Name: Rowan Cross
Race: Hyur (Midlander)
Occupation: Freelancer
Classes: Pugilist/ Thaumaturge
Appearance:
Height: 5'12"
Skin Tone: White Mocha
Hair: An ashy brown
Appearance Details: Rowan would be considered another raggamuffin by most nobles who meet him. With unkept hair, one bad eye and cloths that wouldn't suit a fancy ball, most wouldn't question whether or not he's truly just another poor man from Ul'dah. The only minor detail that would seem off about him, considering him being from the desert, is that he's too pale compared to the rest of the populous. Rowan's body is well built from years of physical labor after the Calamity struck, taking his father's leg and career at once, and it is obvious he is no stranger to brawling. Despite this, anyone who has met and gotten to know him would know that his aura is that of a wiser man, which came to be after he took on the responsibility of taking care of his parents and siblings.
Personality:
Rowan's demeanor varies based off his mood. With an overall rogueish undertone, he can be fun and whimsical one moment and then serious and business-like the next. He has adopted an overall big-brother attitude since taking charge of ensuring the welfare of his family back in Ul'dah, and people may find from time to time that he has taught them a life-lesson in one form or another. Overall, he seems people smart and wise for his age, and he will rarely be democratic with anyone as honesty is one of his most valued traits.
History:
Rowan was ten when he was found by his would be step-father, Joseph Cross, just miles from Silvertear Lake and the wreckage of the Agrias. Deathly ill and struck with amnesia, Joseph made it his first priority to get Rowan back to his home in Ul'dah, where he would get proper treatment from a couple of his mage friends. For a while, it was unsure whether or not Rowan would survive, as the mages discovered that he's had his innate elements robbed from him back in Mor Dhona. They speculated that some being born of the land did this to Rowan, while the more scholarly types claimed that it was the land itself that did it. Either way, the traumatic experience nearly costed Rowan his life.
However, Rowan made a miraculous recovery thanks to the hospitality Joseph and friends'. Seeing as Rowan couldn't remember where he was from, or whether or not he even had a home, Joseph and his wife, Alicia, decided to raise the boy as their own, thinking that he was a gift from the Twelve to them. Rowan was adopted by the Cross family, and his integration was near seamless.
Rowan grew up free-spirited and unruly. He lived the life of a typical boy, and was overall happy. He was taught a lot about society and how to interact with others through Joseph, whose business thrived thanks to his people skills. Side-effects from lack of an innate element started to appear around his fifteenth birthday, such as his left eye going bad. But that never put a damper on Rowan's happiness one bit.
When Rowan was nineteen, he was just about to join the local Adventurer's Guild when the Calamity struck them home. It costed his step-father's legs and his career, and nearly brought the family to ruin. Rowan decided against joining the Adventurer's Guild so that he could take jobs at home to help support his family, which consisted of his step-parents, two little sisters and three little brothers. Over the course of the next six-to-seven years, Rowan matured from the giddy, unruly boy he was into a even-tempered young man, adopting a persona he thought would benefit everyone the most.
One day, however, his and the fortune of his family would change from the meeting of Seraphine Felstar. Seeing potential in Rowan, she offered him a position as her bodyguard, which presented him an opportunity to adventure again while recieving better pay than he would ever get from working in Ul'dah. Since then he has been building many connections in the hopes of becoming a successful Freelancer in the future, sending the majority of the money he makes back to his father in Ul'dah, who eagerly awaits the day the name Cross becomes known throughout Eorzea.
