Brandon was the second and youngest son born into the upper class family within Ala Mhigo. Following the Garlean occupation, his family abandoned their home and wealth, fleeing to the settlement that would later become Little Ala Mhigo. His father returned to join the rebellion in Gyr Abania, and subsequently lost his life to imperials. His mother would meet her end as a result of the Calamity years later.

Brandon abandoned Little Ala Mhigo, his elder brother, and their cause following the refugees coup to summon a primal. He traveled to Limsa Lominsa and successfully made his way into the ranks of the Marauders Guild. During a simple, routine training exercise, he lost himself to the sudden affliction known as the "Inner Beast."

Brandon was sent away among the Roegadyn people in hopes of learning how to properly control it.
