Appearance

Avalyn isn't a very imposing figure. She stands just an ilm over the average height for midland hyur. Her build is rather soft and undefined, except for her legs. They are only slightly defined due to all the walking she does on a daily basis. She can be quick on her feet if she sets her mind to it, but she usually relies on her magic to defend herself, which is made evident by the fact she is rarely without her staff or tome.

She was clearly made to reside in temperate, shady locales. She has very fair, white skin, freckles dotting her face and any other place that sees sunlight. Her hair, which was cropped short not long ago, is a deep, fiery red against her light complexion. Her large, doe eyes, are somewhere between blue and green. Depending on what light she's in, they can pass for either color, but in some places they are a nice mixture of both colors; the color of the ocean.

As for how she dresses, it depends on where she is. When she is in her native Gridania, she wears robes of earth or muted tones and boots that are suited for long walks through the forest. While in hotter regions like Thanalan or La Noscea, she isn't afraid to show some skin for the sake of comfort. She doesn't understand why people would look down on her for this, as she does it to keep cool, not to invite lecherous glances. But no matter what she wears, she always carries the scent of flowers.

Personality

Avalyn seems to be an example of the 'girl next door' archetype. She is somewhat quiet, yet polite, and very friendly if the person she speaks to returns the favor. She makes it a habit to speak to people who are standing alone, in hopes of making a new friend and making sure the person isn't lonely. She has met quite a few people this way.

But though she was once shy and easily flustered, she has changed. She seems more confident and bold. Her old self can still shine through in certain situations, with certain people. With most people she meets, she can be somewhat quiet, but she is less scared of speaking her mind. Months of bad experiences have bolstered her. She has learned she must stand up for herself and defend her honor, because there might not be anyone else around willing to do so. To some peoples' surprise, this might mean using less than nice language. Another lesson she has learned is some won't listen unless you use their own language against them.

He is the reason she is slower to trust and more wary, but also the reason she has forced herself to be stronger. They have a son together named Ryat.
