Appearance
He looks like most other Elezen, keeping up with the tall and slender routine. As far as height goes, he is shorter than the average Elezen. His build is slim and toned overall, and his abilities lie more in his agility and endurance more than his physical strength. While he has no formal training regimen, he stays active enough with work and leisure. His skin is a sort of medium brown, somewhere in the middle of the black/white spectrum; and his face, shoulders, and back are dotted with dark freckles. His body is relatively smooth overall, save for some sparse patches of body hair in the usual humanoid places. A shaggy mass of black hair adorns the top of his head, a sort of casual bed-head that he's allowed to be part of his image. His body does not allow him to grow a full beard, so instead he does the best he can within reason, keeping sideburns that run down the length of his face.

History
A Gridanian citizen by birth, he was raised in the Black Shroud alongside two brothers. His father, a conjurer, pressured him into following in his footsteps. While Alderique took a liking to conjury, he was discouraged by someone else making his decisions, and what he thought was a rigid, stifling environment. In his late teenage years, he abandoned his formal training without his father's approval.

Influenced by a traveling young man he met, he began to crave excitement and adventure. Hearing stories of the rest of the world, he developed a wanderlust that could only be sated with travel. He left Gridania and made his way to La Noscea along with his new traveling companion, developing a romantic fling along the way. In time their relationship fizzled, and Alderique stayed behind in Limsa Lominsa while his friend continued on his own journeys.

In Limsa Lominsa, he found work wherever he could get it. He cooked, fished, labored for merchants, mined, and sailed. In time, his experiences lead him to develop a taste for the finer things in life: food, entertainment, wealth, and luxury. Needing gil to fuel his newfound Hedonism, he began to focus more seriously on developing his wealth, getting smarter about his financial choices and what jobs he took on.

After several years in Limsa, he decided to try his luck in Ul'dah, where he hopes he'll catch some fortune, though so far his efforts are not proving as fruitful as he leads on. Recently, new friendships have begun to cause him to question himself, and his vulnerability has become very apparent. He's developed a bit of a malaise that he cannot quite figure out, and he is beginning to rethink his current course of action.

Personality
Alderique is a bit of a performer. In groups and among people he does not know well, he can be quite loud and arrogant. He's not afraid to speak highly of himself or speak his mind, and he is usually ready to dish out a comeback for any criticism he receives. He can be very flirtatious, both with men and women, but it is often just part of his act with the latter.

Behind closed doors, and with closer company, he can be a soft, thoughtful person. He carries with him a certain level of insecurity and vulnerability that he reveals to few. Someone who gets to know him might be surprised at what kind of person he really is. Though he does love collecting wealth, he is very happy to share with others he likes, be they friend or beggar.
