Backstory

Not much is known about Drekki in the time before the fall of her people, as she rarely speaks of it. Daughter to a pair of traders from the Kha clan, her group had struck out from the clan, traveling into the Hinterlands to seek new ventures in a foreign land. However, the Ishgardians present in the region did not take kindly to the group of strangers, putting them to the sword to drive them from the land. In the chaos, Drekki was separated from the other survivors, becoming lost in a wilderness unknown to her. Days went by as she wandered, barely surviving as she staggered through the lands. Nearing collapse, see managed to find her way to Tailfeather, where she was set upon by a creature of darkness, what she later learned to be a voidsent. It lashed out at her, striking her eye, the limbal light fading from it to this very day. When all hope was lost, a miqo'te carrying a large sword stood between her and the foe, defending her from the horror that had scarred her. The miqo introduced herself as C'iri, a voidsent hunter living with the hunters of Tailfeather, though their travels had taken them far enough to recognize Drekki for what she was. Offering her sanctuary in a land where she would likely be harassed, C'iri took Drekki under her wing, mentoring her in the ways of fighting. The near-death experience had changed Drekki, her fear of the creatures compounding with her anger and sadness of losing her family and friends, turning into a burning resolve to vanquish those that would do harm to others, be they man or beast.

After years of training with C'iri, the moment came when Au Ra could travel the lands unfettered. C'iri bade her journey to Eorzea and learn what she could of the culture and people, as following her on her travels would make for a sheltered life. Having nothing but some coin given to her by her mentor and an old spear she had given her to train with, she set out from Tailfeather to begin her adventure. She warily crossed through Ishgardian territory, never fully trusting them after their persecution of her people and violence against her clan. She made it to the Shroud, where she set to board an airship to take her to Limsa, where she could see the vast waters of the realm. After arriving in Limsa, she was accosted by a group of Roegadyn sailors, who persuaded her to share a drink with them. She immediately fell in love with their accent, and set to work practicing it during her time in Limsa.

To make ends meet, she joined on with the Dawn Riders, a group of mercenaries operating out of a tavern in The Mists. She had humble beginnings, starting off learning the bartending trade. Living in the wilderness with C'iri had given her an appreciation for booze, though her definition of the term was quite loose. Access to booze being slim in the wilderness, she had been taught to brew rot-gut alcohol referred to fondly as "Armor Polish" by C'iri using makeshift stills and less-than-reputable resources. Eventually, she became a regular member of the Dawn Riders, helping them with tasks such as hostage rescue and bandit hunting. Having acquired enough coin to earn some luxury, she ventured to The Gold Saucer, where she enjoyed the various games of chance with great delight. Upon perusing their prize wall, her heart sunk as she saw the pair of fake devil horns, her past voidsent encounter flashing to the front of her memory and causing her to quiver. Determination flared as she exchanged her hard-earned points for the horns, reasoning that if she looked like what she feared, she'd be able to stand against them should their paths cross again. That opportunity presented itself when C'iri tracked her down to her company, asking her to assist with a target that had brought her to Eorzea. Before leaving for combat, she placed the horns on her head along with her battlegear, and set out with L'iru Wulf, Mathilda Luciana, and C'iri defeat the foe.

After the battle was won, Drekki felt a rush of adrenaline like no other, as she had finally faced a foe that had robbed her of her confidence for so long. Striking a deal with her friends, she formed Drekki's Inquisitors, a group that "Looks More Fiendish than the Foes they Face", often sporting demonic-looking armor and gear into battle against their foes, be it voidsent, bandits, or beasts of the land. Accepting of her student's growth, C'iri bequeathed Drekki a greatsword of her own, though she often finds it hard to wield, preferring to use her hands against non-fiend foes. Eventually, Drekki left the Dawn Riders, unsatisfied with the new leadership. She wandered for a time, bouncing from company to company in a nomadic lifestyle, seeking a new home for herself while she awaits The Inquisitor's next mission.

While drinking heavily in the Quicksand, she spotted a flyer for Greylance Warhost, a group dedicated to retaking the ancestral Ala Mhigan home of Shayla Greylance. Sensing a chance to secure a permanent meeting hall for her inquisitors, she signed on, eventually helping Lady Greylance defeat her family and take back her lands. Now she stays on as the self-proclaimed Demon Lord of the Radiant Star, taking it upon herself to recruit new members to the mercenary company to defend the recently reclaimed lands.

After realizing her army had fled, she packed her bags and headed for Ishgard to overcome her disdain for the place. While visiting, she came across a shiny red rock, which she discovered to be a soulstone. Soon after, she made friends with a Xaela claiming to be a Dark Knight, who she instantly bonded with due to their shared trait of having only one limbal ring. Relics of the Drakkenheart

♦ Demon Horns - "Won on her first venture to the Gold Saucer, she wears these horns in combat to hide her fear of the voidsent she fights."

♦ 'unk o' metal - "Greatsword given to her by C'iri, retrieved from some forgotten ruins in Tailfeather. Unable to use it effectively due to her small size. Only uses it to fight non-humanoid fiends."

♦ Pointy Stikk - "A spear given to her by C'iri for training in her youth. Looks Ishgardian in nature, Ciri never spoke of where it came from. Recently, Drekki learned it was from one of the Ishgardians that killed her scouting party, and has since abandoned using it."

♦ Armor Polish - "90% Alc. by volume, hangs from a flask at her hip. Drinks it mainly, but sometimes cleans her armor with it."

♦ Mathy's Dagger - "A rogue blade given to her my Mathilda, with the name "Undy" carved into the blade, her nickname during her time at the Dawn Riders."

♦ Tandris' Gift - "A bow and flute set sent to her by Emmara, her lover. She claims in missions that she's unskilled with the bow, but she secretly practices with it every chance she gets."

♦ Reapy - "A large scythe she had made for her so that she could have a giant weapon she could actually wield properly."

Friends & Allies

C'iri Rivia - Her mentor who rescued her from voidsent in Tailfeather. Taught Drekki the ways of void-hunting and has remained in close contact ever since.

L'iru Wulf - The general of her Inquisitors and long-time friend from her time in the Dawn Riders. A highlander girl with a fiery temper and aetheric tattoos.

Qatun Borlaaq - One of Drekki's few Au Ra friends. Former ally from her time in the Dawn Riders.

Mathilda Luciana - Introduced her to Eorzea when she first arrived. Took her in as an adoptive sister until arguments over Mathilda's increasing corruption drove them apart. Mathilda later challenged her to a fight, losing solidly before giving Drekki one of her daggers and disappearing.

Emmara Tandris - Mysterious hyur bard that Drekki mentions from time to time. Highly rumored to be Drekki's romantic involvement, but no one has ever seen her.

Foes & Rivals

The Cult of Atarka - A band of cultists that seem to have it out for Drekki. They follow her around constantly, making their home in the various ruins of the Western Highlands. Mortal enemy of her Inquisitor's, who spend a lot of time stamping them out when they rise up.
