I've been called a Desert Rose, an Ocean Lily, and a Hopeful Iris. Why compare me to a flower? Flowers are weak and this time I will be bulletproof.

APPEARANCE

She taller than the average female midlander measuring at approximately 5'7" barefoot. At first glance you could easily call her frame 'petite' but under closer examination, if she lets you get that close that is, her physique is extremely tone from her years of Garlean ruled military training. Besides her general silhouette she has two features that stand out upon first glance. The first is her deep auburn hair which she prefers to keep tied neatly in a tight ponytail, away from her face, so not to block her view if there is a need for an unsuspected fight. The second are her piercing eyes which, depending on the light, will shift from a stormy gray to a crystal blue in color.


Alyria's outfit of choice is always a set of white scaled armor whenever she is away from the safety of The Wayfarer's Rest or walking the beaches of the Mist.

A common outfit whenever she is relaxing inside 'The Rest' is a simple red Hyur styled top and white skirt. Red was not always common in her wardrobe, but a friend once pointed out that color looked good on her.

BRIEF HISTORY/GENERAL INFORMATION

Alyria is just a Garlean transplant trying to make it in the big Eorzea world. She came to live in Limsa Lominsa shortly after the Warrior of Light's raid on The Praetorium. After nursing her wounds from that night she made her living cooking, cleaning, and generally helping the Maelstrom in their day to day activities as an attempt to bring a sense of normalcy back into her life. She was extremely content with this life, finally believing that no matter how small she was making a difference. However, old habits die hard and she found herself staring out over the vast ocean dreaming of the battlefield and her sturdy companion Agatha (Her great axe). So she walked into the Marauders guild and signed up in hopes of becoming a member of the Yellowjackets and in turn help protect the people that had quickly worked their way into her heart.

Training with the Marauders was much like she remembered from her time in Garlemald, but unlike the residents of Limsa Lominsa the recruits and veterans didn't take to kindly to her enlistment under the Garlean banner. She was quickly shunned by her comrades and immediate command, often taking meals alone in the mess hall or to her inn room to avoid the ridicule and flying food her way. But she continued her training as a promise to the Guild Master to endure, to use these experiences to fuel her axe instead of impede her progress as a fighter. When she finally graduated from the Marauders Guild training she was bestowed with a gift from the Guild Master, a locket pendant with the embellishment of an Iris which held a chip of steel from her original Agatha blade the night she was rescued. Also inside the locket was the inscription "Two Feet" a mantra that Alyria can be found chanting to herself whenever she is going through a time of struggle or trying to push through in battle.

Surprisingly enough, Alyria did apply to become a Yellowjacket for Limsa Lominsa but was quickly denied due to her heritage. The receptionist was polite enough, empathy shined in her eyes as she delivered the news, but Alyria knew that the possibility of being a Garlean spy were too great to accept her into any kind of protection detail. Alone, directionless, and wandering she took on odd jobs for the residents outside the city walls. If you needed boulders broken - she was your woman. If you needed a dangerous animal or overaggressive beastman put down - you reached out to her. If you needed a final player for your local card game - she filled the seat. In this meandering existence Alyria found a new sense of purpose. One where the journey was more exciting than the final destination. And she enjoyed it.

Then one fateful night. Alyria walked into The Wayfarer's Rest for a drink... little did she know it was single's night.


PERSONALITY

Alyria tries to be respectful to everyone she meets, often times referring to newly met friends by a formal 'mister' or 'missus' title until the friendship deepens. She can be reserved at times and often clumsy when in an unfamiliar situation. However, just below the surface is a passionate heart just bursting to get back to enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

L I K E S

Traveling. Ever since she decided to pick up her axe and take to the field again as a hired hand Alyria has enjoyed traveling all over Eorzea to take in her beautiful sights. She only wishes she was strong enough to explore the more interesting hidden spaces, but perhaps would need to find a few like minded souls for those adventures.
Rum. Alyria's drink of choice is typically a dark spiced Rum. If she is not drinking it straight she would have it mixed with something sweet and creamy.
Fireside Conversation. If you strike up a conversation with her by a firepit, get comfortable because you will be there for a few hours.
Walks on the Beach. If Alyria isn't at the Rest she is most likely walking the beaches of the Mist daydreaming about the day when she has a home of her own near those sandy shores.

D I S L I K E S

Manipulation. She may fall for it once, but if you try to manipulate her to do anything against her better judgement or will expect to never see a friendly smile from her again.
Judgemental Minds. Everyone has things in their past they would rather forget and while the past makes us who we are today, it is the person standing before you that should matter not what they once were. If you prefer to judge others on what has past other than what is you won't find a friend in Alyria
The Bitter Cold. She is not a fan of Coerthas' weather patterns

H O B B I E S

Fishing. How could one not live in Limsa Lominsa for two years and not be drawn to this challenging pastime? Don't think fishing can be challenging? Let Aly show you how it's done then.

S T R E N G T H S

Strong Willed. Once she sets her mind to something.
Quick Witted. She is able to hold her own in a conversation or argument. She does not back down easily.
Empathetic' - In many cases she has been there and can be a steady shoulder for friends who need support.
Loyal' - If you earn her friendship she will stand by you against all the fire and brimstone thrown your way.

W E A K N E S S E S

Strong Willed. Sometimes our biggest strength is our biggest weakness. Once she sets her mind to something she has the tendency to chase after it without care for her own personal safety.
Romantic Relationships - She has been hurt, literally, by a past lover and is very 'fight or flight' when it comes to possible romantic advances. A few things could happen if approached incorrectly - She finds an exit to the conversation quickly, becomes agitated, or retreats inward becoming very quiet or reserved.

Alyria has a strong amount of respect for her Free Company leader and appreciated how welcoming L'rinhi was when she welcomed her into the Wayfarers. It's through L'rinhi, in one way or another, and the Wayfarer's Rest that she has met most of her friends in Eorzea. And for that Alyria will always feel in debt to this Miqo'te.
Benedict Whiteraven, Budding Friendship. ( ) -
Character's Thoughts: "He wants me to believe he is a drunkard with no future and the world has already defined him. But, if I don't believe it doesn't that mean that the world hasn't? Isn't there hope in that?"
Alyria has seen Benedict around the Rest a few times as she was practicing her bartending skills, or lack thereof. She never really had a chance to talk to him until after a grand masquerade when a few attendees made their way to the Wayfarer's Rest to continue the festivities. She noticed he seemed to gravitate to a specific woman, Aya, and assumed they were romantically involved so it confused her when they didn't leave together. As the evening came to a close and she began her nightly cleaning duties Benedict stayed to help and the two struck up a somber conversation. He expressed that he was a man trying to change his fate and the vision the world has defined him as, a drunk. Up to this point she never observed him have more than two drinks in a night so she didn't believe him. And secretly hopes that little tid bit gave her new friend a least a little bit of strength to continue on.

Alyria first met this characters, who she has affectionately dubbed 'Stranger', her first night at The Wayfarer's Rest when she accidentally wandered in during the monthly Singles Night. Against her best efforts to meld into the background or become a faceless figure in the crowd Stranger approached her for a quick conversation. Perhaps it was the four shots worth of rum she gulped after his approach or the dangerous essence coming off him, but she decided to allow the conversation continue. By the end of the evening the two were gambling over a simple High/Low dice game where Alyria walked away the winner with a prize of three secrets, three future drinks, and a small piece of paper.
