[edit] Details Personality Relationships Rumors Gallery OOC Notes GENERAL INFORMATION Aldis Sigurdardottir is half Au Ra on her mother's side and half Hyur Highlander on her father's. Her parents met in Ala Mhigo where her father, Sigurd Olfrson, was a wealthy merchant and her mother, Ajisai Obinata, was on tour as a famous songstress. They fell in love and Ajisai gave up her tour to settle down in Ala Mhigo and have a baby. As Aldis grew up she wanted to study magic, mainly summoning magic as the books she had read about it fascinated her, but she was never able to find a proper teacher in Ala Mhigo. So at the age of fifteen her parents moved to Ul'dah, so that he could continue to be a merchant while Aldis would finally be closer to Limsa and the arcanist college there. Aldis studied hard, rarely leaving the school grounds trying to learn all she could to become the best arcanist. Unfortunately, they found she stuffered from some kind of block, preventing her from channeling her magic. Her teachers could sense she was capable of very strong magic but somehow she was completely unable to tap into it. This only made Aldis more determined. One night after a long study session she was alone in her room trying to cast a simple summoning spell. As she strained, something in her finally burst through. The result knocked her unconscious. Luckily another student found her and the got her to the medical wing. Aldis remained in a coma for three days. When she awoke, her block was gone, but the effects of the summoning lingered. Whenever she tried to use magic, instead of calling forth a small bit of aether to bring forth a creature, she was pulling the aether through her body, draining her energy and risking death. She had somehow opened a hole through herself straight to the Aether Stream. Fearing she would slip into another coma, her parents spend years and lost of gil trying to find a cure while paying tutors to see to her training, all in hopes that she wouldn't accidentally summon herself a grave. Then, ten years ago, her mother became very sick, and after only a few days, passed away. Her father was a very hard man and could not bare lossing his wife. Aldis looked just like her in many ways, so he distance himself from her so he didn't have to see his dead wife in his daughter's eyes. He continued to pay for her care and her schooling, but that was the extent of it. Aldis, twenty when her mother passed, began to fend for herself. She didn't stop studying magic, but she was careful not to over extend herself. She made friends with an alchemist who found her affliction to be a great source of study. He researched ways to "cure" her. Aldis in the mean time thought it best to make her own way in the world. That is when she came across a Free Company of mercenaries looking for new members. And so she joined the Green Goobbue Army. Well was going well, until the day she went on her first mission with them, when she using her ablity to save her mates from some falling rocks, she had pulled too much aether thru herself. It worn her out and she collapsed to her knees. Her Free Co. mates worried about her but she shrugged them off. Not wanting them to know or worry about her condition, she left the the Company, but stayed a contracted member they could call on for help.
