An Au Ra claiming to hail from Garlemald; Alunshar isn’t exactly afraid to reveal her former ties with the Garlean military. The exact details of her parting, however, is left to one's own imagination. Many speculate her to be a liar for such a daring confession although quite a number of people avoid her due to the sheer number of rumors surrounding her race. Openly admitting to once being part of the Garlean Empire has its consequences though. Let’s just say some individuals now have a person to target for all the atrocities committed by Garlmald for simplicity's sake.

Biography

Alunshar’s humble beginnings began on the Othard Steppes like most Xaela. Born into the Ejinn tribe, she was taught to swim long before being able to take her first step. Many of the children found curiosity in the depths of the rivers and lakes they roamed, and Alunshar was no different. She developed an interest in the bones, discarded weapons, and oddly shaped fragments of rock buried beneath the riverbed. However, her parents often discouraged her from keeping them as her own. Instead, they looked to the elders to occupy her with stories related to the "treasures" she found. The Ejinn could not afford to be weighed down by forgotten, unnecessary things after all.

Sadly, not long after her sixth cycle, Alunshar's life took a sudden turn. A powerful storm struck the area the Ejinn were residing at the time which made the water too dangerous for the tribe to be in or near. They took to higher, safer ground to avoid the following flood but even then their safety wasn't guaranteed. A particular trinket belonging to Alunshar's mother was taken by the howling winds, lost in the sea of trees. Despite warnings from both her parents though, Alunshar attempted to retrieve it. Her small stature compared to nothing against the elements, and, in the end, she was swept away by the raging waters. Miraculously, she survived but found herself in unfamiliar territory.

It wasn’t long after when Garlean scouts seized her. From there, she was forced into the Empire’s regime as Alunshar aan Domitius. The opportunity to become part of a powerful force fell deaf on her ears as conquest and subjugation weren’t the ways of the Ejinn tribe. Alunshar's newly appointed teachers, nevertheless, made it a point to constantly remind her of her position and status within Garlean society. Even when her position changed to that of a lowly soldier, Alunshar still faced antagonism from her fellow peers. Those that were born into Garlemald's ambitions could only doubt the loyalty of ones forced to into their ranks. For this, she was watched constantly.

All too slowly the cycles passed. Alunshar somehow managed to rise into position as a centurion much to the displeasure of all who questioned her. Once again, however, her life changed. Newly appointed as Alunshar quo Domitius, she was sent to Castrum Meridianum where she quickly grew discontent with her connection to the Empire. During the chaos of Operation Archon, she seized the opportunity to abandon her post. Naturally, Alunshar was branded a deserter as she slipped into the deserts of Thanalan.

Whether any of this is true, however, is up for speculation.

Rumors

Some of these rumors are untrue or are greatly exaggerated. Please feel free to add your own rumors under PC!

◢ Common Rumors (Easily overheard)
“Friend of mine said a drunkard tried to kiss her once. Those horns of hers sliced his face wide open. That’s a cautionary tale if I ever heard one.”
“You don’t just wake up one sun and decide to defect. There’s more she’s not telling us.”
◢ Moderate Rumors (Moderately difficult to overhear)
“She was just sitting there in the Bismarck shucking oysters like it was her Twelve-given gift. She cleaned the whole place out too!”
“If she’s really from Garlemald, you think those empire dogs just let her freely strut her stuff around Eorzea? One of these suns, you’ll find her corpse in the gutter.”
◢ Rare Rumors (Very difficult or rarely overheard)
“A sailor said he saw her swimming with some sahagin. No Garlean in their right mind would associate with beastmen most of all a brainwashed one like her.”
◢ PC Rumors (Rumors from the character's of other players)
Trivia
Her nameday is the twenty third of the fourth umbral moon.
Alunshar combines the words “red” and “coral”. The coral portion refers to Heuchera which are flowers also known as coral bells.
