[hide]Basic Info
Ryoko is a tracker and combat medic for the Witch Hunters, the clandestine arm of the Holy See. Apprenticed to her older sister, Mishka Stormsong, the siblings are tasked with hunting heretics and enemies of the church beyond Ishgard's borders. Often this involves acting in disregard of local laws and treaties, so all operations are done in complete secrecy. As such, the siblings pose as traveling performers from Gridania. To play the part, Ryoko has taken up singing, and learned a great number of local dances. She and Mishka can most often be found in markets and taverns, keeping an ear open for any word about their current target.
History
Ryoko Stormsong, born Rhiokoh Aliapoh, is the second and youngest daughter of Ishgardian knight Barrett Stormsong. Her mother was a Miqo'te girl from Gridania who died from complications during Ryoko's birth. After their mother's death, Barrett returned to Ishgard with his daughters and took up residence in Dragonhead. There he raised them alone for fourteen years, whilst serving under the command of House Fortemp's own Lord Haurchefant.
Despite Haurchefant's best efforts to accommodate the family, Barrett and his daughters carried a poor reputation in many circles. Never having married Ryoko's mother in accordance with Ishgardian tradition, Barrett's children were generally seen as illegitimate, and some went as far as to claim he had sacrificed his honor to a foreign whore.
It was, perhaps, inevitable that Ryoko would dream of one day becoming a knight of Ishgard. She and her elder sister Mishka grew up watching their father fend off the Dravanian horde, and it was all they'd ever known. As Mishka approached the age of apprenticeship, Barrett called in every favor he could to find a place for her in the holy forces of Ishgard, but none would take her. None except one group which had approached Barrett, expressing interest in the girl. The Witch Hunters, as they were known, were an order of spies, assassins, and inquisitors who operated under a looser interpretation of Halone's doctrine than most. Their interest stemmed from the girl's small stature, Miqo'te hunting instincts, and the fact that she looked nothing like an Ishgardian: All excellent traits for a field agent.
Barrett was skeptical. The Witch Hunters had a reputation for operating illegally in foreign lands, and rarely shying away from morally ambiguous actions. With Mishka's dream on the verge of ending, however, Barrett saw no choice but to hand her over to the Witch Hunters. A few short years later, Ryoko followed in her sister's footsteps.
Misc. Information
- Unless you are a member of the Church, Ryoko will probably lie to you about her profession.
- If you're looking for Ryoko, your first stops should be either the tavern at the Observatory, or the war room in Camp Dragonhead.
- Ryoko will, on occasion, use a fake name.
