She can very often be found approaching people just for the sake of a conversation or a new friendship. Despite tendencies to come on too strongly and do impolite things without thinking, the woman prides herself in being good company. Friends of hers are often treated to favorite dishes that Aeva prepares for them herself, as cooking is her main hobby outside of work. Always eager to learn more about the people she talks with, she adores swapping stories as well. She works as a mercenary and a private investigator, so she has a lot of them to give! Her naive nature leads her to blindly believe many of the stories she gets in exchange however, even if they're greatly exaggerated tall tales. APPEARANCE Aeva is a miqo’te who stands at roughly 5’8, and appears to be in her early-to-mid twenties. Her bright red eyes have vertically-aligned slits for pupils, and her ears and tail are on the smaller side. All of these traits mark her as a Seeker of the Sun, despite her name and behaviors being more in line with her nocturnal cousins. The woman’s layered and disheveled jet black hair is kept at medium length. Her bangs are swept to the side as well, mostly shrouding her forehead from view. If those bangs were to be moved out of the way or looked at from the right angle however, a diamond-shaped crimson gemstone would be seen, socketed dead-center on her forehead. While Aeva’s figure is still undoubtedly feminine, she’s lacking in more pronounced curves. Instead, she’s a woman of a thin and lithe frame. In most situations, the sort of fashion that covers this figure is simple and ascetic. Clothing such as scuffed and dirtied leather boots and plain hempen doublets. Her wear may change from day-to-day, though it’s rarely impressive or expensive-looking. With the woman’s plain clothing however, the twin short swords sheathed at her hips stand out with a stark contrast. Starting at the bottom, purple tassels hang from the pommels, dangling freely as Aeva moves. These Far Eastern-styled weapons are intricately wrapped around the grips, forming small diamond-shaped gaps in the black fabric. The dark steel on the pommels and guards are decorated with ornate golden trimming, the lines of which even curve to form various spirals and patterns. Aspects That Stand Out: ■ Often carries a pair of ornate short swords from the Far East. ■ Bright red eyes. PERSONALITY Cheerful, friendly, and outgoing. If this woman’s typical demeanor could be summed up in a few words, it would be those. She tends to take a genuine interest in whoever she’s talking to, and enjoys listening about the hobbies, feelings, and occupations of others over explaining her own. The easygoing comfort the miqo’te experiences around other people can border on the extreme however, causing her to engage in behaviors that many would consider impolite. She’s prone to kicking her feet up onto tables, asking personal questions without thinking, ones that many would find uncomfortable, and other things of that nature. While her interest is mostly focused on others, the woman doesn’t require too much persuading before talking about herself if that’s what the other wishes. She takes pride in her living, working as both a sellsword and a private investigator. Have a problem with a partner who you suspect of being disloyal? Suspect someone in your life of engaging in secret, perhaps even criminal activity? She’ll stealthily tail them for you and uncover the truth. Need a bodyguard? Or someone to fight for you? She’s got your back. If you could benefit from someone tough or sneaky in any way, Aeva will insist up-and-down that she’s the best person one can hire. So long as nothing illegal is being asked of her of course. If her company seems interested, she very much enjoys telling tales of some of her past jobs as well. Just don’t expect any specific names. Aeva adores making new friends and being introduced to their hobbies. Though she’s not without her own interests as well. The main one being food. She is a skilled cook, and loves to make dishes for people she’s fond of. Other than cooking and her career, she’s lacking in skill in most other areas, though that doesn’t mean she isn’t up for trying. She often goes fishing despite her lack of proficiency, attempting to use her own catches in the seafood dishes she craves so much. L I K E S ■ Food. She has a passion for food, any opportunity she has to try new dishes will be jumped on immediately. Her first love is seafood, and Othardian cuisine comes in a distant second place. ■ Women. While Aeva very much enjoys the company of all people, she has a preference for the company of women specifically due to her upbringing, even if those relationships are purely platonic. She still treats men with her usual friendly interest, but is less likely to show them quite the same degree of warmth and generosity until she gets to truly know them. ■ Fighting. She has a knack for combat, and loves to get work that involves it. ■ High Places. She feels peace, calm, and security in high places. If camping out in the wilds, she would much rather sleep atop a tree than the ground. If it weren’t for all of the potential social interactions to be had on the streets below, she might even get around cities by leaping from rooftop to rooftop. ■ Confidence. Aeva finds herself more naturally drawn towards dominant and confident individuals. This is especially true when this confidence is backed up by proficiency in the thing(s) they’re confident about. ■ Music. While completely unable to sing or play any instruments herself, she is easily enraptured by those who can. The sound of performance gracing her ears is sure to elevate her mood. ■ Hair/Ear/Tail Grooming. If her hair is being brushed, or she’s receiving scratches behind the ears, she’ll react to such things by becoming pleasantly relaxed. She expresses this enjoyment in civilized, non-bestial ways. Any mention of her being “cat-like” because of this will result in immediate defensiveness and annoyance unless she’s very close with the person. ■ The Far East. Due to positive experiences with Doman refugees, Aeva has significant interest in the East, as well as the people who come from it. D I S L I K E S ■ Bugs. She’s unlikely to show fear of insects unless they’re unreasonably large and dangerous. Rather, she reacts to all of them with intense annoyance. If a bug is ever in her presence, she’s sure to try to kill it with zeal. ■ Socializing with Crowds. Curiously, despite how much of a social being she is, Aeva is made uncomfortable when having to interact with too many people at the same time. Mixing too many different dynamics in one conversation is off putting for her. One-on-one dialogues are strongly preferred. The further from a one-on-one it is, the less comfortable she feels. ■ Isolation. Being away from civilization or social contact for long periods of time cause this miqo’te serious discomfort, and can lead to her becoming rather depressed. ■ Aether-based Travel. Outside of ninjutsu, Aeva’s knowledge and skill with magic approaches non-existence. All she knows about aether-based travel is that it’s scary and it makes her feel sick. She’s hesitant to teleport anywhere, and will avoid it when possible. ■ Cold Climates. Her ability to tolerate the cold is notably below average. She’s far less eager to visit colder regions. ■ Excessive Formality. She is put off by this more than she lets on, and will still maintain friendly dialogue if faced with it. She feels people hide their true selves behind formality, and that it inherently lacks genuineness. She’s very understanding of formality from strangers, and small doses are completely fine. It’s a fine line, however, and the longer she knows a person the more discomforted she’ll feel by it. Gifts of hers being refused out of attempted politeness/selflessness is a good way to ruin her mood as well. H O B B I E S ■ Cooking. Aeva often spends her free time experimenting with cooking various dishes. Everyone needs to eat, and she believes good food is something even the most opposite of people can bond over. One of her favorite things to do for friends is cook their favorite meals for them. ■ Meditation. A more recently-attained hobby she picked up from Doman refugees, though certainly one she still thoroughly enjoys. She strongly believes that you can’t reach your full potential as a fighter unless you devote time to sharpening your mind with meditation. She swears up and down it’s been a massive benefit for her ability to use ninjutsu as well as keep calm when facing stress. ■ Training. Having been born on Eorzea, she has only recently gotten the chance to learn her ninjutsu and has a lot of catching up to do when compared to the Domans. She’s just recently become a chunin, and strives towards the goal of becoming a jonin. Naturally, she trains and practices regularly to approach this goal. Reaching solid milestones and seeing noticeable improvement provides her with incredible satisfaction. ■ Fishing. While not a skilled fisher, Aeva does enjoy doing it from time to time. As a seafood lover who grew up in Limsa Lominsa, she feels it only natural to try and catch her own meals on occasion. S T R E N G T H S ■ Selfless. Anyone she deems a decent person who’s willing to engage her in conversation is someone who Aeva will often act very selflessly towards. It’s not uncommon for her to go far out of her way for the benefit of others, other women especially. People she likes will be showered with positivity, gifts, praise, and affection. For some however, this can make her seem like she comes on too strongly with her friendships. ■ Confident. Her view of herself is very realistic, and she prides herself on her strengths and accomplishments. She’s very proud of her cooking, fighting, and athleticism. There are but a small few things the miqo’te has insecurities about. ■ Curious. Aeva is always eager and happy to learn new things, and it’s not uncommon for her to question the subtler intricacies of various things she doesn’t quite grasp. This is especially the case when these topics pertain to the hobby or interest of a friend, she can listen to others talk about their passions for a long time. W E A K N E S S E S ■ Gullible. Tell the most heroic tall tales about yourself, Aeva will eat it right up! Unless facts blatantly and obviously contradict what someone is saying, she will usually take their word at face value and can come off as rather naive. This can lead her into believing all sorts of fabricated over-the-top positive traits about people, negative traits can easily be explained away, and lying to her is as easy as can be. ■ Too Informal. She finds herself very comfortable around most others, something that borders on enough of an extreme that it can cause her issues. She rarely thinks through whether her actions or words will be considered inappropriate or impolite, and rather just does what comes naturally with a very minimal filter. She’s prone to asking questions that are too personal, kicking her feet up onto tables, eating messily, and other behaviors that are considered too informal for new acquaintances. ■ Dependent. Her happiness is very dependant on others and is far from self-sustaining. Having no positive social interactions for too long can have a large emotional impact on her. Q U I R K S ■ Talks in her sleep. Aeva will very likely respond to any voices around her if she’s asleep in the presence of others. While not nearly as articulate as she is while awake, she can carry something that resembles a conversation while sleeping. In this state she’s much more impressionable. It’s also often obvious that the things being spoken to her influence her dreams, judging by the things she says. ■ Restless feet. If she’s seated or standing still, she usually can be seen idly playing with her feet. Tapping them against the ground, dragging them in circles, etc. ■ Lightweight with alcohol. It takes a very small amount of alcohol to get Aeva noticeably drunk. She’ll avoid drinking unless the company she’s with insists, as drinking drastically alters her behavior. Depending on the people involved, she might beg them for a chance to spar, share every single thought that passes through her head, or gush on and on about how much she “loves” them despite just being casual acquaintances. It’s rare to find Aeva embarrassed about anything, but telling her about her past-forgotten drunken escapades is a great way to make her embarrassed. ■ Strange diet. If a source of food can fit in her mouth and not pose a risk to her, she’ll consider eating it, and she has taken a liking to some items that many would view as gross. When walking outside, if an insect lands on her shoulder she just might consider it fair game for a quick snack. Fish as well, though she’s rather picky when it comes to those, opting only for specific species that she knows carry little-to-no risk of making her sick. Live miniature squids from her deep sea fishing trips are a personal favorite. Due to past intensely negative reactions from others, she makes a specific case not to do this in front of people who she hasn’t gotten close with first. Artwork Screenshots ಌ OOC NOTES ಌ OOC INFORMATION Player Note I'm not new to roleplaying in general, but I'm extremely new to Final Fantasy 14 roleplay. It's a very real possibility that I may miss crucial and important lore while roleplaying and coming up with ideas, as I'm inexperienced with the setting. If you feel I've missed something important, please feel free to bring it up with me out of character. There's likely a lot of things Aeva should know that I as an inexperienced player wouldn't know. Personal RP Limits My only real limit involves certain sexual stuff. I write my roleplay characters with the same aversions to the same sexual things for practicality's sake. So roleplay exactly how you normally would, Aeva will naturally steer things away from my limits in character and it won't be a big deal at all. I'd rather this not influence how you roleplay with me, I'm just including it so people know what they're getting into with me. Pretty much, any sexual themes besides actual intercourse are going to be totally fine. If your flirty character says something graphic it's fine, if a romantic interest wants to express physical intimacy or kissing/groping it's all good. No other limits. Other than that one issue I'm very outgoing and open minded. Disclaimer ■ IC =/= OOC. I am not Aeva. I know the vast majority of people understand this and that this isn't necessary, but I just want to reaffirm just to make sure. Aeva can come on too strongly with people, and can be relentlessly positive and caring towards your character when we have no knowledge of each other out of character. Her feelings are not my own, please don't interpret them as such. I can be open to talking OOC for sure though! Just keep in mind that me and my character are not very similar. CHARACTER TIDBITS Potential Plot Hooks Please keep my rumors section in mind! If the common and (more hesitantly) the uncommon ones would start a conversation then that works. ■ Aeva is searching for someone who she can serve as a retainer for, someone who can make regular use of her services. This isn't much of a secret. A direct consequence of the Doman ideals of what it means to be a ninja being completely drilled into her, she feels a shinobi is grows faster when dutybound as a servant to an other. She insists on little-to-no pay, but also insists on having personal chemistry with whoever would take her. If your character could make use of this arrangement feel free to walk-up. It could be a short conversation due to Aeva not thinking it would work out with your character. Or if we communicate about it, it could potentially be a long-term arrangement. ■ Aeva is a private investigator and a sellsword. Feel free to just know this through rumors, and feel free to approach her to chat about her services, whether out of curiosity or a genuine desire to hire. If they suspect a lover of cheating, suspect someone of keeping important secrets from them, or even just need a tough fighter for some reason, all of these things are good reasons to talk to her. ■ If your character has been around the poorer areas of Limsa Lominsa for extended lengths of time, or has connections to crime there, they might know Aeva to be an ex-criminal who mysteriously disappeared from the scene a few years ago. ■ If your character had connections with the Doman refugees who taught Eorzeans how to be shinobi, you could have met Aeva when she trained under some of them. She already fought similarly to shinobi, so she insisted on completely focusing on ninjutsu alone to hasten her progress. Character Lore Adherence In other games I've always tried to be as lore adhering as possible. Final Fantasy 14 is no exception, though my lack of experience may cause accidental lore-bending to occur. If you notice this -politely- bring it up with me out of character please! I certainly don't want to be claiming anything impossible or contradicting something known.
