History

Gridanian by birth, he spent his childhood and early teenage years in the Black Shroud, raised by his parents. His father, a conjurer, had him study to follow the same profession, to the boy's dislike. His mother, a former Wood Wailer, taught him all about the outdoors—hunting, herbalism, fishing, and combat.

In his late teens, he left the Conjurer's guild and Gridania, traveling with a young adventurer that was passing through. He learned much, and eventually found himself in La Noscea and Limsa Lominsa, where he spent many years learning the culinary and merchant trades.

In more recent times, he relocated to Ul'dah on his own, seeking new work and a new life for himself, though the change has not been as fruitful as he had anticipated.

Personality

Mostly pleasant! He is friendly to people he meets, and expresses a sense of humor most of the time. Alderique may seem over-confident, if not arrogant, and enjoys attention if it's given. Perceptive individuals may notice that much of his behavior is very surface level, and very different personality traits are hidden under the surface. They become much more apparent to those who get to know him.

Skills & Abilities

Dagger. A teenager traveling the wilds of the Shroud and La Noscea, he was taught how to wield daggers in combat. Paired with his regular handling of knives as a culinarian, the dagger has become Alderique's preferred weapon. In addition to having a couple for melee combat, he keeps a few smaller daggers for throwing.

Bow. As a child, Alderique learned to hunt with a bow, and has begun practicing this skill once again. While he's most comfortable with knives, he believes that a ranged strike is often the best solution.

Conjury. While he studied conjury from an early age, he's neglected this school of magic for years. Recently, he has begun to practice it again, feeling the need to reconnect with his roots in it and learn its practical uses. While his healing needs practice, he is more comfortable conjuring wind to aid his physical abilities, and occasionally will make use of spells of other elements.

Herbalism. While most of his knowledge revolves around edible vegetation, he likes to learn about the different uses of plants, including as medicine and poison. One of the few things he researches and keeps journals on.

Culinary arts. An experienced chef, Alderique cut his teeth in Limsa Lominsa. Currently, he cooks for pleasure, and enjoys opportunities to craft a meal for those he cares about. He especially enjoys cooking for men he's attracted to.

Valor Ferrer	Friendship	This keeper of the moon, while a little odd and quiet, is a regular travel and adventuring companion. While they may quarrel from time to time, she has proven to be a reliable friend, and he trusts her with his life.
Momoto Chibito	Friendship	An older gentleman with similar interests as Alderique. Food, drink, and men, the two are glad to share company and ramble about their interests and pursuits. It doesn't hurt that the man seems to be wealthy.
Vachir Crimsonborn ♥	Friendship	A young, Auri man to whom Alderique has allowed himself to grow intimate with. Vachir was an early introduction to Au Ra, and he continues to learn about them through him.
Rubh'a Lerhevah	Friendship	A friend and lover of Vachir Crimsonborn, Rubh'a has started to become a friend of Alderique's as well. After establishing that the miqo'te harbors no dislike of him, Alderique has taken an interest in getting to know him.
Gaelle Valeriant	Family (mother)	A retired Wood Wailer, outdoorsman, and mother of three. Alderique often speaks quite fondly of her, and she is his preferred family member. Considerably more liberal than her husband, Gaelle has always been his foil, encouraging the children to let loose and explore their own interests.
Ludovoix Valeriant	Family (father)	A gloomy conjurer, Ludovoix has raised his boys to follow in his footsteps in service to the elementals, Gridania, and the Twelveswood. He can be a bit too stern, and is very devout in his practice. His relationship with Alderique is less than pleasant, and the two rarely speak.
Barnabaix Valeriant	Family (brother)	The eldest brother, Barnabaix is a conjurer like his father. As the eldest, he was presented with a high level of pressure, both from his father and from himself, to become a great conjurer. He often comes off as serious, and can be very standoffish with his brothers—out of competition, and out of insecurity.
Stephannot Valeriant	Family (brother)	The conjurer savant of the family, Stephannot is the middle son and and the most gifted conjurer. As a result, he is often treated as the favorite son, with the other two given pressure to match his skill. He is not arrogant about it, though, and is very compassionate with his brothers, Alderique moreso than Barnabaix.
