Neki Nurai (pronounced: neh-key noo-rye), was born in the Central Shroud, in 1560. She lived a simple life until the fires of the Calamity took her mother and father from her. After the tragedy she moved with her grandfather to Limsa Lominsa to start a new life. Years later she returned to Gridania to hone her skill in archery even more and to start her life as an adventurer. As she began to make a name for herself around the Black Shroud, Neki was recruited into The Scions of the Seventh Dawn, for her combat prowess and possession of the Echo.

Basic Info

Neki is not like other Miqo'te for she is mixed, due to her mother being a Keeper and her father being a Seeker. Growing up she was taught different views of life. From her mother who showed her that family and home is everything, while her father told tales of his travels and how it can broaden one's mind, and later on when her grandfather entered her life he taught Neki that she has to fight to protect those close to her, literally. All these different lessons made Neki to who and where she is today but one stuck close which was her grandfather's. So at a young age Neki began to train in archery for when she grew older and more skilled with the bow so she could join the Gods' Quiver to protect her family and homeland. Though after the Calamity and losing not only her parents but home as well, Neki vowed for when she became of age she would protect all of Eorzea by becoming an adventurer and helping all her people.

Appearance

Height: Standing at only 4 fulms and 8 ilms, Neki is considerably short even for a Miqo'te. Most other races tower over her for the only ones who can match her short stature is female Au Ra.

Weight: At 102 ponze most of Neki's weight is proportionally in her chest, thighs and hips. Neki also has weight through muscle from many hours of training to keep her body in shape.

Body: She may be petite but her figure is more a hourglass shape since her bust and hips are evenly proportioned while her waist is narrow, making her hips more defined and giving a slightly more curvy appearance compared to those around her age.

Complexion: Neki's skin is pale, yet smooth and flawless like porcelain. Due to keeping her distance while fighting, she has little to no scars. She does however occasionally have blisters on her hands if she is using her bow for far too long without gloves. Her pale skin does have a flaw, for she is extremely prone to sunburn.

Face: Due to her age Neki has a youthful appearance. Her face is more of a round shape with full cheeks and a small chin. On her cheeks and forehead she bears blue-grey striped marking. Since she wears heavy mascara Neki's large, ice blue eyes pop more so even though her pupils takes up most of her eyes. Her eyebrows are short and skinny, so if Neki has bangs or wears a hat it's hard to see them. She has a small nose and when seen on the side it doesn't protrude out much. Neither thick or thin for Neki's lips are perfectly in-between and always colored with light pink lipstick.

Hair: Neki has beautiful wavy white hair, which she was born with. If her hair isn't kept in a ponytail, Neki prefers it to be shoulder length or shorter to avoid her hair getting tangled with the arrows in her quiver. Though Neki likes to change her hair constantly, she likes to keep her natural wavy look.

Tail: Her tail matches the same color of her hair, a luminous white. It may not be wavy akin to her hair though it's long and fluffy, that is well over 2 fulms long. Neki takes great care of tail much like the hair atop her head, washing and brushing it to give it a nice shine.

Fashion: With casual wear Neki prefers a more feminine appearance by wearing dresses, blouses, skirts, stockings and boots. While for combat attire she likes clothing that will allow her to move with ease, so it has to be light weight and flexible so cloth, leather or chainmail is preferred. Neki doesn't mind showing a bit of skin but wishes to be not far too much for she is old-fashioned. Either casual or combat she likes to wear clothing that is only in pink or at least has a touch of pink.

Jewelry: Neki always wears earring, rings and necklaces but is rarely seen with bracelets since she mostly wears long sleeved clothing. She loves jewelry adorned with flowers, hearts or gems held in silver or gold. She even likes her clothing embellished with some sort of gemstones. No matter what she wears Neki will always don a pastel purple clasp on her left ear, she never takes it off for it was a gift from her mother.

Behavior

Personality: Fragile and shy, Neki has difficuly letting others become close to her for she lives in a shell much like a crab to protect herself from the harsh world. It takes time for her to be-friend others for she truly doesn't wish to shun out everyone, even if she fears not being accepted by others but doesn't wish to be alone. Though don't assume that due to her distant nature she is cold-hearted when she is actually a kind and caring person. Once she becomes comfortable to those around her, Neki will begin to slowly draw out her shell and show her true self which is warm, affectionate, loving and giving to those close to her. Those who are dear to Neki will have her loyalty but those who she really cares for will gain her undying loyalty to the point where its hard for her to find fault with those who gained her extreme trust. Much like her loyalty Neki will protect her friends but her family and very dear friends will see her over-protective nature that Neki will do anything to ensure they are safe, even if it costs her life to do so. Even after becoming friends with Neki she will never reveal too much about herself for she doesn't want to burden others with her own problems even though she will always be there to hear out her friend's. Being a excessive worrier, she constantly worries about anything and everything which makes her awfully pessimistic, to the point where she will always see the worst of any situation. It should be noted that Neki can be terribly touchy and sensitive so its best to tread with caution for her feelings can be easily hurt even if it was never meant to be. Her sensitive side causes her to tear up easily from the smallest little thing that makes her feel happy or sad and Neki's sensitivities makes her a sentimental softie for anything can jar her memory whether good or bad from a particular scent, going through old pictures, to certain places. She can also be temperamental since her emotions are always running rampant due to she follows by what she feels at any given moment. Deep down inside, Neki wishes nothing more than to explore the world without her protective shell but her own timid and fearful attitude is what keeps her inside.

Demeanor: Neki may seem friendly with gentle smiles when she is actually shy and reserved. Regardless of this she can easily mesh with people from all walks of life, though it takes her long for her to form close relationships. When it comes to the other races she is more comfortable around Plainsfolk, Midlanders and both Wildwood and Duskwright compared to the other races except for her fellow Miqo'te. This is due to teasing and rejection while growing up, for she became more cautious around Keepers and later Seekers. Neki tries to not let her prejudices get in the way of helping those in need, for if someone is in need of assistance she will always be the first to rise to the call.

Voice: She often talks nervously when around new people until she feels comfortable where she will talk more fluidly but still retaining some of her nervous speech. Her tone of voice is more soft, which can be an issue for she is often forced to speak up.

Quirks: Whenever she is extremely nervous Neki has the tendency to stutter her speech, shake uncontrollably and constantly touch her tail. Neki will often yawn and unknowingly dose off though not out of boredom but due to her unnatural sleeping habits she was born with.

Religion: Growing up Neki was taught the teachings of both Azeyma, the Warden and Menphina, the Lover. Yet she prays more often to Menphina than Azeyma. She will also at times pray to her guardian, Oschorn, the Wanderer for safe travels and so his command of the wind can guide her arrows.

Intelligence: Never having a formal education Neki isn't particularly academically smart although, she was taught about the world outside her forest home from her father, who even taught her how to read and write. Neki is more known for her knowledge regarding how to react quickly in combat and being able to easily read others based on their emotions to know if a person is trustworthy or not.

Powers and Abilities

Archery: Ever since she could remember Neki had an interest in archery, for she saw beauty and grace when seeing arrows fly. She would often watch and learn from afar for she was much too young to hold a bow of her own until her ninth nameday when her grandfather gifted her a short bow along with a quiver and arrows made for a child. After that day she would practice diligently to hone her skills and later be considered a child prodigy. Now, ten years later her once hobby is now used for her way of life.

Song Weaving: One day Neki was singing in the Twelveswood when a moogle names Pukno Poki came to her from following her beautiful voice. Upon seeing a bow on her back Pukno Poki asked if Neki ever wished to become a bard and told her that he could teach her as long as Neki promised to return often to sing songs for him. Neki agreed to the moogle's proposition and Pukno Poki told her how ballads sung and played from the soul can become support that can strengthen the power of her allies. After showing much promise Pukno Poki exclaimed how he waited many moons for someone like Neki then gifting her a harp along with a special charm called a soulstone, which contained the memories of past bards. Since that day Neki still uses the harp Pukno Poki gave her and keeps the soulstone close to her heart.

Hand to Hand: A few years before taking up archery Neki's grandfather, N'izem began to teach her pugilism after witnessing for himself the bullying Neki was succumbed to by the nearby Keeper children. Irritated he can't always be there to protect his precious granddaughter, N'izem began to show Neki how to defend herself with hand-to-hand combat. Over the years N'izem taught her more advanced techniques although she never truely mastered her grandfather's combat style for she became more dedicated to archery. Her training dis stop however when she left her grandfather's home to pursue the life as an adventurer. Though from time to time she will practice the lesson's her grandfather showed her.
