Appearance
Fluffy black hair with curled ends, lavender eyes with long lashes, a slender figure with a small amount of curve — one could swear that this hyur was just another boy with a pretty face, if it weren't for her rather ample chest, that is. Despite this, Velous is androgynous to boot with her facial features and body type, she often shifts between presenting herself as either genders.
Her charming appearance is more for her professional front. When she is alone, or with close friends, then she tends to look a little more... disheveled. With unkempt hair, lazily buttoned up blouses and clothes in general that are one size too big-- she becomes the epitome of laziness.
As a mercenary, she dons a guise of clothing and armor coloured white to match her naturally platinum blonde hair. She also masks her face to hide her true identity in an effort to avoid a certain group of people who would stoop to hurting those she cares for to get to her.
Voice
Velous has a naturally boyish voice with a slight accent, which pitch changes depending on her appearance. Her voice claim is Erica Mendez, prime Vel examples would be Haruka Tenou and Ryuko Matoi.
The best word to use to describe Velous would be “enigmatic”, she is insightful and knows a lot more than she’s willing to tell, one who is well aware of what is going on around her. She’s generally an easygoing, down to earth individual who can keep composed in even the most stressful of situations. There is little she fears and her determination is unwavering-- once she sets her mind on something then she’ll never give up on it. She highly values freedom, life and bonds over all and would do anything to assure the protection of all three.
Despite her level head, Velous is prone to fits of fury and anguish if she is pushed over the edge. She tends to suppress her anxieties and insecurities to keep up a strong front for those around her, this can be her downfall during the periods of time where the emotions she bottles up threaten to overflow.

History
Her story begins in the peaceful isolation of a home hidden away in the Far Eastern mountains, where a rather introverted, but happy, family resided. Not long into their marriage did the father, an Othardian pirate and the mother, a Sharlayan scholar bear a child — a daughter they named Violaine. Her mother was one who studied glamours and she had brought one of her test subjects with her; an orphan named Seren.
The two grew up together and formed a strong, familial bond to the point where they were inseparable. Violaine's interaction with the outside world was limited to family members that visited, along with her father's former crew-- but she didn't mind, she was happy with her family and Seren, spending her childhood diligently studying old tomes, multiple forms of combat and exploring the wilderness of her home's mountain.
A few moons after Violaine's fifteenth nameday, the family's peaceful life was torn apart by vengeful steel; a crew of pirates seeking the father's blood had finally managed to track down his home and his family. Among those pirates was a man named Uvall, who had his own vendetta against the blood that runs through the family's veins. Violaine and Seren were forced to escape into the mountain's woods, distraught to leave their parents behind to be cornered by pirates.
Uvall was the only one to pursue them and delivered a lethal blow of a powerful lightning spell unto Violaine, which struck her in the back and sent her tumbling down the mountain. Seren rushed to her side and in desperation to save her life, Seren transferred her aether unto Violaine's damaged form before the Lifestream could claim her beloved.
With Seren gone and the healed Violaine unconscious, Uvall found what was left of her and took her away to Eorzea, intentions unknown.
Violaine woke up within the care of a Miqo’te thaumaturge who went by the name Deva. Utterly shattered over the loss of her love and family, Violaine took moons to recover, both physically and mentally — though she never fully recovered with the latter. She didn't question why or how she ended up in Eorzea and with Deva at first, but the Miqo'te would eventually explain that she saved her during an investigation of a portal of voidsent energy opening within Thanalan.
Given the circumstances, Deva decided to keep Violaine under her wing so she could keep a watchful eye on her. This lead to Violaine eventually joining the thaumaturge guild, encouraged by her Miqo'te guardian in an attempt to spark the appreciation for life within the girl once again by studying the art of thaumaturgy. Violaine remained withdrawn and antisocial at first, so no one other than Deva knew of her origins and after talking to her, they didn't really want to. She gradually came out of her shell, developing a strange and capricious personality. She stayed and studied thaumaturgy for three summers, sitting at the top of her class despite her eccentricity (more than likely due to her lack of a social life).
For unknown reasons, Violaine just up and left one day. With little information to work on, her disappearance spurred rumors among her peers — ranging from dark to just plain old ridiculous, mostly centering around Deva's own disappearance which happened a mere moon before. Since no one was particularly close to Violaine, people eventually grew bored of the gossip and forgot them over time. But the girl would reappear again, seemingly out of thin air, at Compagnie d'Dravania where she was hired as a desk agent and introduced herself as Vio. Over the year, Vio worked her way up the ranks and into the company's leader's heart.
