Cessna Forsythe (14th Sun, 4th Astral Moon) is a fledgling thaumaturge at the Arrzaneth Ossuary in the city-state of Ul'dah. Hailing from the docks of Limsa Lominsa, she traveled to Ul'dah to pursue her education in the finer nuances of higher aetheric control and flux -- seemingly out of duty to her family, who is concerned about her career choices (or lack thereof). Her thaumaturgical pursuits have proven to be something she's heavily invested in, however, and so she currently travels around the Thanalan (and occasionally forays into the Shroud), carrying out quests set by the Thaumaturge's Guild and any other clandestine requests she comes across that are on the way, which may or may not include the occasional spot of mercenary work.

Appearance & Personality

Cessna has shoulder-length black hair, gold eyes, and fair skin -- her complexion owing to having spent more time indoors than out, despite hailing from the sunny ports of Limsa Lominsa. Her distinguishing feature is a small mole under her left eye. She is of average height, but appears rather diminutive in comparison to her two older brothers (it's become something of a sore point for her). When idle, her default facial expressions tend to lean towards disinterested unless something piques her interest significantly, i.e. grilled fish.

Cessna is, by nature, fairly cheerful and rather easygoing; she has a tendency to put things off for later, or end up not doing it at all if she forgets completely. (Once you get her going, however, it's difficult to shake her from what she's set her heart on.) One would think that growing up in the shadow of two older siblings -- both accomplished in their own rights -- would instill in the girl some sort of desire to prove herself equally as illustrious, but frankly, she's perfectly happy leaving the spotlight to her brothers. (Typical textbook example of an underachiever.) She also prefers to focus on one thing at a time, and feels that taking on several responsibilities all at once is an endeavour she'd rather not attempt for fear of getting not a single one of them done. She has a strong sense of justice, but much remains to be said about her occasionally unorthodox methods of getting things done.

In her free time, she'd rather stay home than be out and about, but if adventure calls (and calls for a certain degree of mischief and Burning Things), it's not something she's wont to turn down. She loathes the idea of getting physically injured, however, and prefers to book it once the going gets too tough.

Fire excites her. Hide your flammables.

Biography

Cessna was born to fairly well-off merchant parents in the city-state of Limsa Lominsa. The youngest of three siblings, she spent most of her time keeping to herself at home, slowly consuming the family library little by little. This inclination for staying indoors was the result of a brief childhood affliction, which rendered her sensitive to excess sun exposure for a certain period of time. Despite the condition lasting rather briefly, it left Cessna wary of staying outside in the sun for too long -- a habit she's carried all the way to adulthood to some degree, despite being perfectly healthy at present. (Her newfound penchant for short, vicarious thrills, however, renders this particular habit null and void nine times out of ten once she gets her gears going.) Her older brothers Pascal (a dragoon) and Hellen (a paladin) are the pride and joy of the Forsythe name; Cessna is expected to follow in her brothers' footsteps and go off on grand adventures, making a name for herself like her brothers have, but she'd really rather stay (laze) at home and maybe help with the family shipping and mercantile trade. Her parents, however, are of an entirely different mind and express deep concern about their youngest's seeming lack of ambition.

Childhood

Cessna grew up in a household in want of nothing; she was a cheerful child who spent long hours with her nose buried in books of all sorts. Her brothers Hellen and Pascal often regaled their little sister with play-fights, stories of lofty aspirations, and -- as they grew in their respective specializations -- tales of their various quests and pursuits in hopes that their youngest would find something to love and pursue as well from an early age, but it seemed all young Cessna was happy to do was listen to her older brothers tell war stories, and then run off to read about several more in the comfort of their home. This concerned her family in growing intensity as she grew older; her erstwhile sensitivity to the sun had long since disappeared, and she was a happy child -- all things considered -- but her love of spending more time indoors than going out to play with others her age was something the Forsythes deemed rather strange. What concerned them even more, however, was the fact that at the age where most older children would start dreaming of training in certain disciplines, whether of craft or of battle, Cessna would shrug, turning back to her books and saying something noncommittal about wanting to stay close to home for the time being.

Teenage

When Cessna turned eighteen and still showed little to no sign of the adventurous drive that her brothers had at the same age, preferring to stay home and help with their business's clerical work or while the hours away listening to the merchant sailors sharing colourful stories of their various foibles, her parents decided it was time to do something about it. Using their daughter's love for knowledge as leverage, they convinced her to agree to studying thaumaturgy in the city-state of Ul'dah, nestled deep in the desert. Cessna was promptly shipped over to Ul'dah with little fuss, and began her training as a fledgling thaumaturge shortly after.

(Cessna knew perfectly well that her parents just wanted to see her start doing something with her life. Arguing would have been fruitless and a waste of time, and what harm could there be in learning how to harness her aetheric power, which was something she'd encountered in literature many times over? Besides, "deep introspection" didn't sound as taxing as the other more physical disciplines did.)

Present

Despite her initial doubts about spending a good chunk of her foreseeable future far away from home and family, Cessna found that life in Ul'dah wasn't as bad as it seemed. The constant influx of people in the main thoroughfares was something she needed a little getting used to, but the proprietress of the Quicksand, Mistress Momodi, quickly became a familiar and friendly face in the sea of adventurers that came and went. Cessna's thaumaturgical studies turned out to interest her greatly, and she quickly got up to speed as she discovered a taste for engaging in battle with little to no direct physical contact (and, consequently, an almost childlike glee in setting things on fire).

She is currently focused on furthering her magical abilities to as far as she can take them, and picks up the occasional levequest or two if it a) piques her interest, and b) doesn't interfere directly with her thaumaturgical studies, since she is perfectly aware of the fact that she gets easily distracted when there's too much on her plate.

Miscellaneous

■ Cessna, to her great chagrin, discovered a latent airsickness upon riding her first airship to Gridania; any and all of her excitement for the novelty of air travel was quickly thrown aside in a scramble for the sickbag.
■ Cessna hails from Limsa Lominsa, but for the sake of simplicity (and ease should city-state censuses be held) she has been reestablished as a citizen of Ul'dah for the duration of her stay, which doesn't look like it's ending anytime soon.
■ She loves, loves, loves chocobo travel and the speeds to which she can take it -- to the chagrin of whoever is unfortunate enough to be riding with her.
