

She will never be found in armor if she can help it. She finds it an inconvenience, and therefore doesn't bother with it. At any given time, she'll be in some garb or other that is loose-fitting and easy to move it. She prides herself on her agility. A bow will never be far from her fingers, either.

History

Jilan was born to a tribe of Keepers of the Moon located in a remote section of the Black Shroud. Life was fairly uneventful before Dalamud's fall. As the middle child of a gaggle of girls, Jilan was mostly overlooked in favor of either her older sisters, Amreen and Mali, or her youngest sister, Rahiq. Her tribe lived by the plentiful bounty the Shroud provided, and they gathered together beneath every full moon to offer thanks to Menphina. It was of the tribe's belief that, without Her blessing, the forest would wither.

It was a year shy of Jilan's Rite of Passage into adulthood when Dalamud set the sky aflame. The memories of the wood burning around her are something that has etched its way into her mind. She, and her tribe, could only wonder what they had done to displease their goddess and guardian so greatly. Unable to remain where they once settled, her tribe was forced to move elsewhere. As they soon discovered, it was much closer to a Hyur settlement - a village the locals called Hyrstmill. A cool reception from the villagers, coupled with frequent encounters with Wood Wailers, meant it didn't take long for the tribe to come to a conclusion. They lay blame for what they call the Great Burning upon Gridania, and those who claim citizenship. Were it not for them, they believe, Dalamud would not have released such a terrible beast to unleash its wrath upon the Shroud.

Jilan shares her tribe's sentiments. She, and a few others of what remained of the tribe in the wake of the Calamity, took to preying upon those passing through the woods, merchants and travelers alike. They would take what they pleased and give their ill-gotten goods to other Miqo'te tribes dwelling in the Shroud. Success was theirs for a few years, until a group of Wood Wailers captured the gang. Luckily, for Jilan, she managed to escape. Her friends weren't so blessed and, as far as she is aware, still locked up in a jail in Gridania. Time will tell if this remains true, however.
