Appearance

Raz stands slightly taller than the average Miqo'te male, with a slim frame and rough skin that is unusually dark for a Keeper. Perhaps his most striking feature are his eyes: a bright amber -- like whiskey, sharp and intense. He's usually seen with a dirt-streaked face and muddy boots, his grubby hair usually covered with some kind of headwear. He's possessed of light, scruffy body and facial hair. If, however, he has to be around the "higher class" he will shave his face and tidy up. His cheeks are freckled, making him look even more boyish.

History

Razz was born in the gutters on Limsa Lominsa, raised on the streets like so many other orphans. He has no memory of any family -- as far as he's concerned, they either died or simply left him. Most likely they were pirates -- rotten and selfish. Either way, he doesn't dwell on it much, accepting the fact as something he can't change.

Since he was a very young child he spent a lot of his time by the docks, begging for a few gil or doing odd jobs where he could. These odd jobs usually came from the various pirates and sea folk who flocked to Limsa, looking for someone to run their illicit goods in their stead. Eventually, he became familiar to the pirates who were based in his city. One such crew made a habit of offering him a safe floor to sleep on and some bread to eat, in return for scrubbing the decks of their ship-- The Scoundrel's Lass, and whatever else they needed doing.

One of the pirates, another Keeper by the name of Khuma'z Amaril, acted as a sort of surrogate mother to him. It was from her that Raz derived his surname.

It was on the Scoundrel's Lass that he later met Isabella, a kindly Arcanist who sought passage aboard the ship. She took a liking to Raz and, perhaps out of pity, offered to teach him how to read and write. This sparked an interest in him, and upon her return to Limsa Lominsa, continued to study his reading and writing skills.

Areas of Expertise

  • Martial: Razz has been in many brawls in his life and can throw a decent punch. He's also fast on his feet. Due to his upbringing he's also familiar shivs.
  • Crafting: Due to lack of funds Razz has spent the majority of his life patching up his worn clothes, and as a result knows some of the basics of working with cloth and other such fabrics.

Razz also enjoys fishing, though this is more of a hobby.

  • Other: Being small and lithe, Razz can move quietly when he needs to, which has served him well when "borrowing" foodstuff from market stalls. He's also fairly fast should he need to run.

Strengths

  • Fiercely loyal to those who have proved to be friends.
  • Honest (when it really counts, anyway).
  • He's a fast learner when something interests him.
  • Spontaneous.
  • Razz is eager to accomplish whatever task he's set himself, be it big or small.

Weaknesses

  • Can be mistrustful of people's intentions toward him.
  • Impulsive, sometimes to the point of recklessness.
  • Trouble adapting to the world outside of the underbelly of Limsa.
  • Somewhat stubborn.
  • Undisciplined. He does things his own way, in his own time.

Other Notes

Religion

Razz isn't one for piety, preffering to put his stock in things he can see. However, when things get especially tough you might hear him muttering a short prayer.

Quirks

  • You'll rarely see Razz without some kind of headwrap or hat.
  • He fidgets something awful and is always seen toying with his earrings.
  • For whatever reason, Razz is always hot to the point of sweating most of the time.
  • He has a few piercings and a small, badly done tattoo of an anchor which are usually concealed under his clothes.

Equipment

Whatever he can get his hands on. Usually old tatty leathers, a small satchel and his grimoire. He always carries a shiv in his boot.

Rumours

Uncommon rumours

Rare rumours

  • "Ah, I remember Razz. Scab, they use'ta call 'im, when he was a small lad. Always had scuffed 'n bloody knees."
