  Quarimar is a Duskwight Elezen from a series of island caves south of Thanalan in the Ash Sea. While not a native to Eorzea he has lived there for nearly a decade, in that time he has come to call it home. Requiring numerous materials from nearly every corner of the land he can often be found traveling far and wide atop his trusted Chocobo Nhestal. After ensuring his families safety after the calamity he has returned to Eorzea, both to seek out the companions he lost and to survey the changes to the land.

Show text A few translations have been made of this family name mostly by him and Synndil before the event with Dalamund, Quarimars attempt at interpretation is "Blessed by monsters touch" Supposing a talent appearing monstrous or perhaps representing abilities augmented by some sort of Primal, He still searches for a more accurate account. Aliases/Nicknames: Quarimar (Ku-waar.EE-maar) Far and wide Show text A shortened version of his name, used when coming over to Eorzea and used commonly since. He prefers that only his family know his full name. Istrysn (ihst-riss-inn) Thankfully forgotten. Show text Known to his family (and previously to members of the Sacrarium), given to him sardonically and thought of by Synndil. From the old texts she was helping him decipher it can be translated in a variety of ways, "Ist" as "Endless or Immortal" and "Rysn" as "Artifact, Dweomer, Sorcerer or Spell." Synndil intended it as "Endless Spell" poking fun at his often longwinded exposition on possible tweaks to various incantations. It was twisted to "Immortal Sorcerer" by some of his peers at the Cabal insinuating the more barbaric "sorcerer" term along with use of "immortal" as a kind of curse, implying a lack of connection with Nald'Thal. He has come to resent it immensely and is quite glad that it has been forgotten. Quari (Ku-waar-EE) For his Friends. Show text A shortening of his Eorzean name, used mostly by his friends who often truncated his name into one quick sound anyways. While he finds it a bit embarrassing when used in public, and though he would never admit it, he is pleased to have one. Attendant A title used while working. Name Day: The Twenty Second Sun of the Fourth Umbral Moon Age: Middle Aged and showing it. Family Home: Islands in the Ash Sea Current Residence: A room in Ul'dah at the Ossuary as well as one in the Goblet attached to the Order of the Sword and Rose hall. Occasionally found camping at the Silver or Golden Bazaar. Occupation: Teacher, Scribe, Physician, or Craftsman for hire. Though he has never worked professionally as a stone mason or goldsmith he has some small talent. Mostly repairs, jewelry and sculptures done up for himself with particularly pretty materials that he finds. Else where he has taken a few jobs for helping with dissection, poultice making, and cataloguing. Speech: Normally measured and soft, his tones often reflect his thoughts going from a monotonous drone when dealing with the routine to a rambling passionate flow when curious. His speech is often verbose emphasizing clarity of understanding with touches of foreignness usually idioms or phrases from his home. Sexuality: While primarily Hetero sexual he can be an incorrigible tease towards both genders when he opens up and does find some males attractive. Outwardly prudish and obstinate to overt sexualization he still values genuine expression, desiring them to at least keep it at a distance. Appearance Height: 6 Fulm 8 Ilm (80ilm total) Weight: 220 Ponz Hair: Gray/Silver, shoulder length. Eyes: Red Irises, usually squinting. Skin: Black/Gray, An ash tone. Markings: Scars along knees, feet and the back of his hands, the top of his legs, back and chest have a mixture of fait burn marks, tears and the like, the skin a bit lighter and appearing stretched. Physique: Long limbs and fingers, a toned and lean body from sparse eating and frequent travel, well-kept but showing ware. Attire: Possessing a half dozen outfits for various situations he changes a great deal depending on what befits the situation, in most cases he's always wearing a few rings, a bangle and a half dozen odd trinkets on a necklace or otherwise. Storage is always a theme no matter what he's wearing there's a belt with pouches on his hips, or bags stuffed into various pockets or tucked into the layers of cloth. There is a deliberate variation in his clothing, he goes as far as wearing a mask while he is hunting [usually poaching], the all but useless sword on his hip in his "Thanalan" garb and effort to blend in, clearly attempts to make him unrecognizable at a casual glance. Combat Ideally he avoids it all together, instead observing or hiring mercenaries to fulfill what needs doing from monster slaying to duels. He's come to rely on a hand full of people to fight on his behalf. In Thanalan he will make a point of stressing the importance of t he various groups that maintain the peace. In most situations he uses a mixture of spells to disable and debilitate their own abilities, desiring the chance to questions the assaulter or use them in an experiment if nothing else. He keeps catalysts and poisons of him to administer against the disabled to ensure their cooperation after the fact. Cornered he tends to lash out with the more direct spells in his repertoire, often lightning and Ice. Though he doesn't like to admit it, he considers the quick death of a shock or chilling shut down preferable than the feeling of suffocating on wind, or the broiling away of flesh from fire. When hunting on his own for reagents across Eorzea he makes a good show of trying to utilize the bow and lance work he learned as a child, its amateurish at best. He does his best to utilize the terrain around him to lead anything he's hunting into a snare or isolated area. Spirituality Quarimar by Ansenmaru While Quarimar isn't the most devout individual he does make the effort to visit both Nald and Thals shrines in Thanalan as well as Thaliaks stone. When visiting the sanctum of the twelve he will often sit meditating before Thaliaks sigil, if somehow caught unaware you might stumble upon him having a one sided conversation with the altar. Writing - He likes to pen small short stories under a number of pseudonyms, As well as other more serious works [see the Writings tab for more]. Fishing - mostly along river banks and small ponds. Using the time to digest other thoughts. Sculpting - little statuettes, usually just posses or faces done in peculiar bits of rock. Studying - All manner of strange creatures, foreign objects and books. Teaching - As much as he outwardly bemoans it, a good student engages him and can bring out the best in him. Family Vesreloix Vesreloix: (Alive) His Father and current Patriarch of the Baenund family. A romantic and bit dramatic, he cares greatly for all his relatives and works to instill a sense of openness among them. The man is the first real 'bard' Quarimar could say he knew, singing to the children constantly as they grew up and weaving tales as he worked around their family home, the inspiration for a love of the arts in many of his children. He is quite comfortable with the idea of spending the rest of his life in their little corner of the world and has little interest in Eorzeas problems beyond what might trouble the family that remains there. Like his own Father and the those before him he has little love for Wildwoods or Hyurans. Haisie Haisie: (Alive) "Mother" in a word, and "Lady" in another, "Gold eyes" was her nickname when she worked as a Caravan guard for Vesreloix's brother. Straight-backed and noble in everything from speech to manners she was born in Ishgardian lands but never inhabited the capitol city itself. Trained as a Lancer she passes on her skills through a mixture of regular practice and subtle lessons turned into games. The normally quiet woman is also the main driver behind encouraging travel and seeing the world, going so far as to pester the childrens uncle into taking them sailing beyond their home. She avoids talking about her own family. "I've been told since I was a boy that I am most like my mother… good." Theidalre Theidalre: (Alive) One of the twin brothers born a few years after Quarimar. Active, excitable and aware, Theidalre stands as the tallest among his siblings, as well as the most willing to just dive into a problem as a child, though he has become more cautious after his younger twins passing. Never far from home these days, he shifted the restless spirit that originally pushed the three boys in their youthful antics to pursuing his fathers craft with stone work. Mestonnaux: (Deceased) The other twin brother, and "the good child" Mestonnaux was the wise council opposed to Quarimars ceaseless desire to explore and Theidalre's willingness to 'get in the thick of it.' Much like his twin in appearance Cevell Cevell: (Alive) Younger Sister and youngest of the Children, born while the other siblings were already old enough to be tending the home. Synndil Cimeaurant: (Alive?) aka. "Cimy". Vesreloixs younger brother and the current black sheep of the family. At this point Quarimar doesn't know if the fellow is still alive, or if the repots of his ship being lost at see are true. Synndil: (Deceased) Passing away while the red moon still glowed her death was something that hit the whole family hard, Quarimar still refrains from talking about, or acknowledging at all in some cases.
