Basic Info

Born to Ala Mhigan migrants in Wineport, his family carved out a living in the 1550s (6AE) providing support and protection to the oft-ignored vineyards. Harper was encouraged by his parents to learn a trade or seek some form of education - to avoid embroiling himself in combat or conflict. When he was old enough, just after his 17th namesday, Harper moved into the city to learn the ways of metallurgy. It became apparent that Harper possessed an aptitude for smithing, and spent the best part of eight summers practising his craft. His father died in 1577, shortly before the battle at Cartaneau Flats, falling at the hands of kobolds. In the aftermath, Harper begged his mother to move to the relative safety of Limsa and live with him. The chaos and uncertainty scared him - he didn't want to lose another parent. His mother - stubborn and steadfast, and not one to shy away from a fight - refused and remains in Wineport to this day.

Harper is an inquisitive man, with a thirst for knowledge, and he harbours a desire to learn more about his heritage and his parents' city of origin, Ala Mhigo. Despite reservations about leaving his mother behind, Harper has decided to travel to Thanalan and seek out his displaced kinsmen that inhabit Little Ala Mhigo in an attempt to feel closer to his roots.
