Biography

Before the Calamity

Liam was born in Gridania to a middle class family. He was raised with a basic education and had a natural talent with Conjury. Though the guild tried to convince him to learn there he was more enthralled with the lancers of the Wood Wailers. At fifteen Liam had joined them and was in the White Wolves. He showed to be decent with a lance but not adept in learning other arms. He was only passible with a bow and not at all useful with a sword. During a training session with a sword, Liam overcommitted an attack and ended up on the receiving end of his opponent’s practice blade which earned him his scars below his eye. This error and resulting injury also lead to Liam never really moving up in the ranks with the Order of the Twin Adder and never making it beyond the While Wolves. Years of service passed and still with the White Wolves, Liam grew and became engaged to an Elezan woman by the name of Rose. Their romance was brief and the engagement rushed at the urging of both their families but before their wedding could come to pass Liam found himself on the front lines at the Battle of Carteneau.

Aftermath of the Calamity

The effects of Louisoix’s spell had odd effects on those that once knew Liam. His fiancé and parents lost all memory of him. Rose married another man while his family moved away from Gridania. Five years later Liam returned like the others in a beam of light. That beam of light carrying Liam landed right on top of a Miq’ote hunting an antelope in the Shroud. This curious return lead the Miq’ote, named S’niahna, to follow Liam as he made his awkward return to Gridania, where he quickly learned about the missing time, and that no one had a clue who he even was. A little research lead him to find his old house inhabited by strangers, and his ex-fiance, Rose, married and with child. Though hurt, Liam made an impassioned plea to make Rose remember him but S’niahna’s presence caused Rose to think Liam was a con-artist and she quickly slammed the door in his face. Disheartened with no acquaintances except the Miq’ote he just landed on, Liam headed to find work at the Adventurer’s guild. And so began his new story…

Liam’s Vices

The horrors of the Calamity, and being swept away by Louisoix’s spell while everyone he fought beside died has caused Liam to have post-traumatic stress. When faced with situations that may lead to the loss of life of those close to him, or conversation about such things or the past can lead him to lose control. The only solution to this he has found is drinking to numb his mind. Liam also suffers severe nightmares from the Calamity to which he still has trouble finding relief. These things also lead to Liam having a blunt and sarcastic attitude.

Liam’s Hope

To counter Liam’s vices he has found two things, the companionship of S’niahna, and White Magic. S’niahna gives Liam hope for a future of not being alone. He has also found that the act of healing others helps him know that he can do something to prevent others from dying needlessly.
