Call me naive or foolhardy or whatever you want. I swore I'd help others and bring some more good into this world, and that's what I'm going to do!

[edit]

GENERAL INFORMATION

A teenaged Hyur boy who grew up in an Ul'dahn orphanage before being thrown out at the age of sixteen after having never been considered for adoption. Being relatively brave, strong, and noble, he sought to sustain himself as a mercenary; with a dream of one day becoming a paladin of renown, helping the helpless innocents of Ul'dah as he wished someone had done for him... Often seen as rather dense (though not by any means stupid) and slow to catch on, he does nonetheless possess guts and determination, as well as an earnest desire to aid those he cares for.

APPEARANCE

Slightly taller than average for his age, as well as noticeably brawny, Alex is often considered to be relatively handsome, though nothing extraordinary or particularly noteworthy. Mostly noticed for his eyes, an unusual shade of bright silver, the youth possesses a well toned athletic build, with messy pale blonde hair, and fair, albeit slightly tanned skin. The only other unusual trait he possesses beyond his silver eyes is a tatto adorning the right side of his face. Usually covered by his hair, he has no memory of where or when he was branded so, and as far as he is aware, has always had it.

PERSONALITY

Seemingly a brash and confident youth, self assured and certain in his ability, Alex seems very stable and well adjusted; and resolute in his desire to be a good man who helps those around him freely. In actuality however, the lad is extremely insecure, having felt isolated and neglected for virtually all of his life. His courage, determination, and desire to help others is genuine however, born of wanting to make the world a better place for orphans like him and the other orphanage children; and knowing that simply waiting around idly for someone else to magically swoop in and solve one's problems rarely works. Generally the teen seems pleasant, friendly and respectful, usually treating others kindly, or at least how they treat him. He does have a tendency to become withdrawn when discouraged, or to become quippy and sarcastic as a defence mechanism however, despite his best efforts. Creating a shell around himself when uncomfortable or nervous.

L I K E S

Fighting. Though not a violent man by any means (In fact he dislikes violence rather strongly), Alex enjoys the challenge of combat; pushing and honing his abilities to overcome obstacles and find, and exceed, his limits.
Books. Although most definitely not a scholar or academic by any means, the boy is well read and particularly enjoys reading stories, history books, and any materials concerning myths and legends, placing special focus on great heroes and champions of the world.
Animals. He loves most animals and beasts, especially chocobos, and seems unusually adept and comfortable at handling most beasts of all types when compared to others, especiallygiven his minimal formal training
Girls. Being a teenaged boy, it's hardly surprising, no? However, Alex seems to only truly have eyes for one girl in particular. Though is unsure as to how to confess his feelings without ruining things...

D I S L I K E S

Violence. Despite his love of fighting, Alex despises violence and brutality, especially when done with evil or otherwise meaningless intent.
Dishonesty. Although he has grown to understand the occasional need to withhold information at times, he generally hates outright lying, especially when done for cowardly or manipulative reasons.
Nobles. Having grown up seeing how most nobles tend to look down upon and mistreat the lower classes much of the time, Alex has grown extremely wary and mistrusting of them; seeing most as worthless egotistical narcissists unworthy of the respect they often demand. One who showed true 'nobility' in their actions would still earn his sincere respect and admiration however.
Girls. As much as he is intrigued by girls, especially one in particular, Alex seems to find them extremely daunting creatures, and often manages to make a fool of himself whilst trying to maintain his cool.
His Fathera. Bringing the subject of his father is an absolutely fantastic way to make him angry...

H O B B I E S

Training / Exercising. Having grown up poor and without much to do, the youth quickly found that exercise is one of the few free ways to pass the time. Running and climbing all over Ul'dah, the boy quickly grew strong and fast, and even began running cross-country to nearby settlements, heedless of the dangerous beasts lurking along the way. Eventually, this energy was turned towards martial training, with the boy becoming just as focused with practising combat manoeuvres, choosing to often work himself to the point of collapse. nevertheless, this resulted in him becoming extremely adept for his age, if still far from the levels of a career combatant.
Reading. Though certainly not an especially academic sort, Alex loves reading books, particualrly ones concerning history, legends and myths; and featuring stories of great champions and tales of heroism. As such, he has become rather well versed on many of the key events that have shaped the history of Eorzea. He especially loves reading anything concerning paladins, and views every scrap of literature he can find on them to be a worthy read.
Daydreaming. In idle moments the teenager has a tendency to drift off, losing himself in dreams and fantasies of one day becoming a great hero and renowned champion of the world.

◢ Common Rumors - Easily overheard. Use these freely!
"Does this girl do anything but read and sleep? She must have gone through every novel here at least once." — Banter between librarians..

◢ Rare Rumors - Very rarely overheard. Please ask before using!
"She's an absolute menace. Always late, walking around with her head in the clouds, wandering off to Gods know where, and making us waste time looking for her. We'll all be glad to send her on her way in few months, unless some unfortunate soul actually adopts her. She's no good, that girl!" — Orphanage matron.
"She keeps making up excuses, I swear! There is no way a healthy looking girl could feel sick every other day! Send her to the doctors, and unless I see written proof, I'm incarcerating her indefinitely!" — Orphanage matron.
"I would swear I heard Cassandra mutter to herself again. Something is not quite right in that one's head, as if it was the first time." — Orphanage matron.

ಌ OOC NOTES ಌ

OOC INFORMATION

Player Note
Cassie is not the usual concept character with a lush backstory, a set of skills and so on. This character is a lump of clay to be shaped by people she meets and their influence on her. Starting as just a simple teen, grown up in an orphanage without any family, without any perspectives or a place to go, she could become anyone. She could end up in bad company and become a bad person herself, she might be virtuous under right guidance. She could as easily end up a thief, an honest worker or a traveling vagabond. That, my friends, is up to you.
Personal RP Limits
I'd like to think myself old enough to have seen it all, done it all, and then some as far as roleplay is concerned, and mature enough to keep roleplay firmly apart from reality. For the latter part, I trust people I play with to have a similar mindset. With that in mind, as long as something happens naturally, as a course of decent roleplay, I'm not one to say "Hell no!" and back out of a situation unless it involves some serious character or lore breaking, metagaming, trolling or griefing. Other than that, my hands are off the wheel, and the story goes where the wind blows it. Good times or bad times, it's all character development, and I don't mind seeing what happens to her as long as it makes sense. Mature themes? Don't be shy. If I don't like something, I'll tell you. If Cassie doesn't, she can speak for herself, and if she ends up in a tight spot, she can escape from it. God emote at me, I'll god emote at you and we probably won't get along well in the future. Let's all be reasonable, shall we?
RP Style
I like realism. Not a realism nazi but I like rp that makes sense. Prefer down to earth rp, not really into god-like, master-of-everything superhero characters. I like flaws, vulnerabilities and weaknesses a lot more. They make people... well... people.

CHARACTER TIDBITS

Potential Plot Hooks
Cassie never left Ul'dah beyond a couple of strolls just beyond the city walls, and as shy as she is she wouldn't really approach strangers - more of a 'Talk if talked to' kind of girl. She also usually makes effort to stay out of everyone's way and get by without drawing attention, more content with her imagination for company. Saying that, she could have been spotted in or around an orphanage in the poorer parts of Ul'dah, often with a simple backpack slung over her shoulder and sometimes a book in her hand. She could also be seen in any and all of the city's libraries that aren't reserved for the 'privileged people', usually hanging about shelves packed full of novels and sometimes history books. Libraries are also where she would have been most approachable, sometimes hiding titles of novels she read in embarrassment if caught with paperback romance in her hand. She would have been quiet and polite to anyone that approached, showing signs of insecurity.
Character Lore Adherence
Strict within my knowledge of lore. If I get lore wrong, I appreciate advice. Also, prefer to rp with people who respect lore.
