Appearance / Presence

Moth is a duskwight elezen of average height. He stands at roughly six fulm and four ilms tall and boasts an athletically slender build, lending him well towards running or perhaps dancing. To accentuate this, he walks upon a pair of long, strong legs with a soft step but a straight and balanced posture. Given that though, he’s long fallen into the bad habit of letting his shoulders droop and slope.

Oddly for one of his kind however, when in cities, Moth dresses very well. Crisp shirts with dark trousers and knee high socks are commonplace for him, as is a long coat made of thick, luxurious red fabric. He's no more than a glorified and faithful retainer, though. It's nothing but a uniform. Still, Moth wears it with pride. Even if the hat drives him up the wall.

No matter how well he’s dressed though, the elezen can't seem to shake the faint smell of straw and chocobo from his body. At times, it's also possible to catch a strong whiff of alcohol. This is particularly evident around the evenings and mornings.

Facially, Moth has clearly lead a life of stress and perhaps a little unexpectedly, adventure, if the scar stretching across his forehead, the bridge of his nose and then his cheek is anything to go by. Another one nicks the opposite side of his face, but it's a lot less substantial. He has the traces of crows feet pressed into the corner of his eyes and a perpetual darkness around them; it's fairly easy to deduce he perhaps isn't the best of sleepers. Moth’s hair is also plagued with a smattering of premature greying. Silver over navy, and he seems to have a particularly noticeable streak in his fringe.

Recently, he’s been seen more regularly with a pair of reading glasses and seems to have developed a fondness for a leather flat cap.

You may know Moth if...

■ Moth is mostly around either The Black Shroud or Limsa Lominsa (refer to rumours), but mostly keeps to himself. However, he has been arrested by the Woodwailers (duskwights, yo) on more than one occasion.

■ If your character was in the Maelstrom twenty four to sixteen years ago and/or involved with the battle of Carteneau.

Amongst the older Maelstrom veterans, it may be known Moth (then known as Aubineaux, or Aubin) was once a Storm Coporal and a talented medic, employing the use of conjuration. However, his trust and reputation went shattered during and after the Calamity when he came into a place of power. A lot of people died due to his orders and he was labeled a traitor and deserter, ultimately finding himself dishonorably discharged.

It was after this that he unofficially changed his given name.

RUMOURS ◢ (Gridania) SOME SAY... ■ ... there’s a ghostly rider that plagues the Shroud in the small hours of the morning and night. He comes and goes without reason, a dark, shadowy figure sat atop a midnight chocobo, armed with a lance and wearing a cloak of made of blood and the souls of those unfortunate to find themselves in his path. He gallops when on the hunt, but otherwise takes a slow, ethereal walk. Some say the phantom’s presence is accompanied by an eerie lament, mourning a lost love. ■ ... there’s a chocobo thief hanging around Gridania! He’s been seen with an Ishgardian chocobo and even a common yellow one. The Woodwailers arrested him not too long ago, and there’s been no thefts since. Where is he, though?! Bolt your doors, folks! ■ ... that he's nothing but a Twelvesdamned fraud, with his fancy clothes and careful step. Everyone can hear that Lominsan lilt in his voice! ◢ (Limsa Lominsa) SOME SAY... ■ "... He misses them both, especially his father's counsel, dearly. Unfortunately, their separation for so long is very unintentional. Marie Caulaire: Her existence is currently unknown to Moth. Demont: As is Demont's. Work & Colleagues (Past and present): ●● Sybilette d'Morien: Moth's 'wildwood' employer. An aging and highly eccentric duskwight alchemist lucky enough to pass as a wildwood and crafty enough to play it to her advantage. Rumour has it her late (and Ishgardian noble) husband was almost four times her age... Either way, Moth enjoys working for her; the pay is good and he has a lodgings in her residence. He's been in her service for seven years and has long become accostomed to her many quirks and oddities. ●● Jahki Azhaan: A second retainer in Sybilette's employ and so, essentially Moth's counterpart. The pair get on well depsite Moth's habit of holding people at a distance. She delights in teasing him and is genuinely convinced he got the job just so Sybilette'd have some 'eye-candy'. The pair of them have since become more trusted servants to the woman. ●●●Second Storm Lieutenant Helbharrwyn: Moth appreciates his life. Therefore, he'll stay well out of her way. He'd like to make a point that her hatred is very much not reciprocated. ◢ Player Characters </3 ◢ Companions ♥ Oisaile: A black Ishgardian (if a little runty, she can't fly) chocobo officially owned by Sybilette. However, Moth is her sole caretaker and he'd not have it any other way.
