Character
Backstory
Khachi was born the only daughter of the chieftain of a small, nomadic Xaela tribe in Doma. With her mother having passed away shortly after birth, her father was left as the only one to care for her as she grew up. Although he had been hoping for a son to take over as chieftain, Khachi's father loved and cared for her just the same. From a young age, he trained Khachi in the way of the lance- just as he would have done if she had been born male. A large part of her everyday life during her younger years was the hours spent training with her father.
Although Khachi's father tried his best to please the people of his tribe, a large number of those under him detested the kind and gentle way in which he dealt with other tribes. Rather than raiding or forcing settlements of Raen and other Xaela tribes to give them supplies, he opted to trade peacefully- their tribe even gaining a reputation for high-quality forged spears, leather, and hide armor. On the night of Khachi's 15th birthday- shortly after dinner, her father started to have intermittent surges of pain shoot through his body. Eventually, it went from being a phasing pain to a constant one- with the tribe's shaman unable to figure out exactly what was causing it as the man writhed in pain on his bed. It took only a few hours before, right in front of Khachi's eyes, her father passed away in one of the most painful ways possible.
The death of her father hit Khachi hard. He was the only person she had any connection to in the entire tribe ... And he was gone. A few months after his passing, she found a note from her father stating that, should anything happen to him, he wanted Khachi to continue as chieftain in his stead. The presentation of this fact aroused both anger and skepticism in the entire tribe. They didn't want a female to lead the tribe- let alone the daughter of the peace-loving chieftain. Little did Khachi know exactly what they were willing to do to ensure that.
That night, Khachi just couldn't sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, the image of her writhing, dying father plagued her thoughts- as it had for the past months since his passing. In an attempt to keep her mind busy, Khachi wandered out to the training field to practice with her lance- unaware of what was brewing. Soon enough, she heard footsteps closing in from behind, and turned around to see three of the tribe's best soldiers closing in on her. At that moment, she knew exactly what was happening.
She could do nothing but run. The teenage Auri disappeared into the forest as fast as her legs could take her- abandoning all her possessions, and the only place she could call home.
Eorzea
Khachi spent months on her own, betrayed by her tribe, and slandered as a criminal that poisoned her father's food in order to take his place as chieftain. Every Xaela tribe was out to kill her and claim the bounty on her head, not to mention the glory of taking down the one who murdered her peace-loving father. With Doma no longer safe, Khachi had only one place to turn to- Eorzea.
With nothing but a lance and a rusty suit of chainmail armor to her name, Khachi boarded a Hyur-run trade ship bound for Limsa Lominsa- paying for her fare by providing security and grunt work for the crew. She spent the first few months after her arrival doing odd jobs- clearing pests from a farm, providing security for caravans, and so on. Eventually, she made her way to Ul'dah, where she enlisted in the Immortal Flames for a more reliable source of work.
The Calamity
Like many others, Khachi offered her lance to the Eorzean Alliance during the Battle of Carteneau- the largest, and most bloody battle she had ever experienced in her life. When Dalamud split open, revealing the Elder Primal; Bahamut, she did something that she had promised to never do since fleeing her tribe in Doma; run. It was the choice to flee, away from the flames, away from her comrades, and away from the battlefield that spared Khachi her life.
Current
Alongside her work with the Immortal Flames, Khachi has taken on the role of an adventurer- exploring, taking the odd contract for some extra coin, and traveling around Eorzea when she isn't needed at the Hall of Flames.
Appearance
Khachi is a relatively short, lightly-built Xaela Au Ra with dark purple hair that, when down, trails down to her lower back. She often wears it in a ponytail. Though her equipment changes from time-to-time, she often wears a chainmail cuirass with goatskin gloves and boots, and a pair of cotton trousers underneath. She carries a lance with her at all times.
Personality
Khachi is a rather silent and independent girl. She will not speak unless she absolutely has to, refuses to rely on the support of anybody, and carries a constantly irritated and annoyed attitude about her. Despite her exterior attitude, however, Khachi is still a teenaged girl on the inside- one that is still trying to cope with the loss of her father and the betrayal of her tribe. What it would take for her to lower her proverbial shield and express that side of her, however, is unknown.
Combat
General
Khachi is highly skilled in the use of lances, spears, and other types of polearms- both from a mounted position on a Chocobo, and on foot- with the latter being her specialty. She invokes a unique fighting style taught to her by her father, which combines traditional lancer techniques with those of a lost Au Ra tribe. Alongside her lance skills, Khachi is moderately skilled in the use of shortswords, longswords, daggers, and battleaxes.
