Corvidae Sanguinaire

House Norsailles
House Noirsailles consisted of Lord Dumant and Lady Elisette along with their three sons, the oldest Armande, the middle Barton and the youngest Corvidae. It was one of the lower houses of Ishgard, not that wealthy or high of stature, but enough to have some influence on the politics of the Holy See. When Corvidae was a child, his mother, Elisette, was in an accident which caused her to lose her hearing. Humiliated by this, she became very withdrawn, but slowly learned to read lips as she observed people from afar. However, because Elisette was from a better family than Dumant and thus was the one of the two who was the most influential, her withdrawal caused House Noirsailles to lose its voice in Ishgardian politics.
Lord Dumant could do nothing but observe as the other houses pushed him away and ignored his council, and it became apparent to him how corrupt the system had gotten. Losing the power he once had, what little House Noirsailles ever had, he was now but a bystander and could do naught to rectify any wrongs that was made. Thus he looked to other ways in hopes of salvaging any dignity his family had left. He promised his oldest son, Armande, away to a daughter of a house of higher stature to keep up appearances, but in truth he only did so to keep a foot inside Ishgardian politics and sent the information coming his way to those called "heretics".
History
Fall of the Noirsailles
After having lost alot of his power, Dumant had become desperate and tried to cling onto whatever he could to keep some of it left, but the more he realized how corrupt the Holy See was, the more he realized that he was on the wrong side of the Dragonsong war. Ishgard did nothing for his family, not raising a finger to help his house, but would rather just cut them off as House Noirsailles was seen as a "weak link". Thus he turned to Lady Iceheart who showed him the truth. Dumant and Elisette found themselves choosing the side of Lady Iceheart and worked as double agents, passing information from Ishgard to Lady Iceheart's followers.
This did not go unnoticed though. Their middle son, Barton, overheard one evening a conversation between his parents and a couple of these heretics. Barton went to his brothers to inform them of his discoveries, feeling betrayed by their own parents. To his surprise, Armande was quick to defend them and joined their side, which only angered Barton even more. Corvidae, however, was at a loss. But Barton knew what had to be done, and thus went to the Temple Knights with the information he had gotten of his parents' treachery.
The coming months meant the end of House Noirsailles. Armande and his parents tried to flee to the Dravanian Hinterlands, but were hunted down by the Temple Knights and executed for betraying the Holy See. Corvidae had gone into hiding, nowhere to be found, leaving only Barton left. Though commended for his loyalty to the city, he was left with nothing. House Noirsailles was dissolved, Barton drowned his sorrows in alcohol and eventually took his own life. Only Corvidae was left, where ever he might have gone to...
The Bloody Crow
When Corvidae was a young boy, he already then realized the insignificance he had. He was the youngest of three brothers, Armande being the one who was supposed to continue their family's legacy. Barton enjoyed his family's fortune and was somewhat of a troublemaker, bringing girls home all the time, getting drunk and tried to live life to the fullest. But Corvidae had his books. He quickly became fascinated by the legends of old and the mysteries of the Aether. He was sent to the Saint Endalim Scholasticate to study and quickly found himself to have a natural affinity for magic. Because of this, his tutors had alongside his parents had decided to educate young Corvidae in the ways of a Priest of the Holy See should he fulfill his education with high grades.
Corvidae did not agree with the life chosen for him. He had a natural sense of curiousity, a strong willpower and a wish for freedom that his tutors could not contain, no matter how much they tried to, but he was a good student and quickly became skillfull in the arts of magic. However, he was also somewhat of a lonely child, not having any friends, but liked to follow in the heels of his older brothers and observe them as they grew up. He was not blind to the strain his father underwent after his mother's accident, though was always told not to worry about such matters, as he was too young to understand it anyways. But he did understand.
The day Barton gathered his brothers to tell them of their parents' dealings with the heretics, Corvidae saw how torn his brothers were from eachother. Barton threatening to go to the Temple Knights, Armande defending their parents, and Corvidae felt caught in between. He knew what this meant. His family would not survive this. And so he went into hiding, knowing exactly where to go to avoid any sort of encounter, as a result of his explorative nature as a child. Corvidae became invisible in the crowd and fled the city by jumping onto a merchant's caravan that lead out of the Holy See. He ended up in Limsa Lominsa, though alone but not afraid. He rid himself of his family name and took upon a new one to cover his true origins - Corvidae Sanguinaire.
From then to now
Corvidae joined the Arcanist's Guild as a natural choice of path, learning to refine his affinity for magic and put it to use. While staying in Limsa Lominsa, he made connections to people who could gather information from Ishgard, and through such learned of what had happened to his family. The dissolvement of House Noirsailles, the execution of his parents. the disappearance of Armande, and the death of Barton. Corvidae was devastated, blaming his parents for what had befallen them, finding it incredibly foolish to endanger the entire family by cooperating with heretics. However, he decided to focus on his new life and finished his training as an Arcanist and later joined the Maelstrom as a researcher of Primal activity and Aetheric energies across Eorzea.
