Except after a while the benefactors suspected the father was attempting to weasel out of his servitude, and so the Knights of Barracuda were anonymously tipped off on a "major pirate den" at Chani's residence. Acting on this information, the Knights ransacked the place, setting it ablaze and arresting the three brothers. Luckily (or not so?), Chani's escape was masked by the ensuing takedown of her brothers. As for the fate of her father... well, none of it she's very sure on. And as there's nothing she's been able to do (or find) in the ten years since, Chani has drifted on with her life.

A loudmouth and tomfool, Chani is knowledge-starved and thrill-seeking. Trouble's her name and danger's her game. She acts out of her best interests and isn't above pushing someone under the choco-coach if it means another day of life in her lungs. I advise you to watch your pockets around this one: what's yours is hers, and what's hers is hers. And expect the unexpected. Or maybe she's predictably unpredictable. Good luck!

'''Weight:''' Approx 70 ponz (She's actually a feather in cat's pajamas)

A slight sprite of a creature with an elfin countenance, Fhae is like... a ''cute shadow''... a ''wisp of smoke'', a... yeah. No hint of a swordsman in her. Athletics? Hah. She's a runt. Her twig-like frame is riddled with scars, scratches, burns, bruises - the whole shabam, really - and it makes you wonder: "What has this Miqo'te gotten herself into?"

She is addicted to pipe-grass among various other substances and can be found with a glazed, glassy, hard, or absent look to her otherwise downcast, dark-circled eyes. She clears her throat often and has a cough despite a voice that sounds like gentle rain.

If I get to pick a pig-tail hairstyle in character customization, that's what she's getting.

Fhae has a black-and-brown grungey-meets-hippie flare to her fashion: some boots made explicitly for stomping (or none at all), fishnet-to-tribal-pattern stockings and armlets, waist-cinching belts, and short cropped attire or flowing, gypsy-esque clothing - to name a few, the degree of her "clash" actually depends on her mood and the occasion. On a bad day she's a boy.

Due to a "misunderstanding" of... some variety, Fhae had the tips of her ears and tail cut off. She pretends it is not so.

Besides that, she adorns what remains of her ears with two chainlink earrings - a waning red moon on the left and blazing blue sun on the right. These shapes and their colours represent the loss of her anonymous mother, the moon, and father-figure, her sun. Around her neck she wears a choker and bell-pendant - tinkling like wind-chimes with the subtlest of movements. And when she feels like it: beads, string, flowers and silver wherever she can dangle or tie it.

===History===

----

'''1562'''. The Fray - ''birth of an orphan.''

<spoiler>The midwife retreated a step, bloodied palms out-stretched. A sombre silence filled the room; not even the newborn had a tear to shed. Their shock gradually subsided.

"She stills... ... ... Ailis! How fairs the infant?" The midwife turned to the White Mage adjacent to her, eyeing the baby cradled within a blanket there.

"Q-Quiet. She's... quiet." Was the cloak's reply; apparently distracted by the "absence" of the body on the delivery table.

"A Keeper of the Moon." The midwife breathed, sighing her strain to the night.

"A blood-moon." The hood answered frostily. "Nymeia pricks herself upon the spindle and frays the weave."

"Spare me your superstitions, child. The mother - who was she?"

"She gave nothing save her name... and pleaded '''help''.'"

The midwife shambled tiredly towards Ailis and lay a red finger atop the infant's forehead.

"Then we will help her. What was the name?"

"Cima Fhae."</spoiler>

'''1570'''. Artless - ''don't need no education.''

<spoiler>"... which is translated into 'renascence' or 'renewal.' This rune here, with the circle-within-circles and... ... .... Cima! FHAE!" Her voice cracked like a whip - Ailis was a terrible force to provoke, and an easy one at that. A moment passed.

And then a snore erupted from Fhae, age eight.

With a curse and "Thaliak, you missed one," Ailis the White Mage rose, stalking up to the sleeping Miqo'te and cuffing her sharply on the head. The child started with a jump, and then took to cupping her injured crown.

"Wha..- Owww! ... Ailis? Oh... Gods be fair... It's a nightmare." Fhae looked up to hold Ailis's glare with the remark; wide-eyed, deliberate and challenging.

"Shut it child, you're in the waking world - and mine at that. Now what is that rune?" She flicked her wand in the direction of the illustration without looking at it - and Fhae noted the sparkle of contempt in the Mage's eye as she watched her.

Fhae heaved a sighed and gave her own eyes a sleepy rub before peering at the hanging scroll. ''Emphasis on the center...'' "Rune of 'sight', Miss."

"Focus, actually." Ailis smirked.

"Same fecking difference, I'm sure." She counters with a yawn, shrugging back into her seat.

"I don't know where a Miqo'te of eight picks up this sort of slander, and I don't '''want''' to know. You are a lost cause, girl - never doing your work, insulting teachers, absent at lessons, I really ought-..."

"Hey Miss, just a question, but mind telling me what's been stuck up your arse these past eight years? Or I recently learned a new word - 'sadistic' - and a certain person comes to mind! I mean, I saw the way you smiled right now, and that glow in your eyes-!... You must be having '''a lot''' of fun, huh?" And then Fhae stared up at her instructor with the most angelic expression she could muster in that particular moment. But she almost lost it.

It was like Ailis had a full-body twitch. Fhae tried not to laugh out loud. And my, did she turn red. "Get. Out. Beast." The White Mage rumbled - and if her eyes had been daggers, well...

"Gladly, Ailis." And she did. And that was the end of that. ''It's all billy-goat shite anyway.''</spoiler>

'''1571'''. Strays - ''home is where the heart is.''

'''1572'''. "Cranberries and Walnuts" - ''birds of a feather flock together.''

'''1573'''. Shine in the Buff - ''gemstones for grimoires.''

<spoiler>The boat rocked to a gentle push-pull force and she was happy that the waters in this cove were serene, mild and melodious. ''Even pirate-shouts can be easy on the ears. Funny lot.'' Somewhere a bird began to sing, the sound waning and lifting on the breeze.

The padding of footsteps became an offbeat for the sea's soothing symphony, and by the sound it could only be one - her one. Arms of a faded blue, broad and muscular, folded over the ship's railing to her right; a mimick of her own relaxed but inquiring stance. He smelled of that plant-stuff that always made him euphoric and sentimental. After several moments of casual silence there was his breath, and then a large finger pointing purpose.

"D'ya sees it, Fhae? Ov'r there, nay far off now!"

''See what.'' She adjusted her angle and searched the horizon, poor sight squinting. A shroud - so subtle in its approach that Fhae would've thought it always there - of small, glowing orbs shined and shimmered and danced for the dazed crew.

Voices whispered from behind, "Llymlaen leads true", "A wreck, that is", "The sky! The sky! Mark how it glitters! Pure aether, there", "Are those glow-bugs?",  "Nym"...

And then the crumbling stone came into view. An etch of moss crept along the ruins, betraying the length of its decay. Even in its descent into time Fhae thought it beautiful. And past the bird's chorus Fhae could've sworn she heard a distant... laugh. ''A girl's?''

"Can we disembark Fohcs? Can we?" She blurted with a sudden wave of anticipation - anticipation for... something, something she felt there.

"Mys, ain' we anxious! We're in th' job of '''access''', Kit. O'course we're ge'in' off - we gotta stick our paws on any'thin' n' e'ry'thin'. There's gil t' be 'ad 'ere."

She sucked in a sharp breath, excitement thrown to the back-burner.

"Is this the surprise you thought so sly?" In her most charming of sneers. He regarded her for a moment... and she observed the cross of a soft thought.

"It's a lost place, Fhae. Chao'ic 'n calm...- I sees you 'ere. Gracef'lly wild in th' dep'hs of a sinkin' world." And then that smile. "I've been 'ere before - ye'll like it."

''Whatever you say.'' With a look back to the drowning island, "Fohcs, tell me of this place."

"Well-... 'n 'ere's th' bes' par', re'lly." He gave a conspicuous check from side to side before leaning down to ear-shot, not-really-whispering, "It's 'ome t' faeries, Fhae." TBC.</spoiler>

'''1575'''. This Crazy Little Thing - ''called love.''

'''1575'''. Farewell, Fohcs - ''and the sun stops rising.''

'''1576'''. Senseless - ''she doesn't play the victim.''

'''1577'''. Faeries and Tails - ''the adventure begins.''

A mouse of a Miqo'te: quiet, timid and independent. She's a recluse, preferring to hermit and lay-low unless her work demands otherwise. When it comes to interactions she can be perceived as "batty" or strange, even flaky (flitting in and out of social situations), and experiences anxiety in the lime-light. She likes the night for its absence of folk and blurring of identity. Of people, Fhae is intuitive when it comes to reading the motives and desires of others. She isn't like other girls her age and can handle dark, morbid stuff well (marked by her dry, adult humour), but that isn't to say she's not a kid. The better you know her, the more childish she is. She has a Peter Pan complex.

She's a cat of material possessions and considers herself a "collector," but thrifty; conserving her gil wherever she can. She also prides herself on being her own provider. Fhae's clueless in areas of "common" knowledge: politics and cultures to name a few, but street-smart and savvy with things like botany and mechanics. She displays interest in chemistry and history.

Fhae operates under the guise of a "courier." In sketchier scenarios, she claims to be the "runner." In both cases she is the "middle man." She refers to her occupation as "Finders, Keepers," and can be discovered through grapevine marketing and/or innocent posters on tavern walls, etc. To hire, it is encouraged that you send word (safely) through friends or via carrier pigeon. Or something. Will work out the details on a later date.

Also, obviously, no reaaal gil is required for this role-play idea, I just wanna have an excuse to mingle with all sorts of character breeds (and have fun doing it!). The price of her services would be pretend-gil or shinies of some-sort or another. She collects rabbit trinkets.

I'm not sure what my schedule will be like at the time of release, but I hope to be able to invest a good chunk of my time into gaming and such. This should work with my character concept as Fhae doesn't (necessarily) exist as a journeying companion (though adventure is FTW) and will be making appearances in small doses (I'm hoping medium doses, but...), due to the nature of her business and shy personality.

====Wanted for Interesting Roleplay====

''If your character fits any of these thur things here and you find yourself interested, feel free to message me on the RPC or via IG (when ARR is officially out). Whether the relationship is predetermined by us or established through role-play, I don't really care. Just don't be shy to approach me!''

• Clients, customers and business associates: If your character needs something of the black-market variety, Fhae can help them out. If your character supplies something of the black-market variety, Fhae can help them out. Under, over, and under the table.

• Law enforcement-types: The law and Fhae don't really see eye-to-eye.

• Doctors and medicine-men: Fhae is accustomed to the "rough life" by now, but that doesn't mean [when she holds her own in a stick-up] she doesn't need medical help.

She's a small, shapely thing - a once gawky foundation turned to womanform. Or turning, judging by the chub of her cheeks and occasional stumbles, fumbles and tumbles (she's a ditsy helmsman). Her voice is bubbly and boisterous (inside voice? what inside voice?) and her tongue as foul as a sailor's. A tad of fire touches her blonde hair and her eyes are the sky and the sea. Beyond that, no real noteworthy brands. She's got a dim-witted smile though.

History

All Along the Watchtower

Chani grew up as a typical Lominsan youth: playing pirates, pulling pranks on tourists, pissing off the deckhands... She was happy (even with three older brothers tormenting her mercilessly.) Unfortunately her mother caught a cold, and it developed, and one can see where this leads to. Except before her passing, their was hope. An expensive one. The family's father (a failing merchant) said "'Ey!"... and turned to gambling. If he could just get that jackpot! Needles to say, he racked up some serious monetary debts (the drinking didn't help). And when the hope faded and the family should've moved on... well, he approached a pirate gang for financial assistance.
