Theme

"Monster" - Starset

General

Hyutt Moonkiln, given name "Hyuponia", is a dishonorably discharged member of the Maelstrom, and orphaned former ward of the Garlean occupied Ala Mhigo. From an eary age, Hyutt had been exposed to the cruelty and indoctrination of the Empire. Despite this, he is a self stylized hopeful realist, with a generally relaxed (if seemingly cold) approach to both his casual dealings and problems. He is possessed of an almost singular desire to preserve nature and the life it nourishes, and is fiercely defensive of those he considers family. Hyutt can be seen as a fairly amiable individual if not a little awkward, though this all serves a facade to hide the festering wounds of an traumatically turbulent and angry youth.
When abroad, Hyutt will typically be found in the guise of an Arcanist, working on maintaining a burgeoning bestiary of Fiends and flora. When he is at home however, he will often be found performing his duties as a Hearer to those that require succor within the Twelveswood.

Appearance

Hyutt is a rather tall Midlander, owing in large part to his heritage. Standing at six foot two, with a swimmer's build of well toned muscle, this gives him an almost gangly and scrawny silhouette when clothed. His eyes are an intelligent and aggressive soul piercing red. While sharp and intimidating on their own, they are however dulled significantly by his rounded, nearly effeminate face and bone structure. If not for his height, he could almost be described as boyish. Hyutt's hair can be typically seen as a deep shade of Gysahl green, but this is not in fact natural: Hyutt's real hair color is a bright shock of blonde, which he carefully dyes and maintains this particular hue. If one were to see him stripped of clothing, they would find most of his body a tapestry of scars of various age and type, and traditional leather armor indicative of his home as subligar. While most of the scars would be Fiend made, there are some instances of weapon inflicted wounds. The most prominent of these old wounds is heavy burn scarring his inner forearms, hands, and general upper body.

Combat

General

Hyutt is an extraordinarily gifted Conjurer, though some luck and necessity drew this latent power of him. From an early age he had always been afflicted with an aetheric anemia that sapped his strength and threatened his health. When the whispers of Elementals came offering aid in return for his servitude at a young age, his answer had always been singular. Borrowing their strength, he can overcome the worst of his health symptoms in day to day life and feign relative normalcy. To say that Hyuponia fights with nature's fury as a result would be a gross misconception. Hyuponia is nature's fury. At the Elementals behest he can call upon powerful forms of magic in his service to the Twelveswood, though most of his martial strength lies in Arcanism and Thaumaturgy when otherwise abroad.

To supplant his poor inherent aetheric reserves and lessen his burden upon nature, Hyutt carries a number of aspected crystals and alchemical tinctures on his person at all times when traveling outside of the Twelveswood. He primarily uses these to power both his grimoire's arcane geometries and Thaumaturgy. As a result of this unorthodox style of magical experimentation, it is actually fairly easy to defeat the young man should he be caught unawares. --It would be as simple as relieving him of arms and equipment.

While fairly athletic for a Midlander, Hyutt's illness makes it rather difficult for him to engage in prolonged strenuous physical activity as well. As a result of this he tends to try and avoid conflict whenever possible, and end it as viciously and pragmatically as he can when it is unavoidable otherwise. This level headed approach to combat does not stop him from flying into passionate rages however, and the young man can be easily lead to exhausting himself when pushed to his emotional limit.

History/Timeline

Early Years

Hyuponia, birth given name Hyutt Moonkiln, was born in the year 1555 of the Sixth Astral Era to mother Anelane Cadence, and father Jarvis Moonkiln. Shortly after his arrival, Hyutt's parents died in the revolt against King Theodorac, leaving him and older brother Arcadius Moonkiln orphaned. Having no immediately known extended family, the two were taken into the care of the newly come Garlean Empire as wards of the state. Five years pass, and in this time Hyuponia is subjected to various cruelties in his upbringing surrounding the growing conflicts between his countrymen and their instilled ideals and the oppressive foreign interests of the Empire. Arcadius joins the growing Ala Mhigan resistance at eighteen years of age, and 'kidnaps' Hyutt in disguise, bringing him to Little Ala Mhigo during the first wave of the refugee movement. Feeling unable to fight with his presence and unwilling to raise his younger brother himself, Arcadius leaves Hyutt in the care of his fellow countrymen to rejoin the battle. Arcadius is never seen by his brother again. Completely isolated, and with no real identity of his own, Hyutt sheds his birth name for the more whimsical moniker he now bears.--A quiet and childlike homage to the parents he had never known.

Childhood/Teenage Years

As a result of his connection with various lesser sprites and a pressing need to treat his own aetheric anemia, Hyutt spent much of his time after being left behind in Little Ala Mhigo studying what he could from the traveling Alchemists who would attempt to frequent the area on missions of 'goodwill.' While Hyutt was taught not to trust the outsiders, and for good reason, his disease required special treatment that his countrymen alone could not provide. It was for this reason that Hyutt allowed a chance meeting with one such Alchemist in good standing with the Immortal Flames to blossom into a begruding respect and friendship. This man, an Elezen named Arreux Braucomault, would eventually offer to apprentice Hyutt in return for the right to study his pecculiar disease and the interest it garnered from the nature around him. He in time agreed to this arrangement, despite the protests of his fellows at Little Ala Mhigo. For him, the ability to rise above his illness and explore the greater world meant a chance at answers he held ever since his kidnapping from Ala Mhigo.

Arreux taught Hyutt over the course of his childhood to young adulthood what he currently knows of Thaumaturgy, Alchemy, and Arcanism. While Arreux would never formally treat Hyutt's aetheric anemia or make substantial headway on the disease, he would inspire a desire to protect the common good in the young Hyutt's heart and mind. Recognizing this desire to serve, Hyutt would eventually be given the opportunity to enlist with the Immortal Flames through Arreux's suggestion. Hyutt took to his service life and studies voraciously, as the taste of freedom would eventually fuel his desire to find his brother once more. Fate, unfortunately, would see fit to have other plans in mind for him. The Garlean Empire would once again attempt to make conquest upon the land of Eorzea, and Hyutt would be deployed to do battle with them throughout the skirmishes leading up to the battle of Carteneau. There, Hyutt fought alongside his friend and mentor Arreux, and watched the closest thing to a true father figure he had die in Bahamut's searing fire, with many more of his comrades in arms.

Hyutt would go on to repair Arreux's broken spectacles and wear them from then on, once he recovered from surviving the onset of Calamity.

Adulthood

The war would leave Hyutt a broken man, who wandered Eorzea out of grief and rage for the loss he experienced at Carteneau. He attempted to join the Maelstrom and learn more of Arcanism through one of Arreux's friends, but was deemed unfit to serve after several incidental skirmishes with bordering Garleans revealed the full extent of his mental illness. The only real anchor he would have during his recovery was the whispers in nature that would eventually lead him to the Twelveswood. It was here that he discovered his innate talent for Conjuration. Through the guidance of the Hearers, Hyutt would begin to slowly and steadily supress the rage boiling within him, in an ongoing attempt to come to terms with the great loss he experienced. As of recently, he has returned to the service life once again in support of the Moonlit Hunters, a Free Company dedicated to hunting troublesome Fiends and beastly marks that threaten the civilized roads. He is formally registered with the Twin Adder, as to be close to his own duties in the Twelveswood.

Rumors

Common Rumors

  • "Hyuponia? Yeah, there's a Hearer of that description who works a lot out of The Mists. Friendly guy. Doesn't charge you anything if you need healing; magical or otherwise."
  • "He's a "White Mage", or so they want to say. It's kind of funny watching him get around then since most of the healing he appears to do is on himself when he gets winded. What kinda Conjurer does that?"

Moderate Rumors

  • "He had a hard time learning the salute of the Twin Adders. Saw him get chewed out by a senior officer once because he went to do the -Maelstrom's- own gesture one too many times. The stones on the man if it were a joke honestly, he just kinda.. Stared at him. While getting a proper tongue lashing."
  • "He's always out by the lake at night in Old Gridania. Brings a book, waits for the fireflies to come out. Nice and timely, that one. When they start circling, he just closes the book and watches them fly. If you asked me? He's waiting aught for something or someone to arrive."

Rare Rumors

  • "Hyuponia? They say some call him the 'Demon of Nature'. That the boy's got the Greenwrath in him, especially for Garleans and folk what disturb the Twelveswood. Mention the Empire around him, you'll see the glint in his eye. The look of murderous intent.."
  • "Aye, I know 'im. Bastard was among our ranks during a skirmish with Castrum Occidens. Goddamn fool charged an entire company of Garleans after we gave him orders to fall back and tend to the wounded. I don't give a mummer's fart as to whether or not he thought it was worth it, either. He may as well have just killed our friends with his own two hands."
  • "He was there, at the Carteneau Flats. When Dalamud fell, and Akh Morns was unleashed.. I think his screams of dismay and anguish were among some of the loudest. Meteor stole something from everyone that day. But some men? They were transformed."
