Appearance

Zelan is a young man in his early twenties who stands approximately 5 fulms, 10 ilms tall and weighs roughly 165 ponze; he has blonde hair and blue eyes. He keeps his hair between short and shaggy and is typically dressed in costumes embroidered or adorned with metals, gems, or other eye-catching objects. He has adopted a wide variety of styles from his travels and loves to experiment with clothing on and off the stage. Though content to spend all his days in costume, Zelan occasionally leaves the stage-wear for what he considers fashion-forward (though others may debate that), everyday attire. On the battlefield, Zelan loves to show off as though he were back on the stage; his battle gear is light and flowing and armored in only the right places to allow him maximum freedom of movement and balance.  

Personality

Zelan is very friendly and unmistakably outgoing; he loves to meet people and enjoys finding any reason (or even no reason at all) to celebrate. He is always prepared to cheer up the downtrodden or lift people's spirits when things get too tense. Though pleasant, caring, and kind, Zelan's naivete often clouds his judgment leading him into situations he isn't equipped to handle, much less understand. If on the road too long or when adventuring becomes very difficult Zelan often gets a bit whiny and can become petulant when challenged. Of note, Zelan has a preoccupation with cleanliness and personal hygiene that conflicts with the nature of adventuring or "roughing it"; he too often tries to overburden himself when traveling with "nice to haves" instead of focusing solely on "need to have" items.

Zelan has experienced more strife than he ever imagined he would, but with the help of his friends he's managed to survive. On the battlefield, Zelan plays a mostly supportive role by bolstering his allies spirits with his encouraging cheers, playful steps, and rhythmic fighting style. Zelan spies opportunities to strike as he weaves his way through a conflict and fells foes where he can to ease his allies' burden.

Family

Zelan is an only child born to a single mother, Alemi Ventrini. Alemi and Zelan's father, Klaius, fell in love as they traveled with their long-time friends in their youth. Alemi was born to a middling merchant family in Thavnair; she was the youngest daughter, and as she aged her father suspected her mother of adultery as Alemi's golden blonde hair and deep blue eyes were not prominent features of either parent. This strife often left her to her own as a child, and she would spend her time watching the dancers of her village practice for festivals and holidays. A few of them even participated in martial training and participated in the watch. Alemi wanted to be strong and loved like these women and so focused herself on her training. She left her village when she was 18 to forge her own path away from her family, intent on rebranding the Ventrini name to represent something altogether different. She ultimately never realized that goal as her path led to adventure and Klaius, the man with which she would fall deeply in love. A few years into their travels together, fortune saw fit to give Alemi a child by Klaius, and it was less than a week thereafter that Klaius met his end. That's all Zelan knows of his father and only discovered that much from one of his mother's former traveling companions. Alemi has always dismissed Zelan's inquiries about his father by saying she didn't really know him, and that Zelan was the result of a 'one night stand' with a Garlean operative they were once sent to investigate.

Varying occurrences have led Zelan's former companions, even his closest friends, on in their lives; he's currently seeking new friends and adventures.
