  • Arashi Clan - Arashi meaning Storm, this clan was once known for it's hunting prowess, said to fall like a storm upon their prey.

Before Dalamud's Fall

Birth and childhood (0-10)

  • Parents die in the Battle of Griffin Crossing, defending Gridania from the Ixal
  • Young Zart'a is adopted by the Arashi Clan when the clan mother, Mieko, takes in several of the orphans of the battle. He is the sixth male she took in and he is given the name of Zart'ir, to honor his fallen mother and to mark his place in the new clan.
  • Zart'ir grew up in the clan home of the Arashi, Mieko treating the orphans she took in as her own.
  • Even then Zar, began to show promise as a hunter. He would often be playing hunting games with the other children in the clan, and would win more often than not.

Teen Years

  • As they years passed, Zar was shown the ways of the hunt by the older males of the village, often excelling in his martial training.
  • Zar was taught early on though his place in the clan. With no direct living line, and his own spot being 6th among his brothers, he knew he would be unlikely to find a mate, unless he brought himself to stand out from the rest, to prove himself worthy.

After Dalamud's Fall

Adulthood

  • As Zar remained with the clan during the Battle of Carteneau, along with the other younger males of the village, he saw none of the actual fighting itself. After the battle was over, and the veterans returned home, those that remained, he heard the tales of the battle, and the fabled warriors of light who stood fast in the face of Bahamut.
  • Listening to the tales of the elder warriors, Zar began to see his path. He would never find a name or glory in the walls of his village, no. If he was to accomplish this he needed to venture beyond the boarders of his home out into the world. To hone his skills with the elite of Eorzea, this was his path.
  • He announced his decision, and with the blessing of Mieko. He gathered his meager belongings, and began to prepare for his journey. Though as he did so, there was another who yearned to see the world beyond the shroud. His clan sister, Mahira, over heard his plan to leave and insisted to come along. Mieko granted her request on the condition that Zar watch over her, and keep her from harm. This was his duty as her clan brother. Zar agreed, and a few days later the two of them set off for Ul'dah.
  • After spending a few years in Ul'dah, learning from the Gladiators, Paladins, Pugulists, and Monks, Zar felt confidant he had tasted all that the desert had to offer him. His eyes soon fell on the next horizon.
  • During these years, Zar made a living for himself as a sell sword. He often was hired for guard duties, escorting this merchant or that. Soon he had enough saved back, and the two of them packed their gear and booked the ferry to Limsa Lominsa.

A Realm Reborn (Present, 23)

  • Zar and Mahira made their home in the island nation of Limsa Lominsa.
  • He quickly found work for himself with the Maelstrom and begun training the the masters of the isle.
  • Zar worked his way up the ranks to Second Lieutenant of the Maelstrom.
