Gehr’ir Ett (pronounced / gah REER ett/) (21st Sun 2nd Umbral Moon (Apr 21)) , a Keeper miqo’te hailing from the Deep Shroud. He lives a solitary and nomadic life with a tendency to come and go as he pleases. His time is most often spent between the Southern Shroud and the forests' most reclusive Keeper families.

In generations' past, Gehr'ir's clan once belonged to the wilderness of Gyr Abania. In spirit, they still do. The Taligriff are named after the formidable winged beasts which make the impassable northern mountains their home. They cared for and hunted the wild lands whilst paying homage to their beloved Goddess. The regaled but scarcely seen Griffin serves as a pillar of inspiration: to always seek new heights, to be vigilant, and to live without fear.

When the empire overtook Ala Mhigo, the clan reluctantly decided to migrate westward, as the refugees did. Neither wanted to risk Garlean assimilation. In the seasons following, the Taligriff found new hunting grounds within the untamed corners of the Twelveswood. They continue to migrate these isolated woodlands to this day, living in peace with the give-and-take nature of the forest.

Name Etymology

Gehr'ir's mother was given a name held by many of her forebears. Gehr- a variation of Gyr in Gyr Abania- and Ett, a verb in the old Keeper tongue meaning "to lift, or to raise".

AUTHOR’S NOTE

This character may not get along well with [Wildwood] Elezen and Adder/Wood Wailer types. I am looking to establish Friendships, Rivalries, Mentor (Thaumaturgy), Family, Lovers & Acquaintances. See link below!

Appearance

Stands at five fulms, seven ilms and weighs around one-hundred-sixty-something ponzes. He has dark hair and fur which is often decorated with a powder-based paint. His blue-grey skin is pulled taut across lean muscle padding his form. There's a crease in his brow that never seems to fade, and to some it can be difficult to discern when he's actually trying to be friendly with you. There is one thing to note, at least. His tail and ears are verily expressive. Those capable of reading miqo'te body language will be able to more easily uncover what exactly is going through his head.
The most notable of his features, sans his striking moonlit eyes, are the patterns decorating his face. He is loathe to be seen unpainted.
Gehr’ir does not own the most fanciful of clothing (in fact he only owns two coats), but they are maintained well enough.

Biography

1552-1568

Childhood
The Twelveswood has been home to Gehr'ir since the dusk of his time, where he was born to a wandering family deep within the forest. This reclusive tribe had no need for the sixth baby boy born to them, and so he was offered to a sister tribe to resolve an old conflict. Unlike his natal tribe, Gehr’ir’s adoptive family had more exposure to merchant trade and other travelers. He took interest in strangers passing through their hunting grounds and made habit of being nuisance to them.
Young Adult
During the first umbral moon after his or her fifteenth nameday, boys and girls of the family underwent a coming of age rite. Under Menphina's watchful gaze, the child solidifies their commitment to the Goddess and their family. At last they are permitted to wear the pastel paints traditionally used by their people and became contributing members of the Keeper clan.
The family’s talent in archery saw to his expert use with a shortbow, accompanied by countless trials in surveying and trapping. Though his family tried to mask it when necessary, they held a strong prejudice towards the Gridanians due to the nature of the conflict between them and the Keeper Clans over the years. This prejudice has passed into Gehr’ir’s adulthood.

1569 - 1578

When Bahamut's giga flare rained down on Eorzea, Gehr'ir's tribe found themselves on the downside of a bad coin flip. Though there were plenty of survivors, its leading women were not among them. The distraught few were unsure how to proceed without their matriarch. In time, many sought out other Keeper villages. Others chose to assimilate with the Gridanians, much to Gehr’ir’s dismay.
Unwilling to leave the depths of the forest, Gehr’ir traveled with a few others, deeper into the woodland in search of their sister tribe- his natal clan. He discovers them fairly whole, and they gladly welcome him back to their fold. He stayed with the Taligriff for many a moon, at last meeting his birth mother and siblings since he was a boy. He earned their confidence in time, as they hunted, sang, and grieved over their losses.
Feeling whole again, Gehr'ir's wandering nature once again begins to lead him afar...

Present

(... No storylines yet. He wanders around, mostly..)
