Iskierka has very few memories of Ala Mhigo. So few that she feels only an abstract attachment. Her father, a mystic of middling renown, swept her and her older brother away to escape the Garlean occupation. She has lived her life moving from camp to camp. During her time in Little Ala Mhigo, Iskierka showed a knack for magic when her "imaginary friend" manifested as a vague aetheric cloud. She began studying with the few books her father managed to keep. As she studied, it was obvious that her father was into some things best left untouched. While her father tried to shelter her from danger, he himself had been touched by madness. One day he snapped. He attacked Iskierka and began carving occult symbols into her face. They found him chanting incantations over her, as she laid silent and distant with shock. Her brother incapacitated him, and put Iskierka into the care of the camp healers. He took their father out into the desert and burned him alive. From then on, Iskierka was raised by her older brother, who found work as a minor.
