Amjra Lilac (pronounced ah-MEE-ra LIE-lac) is a Viera adventurer hailing from Dalmasca. She is also known as the proprietor of a bar and night club called the Cactuar Club. Loud and boorish in mannerisms, Amjra has become a familiar face to the many people she has crossed paths with during her decade-long journey from Dalmasca to Eorzea. Currently, she travels with three other companions who have made the Cactuar Club their base of operations, and serves as the face of the party (whether or not the others think it is a good idea).

Appearance & Personality

Amjra is a Rava Viera with crimson eyes that she describes as 'Valens red', after the indescribably rare Dalmascan wine. She is a natural brunette, but dyes her hair often as a coping mechanism. Her skin is a golden brown, like many other Rava, and she has a muscular build that she takes great effort in maintaining. Amjra is of middling height by her race's standards, though she towers over most native Eorzean women. She has a voice with a deep timbre, reflecting her rougher, more rugged personality. As Amjra was raised away from Viera culture, she lacks the tattoos and tribal markings that are commonly seen among her people.

Amjra is fierce and passionate, and never hesitates to make her thoughts known. Many find her difficult to work with due to her personality, and so Amjra finds herself working on her own more often than not. She is not openly bothered by her solitude, and is confident in her ability to function on her own. Despite her irresponsible behaviour, when she takes on a job, she usually puts in enough effort to finish it. When it comes to things that Amjra is passionate about, however, she is meticulous and hardworking, and finds a sense of pride in admiring her own work. Her passion for meeting new people and finding new experiences led to her eventually establishing her own bar. Amjra is fearless (often mistaken for reckless), and willingly jumps into dangerous situations just to prove a point. However, she will not take on impossible odds, and finds no shame in running away. The only thing that consistently manages to unnerve Amjra is the presence of Garlean imperials on Eorzean soil.

Biography

Childhood

In the days prior to Garlean occupation of Dalmasca, Basch van Gabranth's cohorts sought out Viera from the Golmore Jungle to aid in their conquest. One of these Viera was a woman named Vrjsha, who was just over a hundred summers old at the time. Despite the fact that she was with child, Vrjsha proved herself an indispensable asset to the Garlean war effort, gaining the personal favour of Basch van Gabranth. Given the rank of Frumentarius, Vrjsha eir Gabranth then gave birth to a healthy Viera kit named Amjra in the now-subjugated capital of Dalmasca, Rabanastre, under the protection of House Gabranth.

Growing up, Amjra had a troubled childhood. Viera, while not completely unseen in Dalmasca, were still a rare sight, and Amjra was subjected to the judgmental gazes of the public from an early age. This was further exacerbated by her mother's frequent absences to go on covert operations, leaving the young Amjra in foster care. While she was afforded the privilege of a Garlean education, she was shunned by her Garlean peers for being a low-blooded savage, and ostracised by Dalmascans for being the progeny of a traitor. Amjra spent most of her childhood alone, with no one to turn to. As time passed, Amjra grew to be distant from her mother, and fostered a growing hatred for the Garlean authority that held Dalmasca in their iron grasp.

Teenage

In time, Amjra became known as a delinquent who spent most of her school hours playing truant or getting into fights. Due to the status of House Gabranth, Amjra was never subjected to any significant repercussions, and was allowed to remain in school despite her disciplinary problems. Her barely-passing grades allowed her to scrape by, even as her reputation made her even more of an outcast. It was around this time that her relationship with her mother worsened, and Amjra eventually got herself involved with groups that would eventually form the backbone of the Dalmascan resistance. Hiding her identity, Amjra learned how to fight by training with these resistance factions, hoping to someday retake the capital. The resistance members were the only people willing to accept her for who she was, rather than who she was associated with. She became known as 'Lilac' - the young Viera recruit who was quickly becoming an important member of the Dalmascan rebellion... though in her heart, Amjra feared that she would be rejected as well if they knew her mother was an intelligence operative for the Garlean Empire.

All that changed during an ill-fated operation. The resistance faction Amjra associated with was raided by imperials while she was away at school. When she returned, she found her mother overseeing the disposal of the corpses of her comrades, being dragged away in body bags. Amjra snapped and attacked her mother, but was easily overwhelmed by her mother's experience and Garlean troops. She learned later during her imprisonment that it was her involvement with the group that eventually led her mother to discover their hideout. Having had enough of her 'youthful delusions', Vrjsha eir Gabranth would then request Amjra's transportation via airship back to Garlemald to be 'rehabilitated' into an ideal Garlean citizen, far away from any dreams of rebellion.

En route to the Ilsabardian continent, the airship crashed at sea due to a violent storm. Amjra was rescued by a Thavnairian vessel and brought to Radz-at-Han, where she was left to her own devices. Knowing her mother most likely assumed she was dead, Amjra began a new life as a traveler, trying to leave her past behind and abandoning any lofty wishes of saving others. She began learning a number of skills to earn money, as well as trying her hand at being a mercenary.

Present

Amjra spent five years in Thavnair, wandering with no purpose but to survive. Eventually, having garnered a bad reputation among Thavnairian moneylenders for her wild spending habits, Amjra boarded the quickest ship to Eorzea and sailed away to freedom. Amjra has spent the last five years doing the same thing as she did in Thavnair; wander, work, and accrue a sizable collection of angry creditors. Currently, she travels with a group of adventurers and works as a mercenary, though she operates a secret bar and night club as well under the alias 'Lilac'.

Rumours

Some of these rumors are untrue or are greatly exaggerated. Please feel free to add your own rumors under PC!

◢ Common Rumours (Easily overheard)
That woman is pretty scary... I heard she was cornered by an Ul'dahn gang but walked out without a scratch.
Oh, 'Lilac'? Yeah, heard she's a bartender operating from the Goblet. Pretty well-known around there.
You don't see a lot of Viera around here. Must be from Dalmasca or somethin'....
◢ Moderate Rumours (Moderately difficult to overhear)
That Viera behind the bar is apparently in severe debt... but don't tell her I told you that!
She's got a hell of a body count, that one. Don't get too comfortable with her, dear.
Supposedly, she's formerly from Garlemald... or a Garlean colony, though she throws out anyone who brings it up.
◢ Rare Rumours (Very difficult or rarely overheard)
Apparently, 'Lilac' was once involved with Dalmascan rebels. Probably fled for her life.
I heard that bartender possesses the last bottle of Valens red on the continent...
Rabanastre was destroyed, wasn't it? Isn't that Viera from there?

Relations

Romantic Interest Platonic Love Good Standing Poor Standing
Name : Description
Lihli Mimieux : One of the few people who know of Amjra's past, Amjra encountered Lihli at Mealvaan's Gate in Limsa Lominsa. Lihli took pity on Amjra, who was stranded in Limsa Lominsa at the time after drinking away funds meant to be spent on passage back home. Lihli offered a place in her party for Amjra on their travels, and Amjra happily accepted. Her party members were not so kind, but Lihli remained generous and welcoming to Amjra. Amjra eventually settled into a close platonic relationship with Lihli after the latter calmed her down from one of her regular nightmares of home, and told her all about her past in Dalmasca. Now, Amjra treats Lihli like a younger sister, and is fiercely protective of her.
Cirina Rina : A member of her party, Cirina's cheerful nature naturally gels well with Amjra's boisterousness. Cirina is fairly new to the adventuring life, and particularly enjoy listening to Amjra regaling her with tales of her travels. The poor Lalafell has difficulty separating truth from exaggeration, however, and more often than not ends up believing Amjra's tall tales, no matter how outlandish they might seem. Cirina, being formerly of Ul'dahn nobility, has similarly bad spending habits, and the two of them cause the other party members much grief.
Fuuka Tachibana : Another member of her party, the taciturn Au Ra has kept a distance from Amjra. While Amjra was initially taken by the Raen Au Ra's beautiful appearance, Fuuka is adamant about keeping Amjra at arm's length, much to her chagrin. Fuuka begrudgingly accepted Amjra into the party after relentless badgering from both Lihli and Cirina, but still refuses to accept her as a 'true' member of the party. In her own words, she only keeps Amjra around 'so we have a place to go home to', and that once that arrangement falls apart, they will be on their way.
