Character

General

She was a participant in the battle of Cartenaeu Flats, during the calamity where Bahamut awoke and nearly destroyed Eorzea. She managed to lead her comrades out of the hellfire of the slaughter. She was promoted to Serpent Sergeant for her acts of leadership and camaraderie.

She returned five years after the calamity and served in the battle of the area surrounding the Praetorium, leading a small 20 man group of twenty warriors, a mix of adventurers conscripted into the Twin Adder as well as standard infantry and they opened a path through the Garleans forces, allowing the Crystal Bearers to make their way deep into the citadel, where they slew Gaius Van Baelsar and defeated the Ultima weapon. Inessa was promoted to the rank of Serpent Lieutenant, despite loosing her entire squad to the Garlean forces and nearly being wiped out herself. She was given this promotion due to the fact that hundreds of dead Garleans were found skewered and piled around her, when the reinforcements found her exhausted with moderate wounds.

She currently wanders Eorzea, helping those in need while the Twin Adder have no need for her.

Appearance

She is slightly taller than the average Miqo'te and is fair skinned, despite many harsh battles she has been in. She owes this to her armor that she wears all the time as it has saved her from many a fatal blow on more than one occasion.

She has bob-cut hair, dyed red but its original color is black.

Her eyes are deep crimson red.

She is fairly well built despite her small and skinny stature. Her small stature thats slightly above the average Miqo'te makes it easy for others to underestimate her, but that ends after they are skewered or cleaved in half with her glaive.

Personality

Inessa is often extremely polite and formal to everyone regardless of social standing, public opinion, cultural difference's or rank and often uses honorifics and titles such as "sir" and "m'lord" or "lord" when speaking to others. This may come off as her being of a servile nature but it isn't. Inessa only shows the utmost respect for everyone.

Inessa has a very strong sense of duty and values honor greatly. She also values the lives of others and will jump headfirst into an enemy, with no regard for her own mortality, neither fearing severe mortal injury and even death itself. This attitude and approach to defending others has won her many ally's amoung the common folk.

In general, Inessa cares little for herself and wouldn't mind becoming a Martyr or sacrificial pawn if it meant saving the lives of thousands if not hundreds of thousands in the heat of battle. (this is subject to change though as she develops as a character.)

Often though, she has a strong belief in the protection of those who simply wish to live in peace and harmony with the others as well as delivering justice to those who would hurt or wrong others, Sometimes to an extreme as she has been known to get carried away when dealing with outlaws and criminal's who resist her. She is most widely known for this due to an incident at Limsa Lominsa where she impaled a notorious pirate captain and his crew, then hanged them on the masts of the ship by their own entrails, thus she had earned the tittle of Inessa, the Impaler, for her brutality towards those who would threaten the lives of the innocent and those who seek to live in peace.

This said, she can be distanced at times. This is most likely a defensive mechanism to keep others safe from her enemys, and it is but she can also be slightly paranoid as not only has she made an enemy of every criminal in Limsa Lominsa as well as La Noscea but every merchant or lord merchant in Ul'Dhal and the Thanalan as well. Even though most know of the incident in Limsa Lominsa involving her, not many know why the Merchants of Ul'dalh hate her. It is because even though she has been offered much money and powerful positions by merchants, she refused them all and even spit their offer back in their face as she did not desire to become the pawn of a merchant, this in turn has lead to great friction between them, both in dealings and ideology and as a result, both sides have constantly conflicted with each other, with Inessa hampering their ability to extort more cash out of others. This has as a result forced merchants to send assassins after her. They were all killed though and their heads sent back, with all their hair shaved off and the phrase "Merchant Scum" carved into their bald heads.

She is also seen wearing armor all the time. It was her mentor, Phalanx, that taught her death could strike you from any corner at any time, thus does she rarely ever take off her armor as she feels secure and safe under a layer of steel platting.

Aside from her prim and proper demeanor as well as her intimidating stature, she has a soft spot for animals, especially Chocobo's. She keeps her personal war Chocobo very clean and healthy and rarely ever allows him into great danger.

Combat

General

Inessa up till the age of 16 was self-taught as well as instructed by members of the Lancers guild until the Elezen X-Dragon Knight of Ishgard who went by the name of Phalanx, took her as an apprentice. She was taught everything he knew and had developed during his time both as a wandering sellsword and serving as a Dragon Knight of Coerthas. She was taught and trained together with Phalanx for two year's until the battle of the Carteneau flats.

Inessa was separated from her master during the awakening of Bahamut, and never managed to find or meet up with him after the battle was long concluded, thus Inessa's training was incomplete. While many believed her master was dead, she refused to believe such a thing and went out in search of him.

Being a survivor of Carteneau, Inessa developed an aptitude for leadership under high stress combat situations, which allowed many of the men and women under her command to make it out of the battle relatively unscathed despite all the chaos of Bahamut's awakening.

During the five year period after Carteneau and she went searching for Phalanx, she developed many survival skills since she is out in the field so often, one of the most notable of which, is hunting and cooking her own food. She also mends her own armor but knows of little else aside from having learned to have track, both people and animals out in the wilderness.

Friends & Acquaintances

Phalanx (NPC) "Deceased (or is he?)" - Inessa's Lance instructor and master to the art of the spear. He has been like a father to her since as long as she can remember. They did everything together, from eating to hunting and training. He even departed much of his Dragon Knight techniques and personal skills he learned while he roamed Eorzea as a sell sword. His disappearance after the battle of Carteneau had driven her into searching for him out of grief for five entire years but she eventually came to terms that he perished that day and dedicated herself to the fulfillment of the ideology they shared together, which is the protection of the weak and delivering death to those who would prey on them.
Nastasha Hara (NPC) - Mother to Inessa Hara, she raised Inessa as a single parent while in the service of one of the Noble Elezen Lady's of Gridania. They got along quite well as one would expect of a parent and child but they started to drift apart when Inessa became interested in the art of battle rather than finding a husband or becoming a lady in waiting to one of the Noble Elezen Lady's of Gridania. Despite this though, they both share a deep bond of love for each other as parent and child and Nastasha is proud of Inessa regardless what path she takes in life.
Lady Andrelle (NPC) - A close and probably Inessa's only friend. They are extremely close and driving a wedge between them is impossible. Even though they may not see each other that much since the events after the calamity, they still maintain tight relations with each other and Inessa always turns to her Whenever she is in need of a friend for something.
Rinette Molkoh (PC: Has a RPC wiki.) - A random adventurer Inessa met in a tavern and shared a drink with. They spoke for a time and Inessa does not have any opinion's about her yet due to the fact she knows little about her.

Enemies & Rivals

Rumours

Easily Overheard Rumours
"Referring to that one Miqo'te wanderer with red eye's are you? Yeah, she move's around alot. She is never in one place for too long but when she stay's, it usually mean's something big is most likely afoot. That and the merchant's are always complaining about how she is "bad for buisness" or some nonsense and always filing complaints against her for interfering with the flow of buisness or commerce. A load of Ald'goat shit if you ask me. She solves problems if anything, but I suppose solving problem's is just bad buisness for the merchants of the city." -Any guard NPC in the Thanalan or Ul'dhal.
"Ah bloody hell, yer referin' ta that Miqo'te lass aint' ye? The one that passed by through ere'? Right terrifying lass she was when havin' to deal'in with criminal scum and whatnot. Last crew that crossed the lass ended up gettin' disemboweled and hanged with ere' own entrails by the mast's of their ship just cause they went an' abducted a few women and pillaged several civilian ship's. Right bloody scene it was." -Any pirate or yellow jacket in or near Limsa Lominsa.
"I heard that all the merchants and merchant lord's in Ul'dhal and the Thanalan despise her completely. Some have supposedly even sent assassins after her, and that the very next day after they are sent, the merchants who sent them have the assassins severed heads returned to them..." -Random banter shared by the local populace of Ul'dhal.
Somewhat Difficult To Overhear Rumours
"Oh yeah, Lady Inessa. I saw the her come through here several time's. Even trained with the trainee's because she had time to kill. Her skill's are truly incredible, and I was half surprised to see her using techniques exclusive to the Dragon Knights of Ishgard far up north. What the higher ups would do just to have twenty more like her..." -Random Wood Wailer Drill Sergeant.
"Don't let her tiny height fool you, she is a terribly powerful fighter. During the battle of Castrum Meridianum, I heard that she led the initial charge in the vanguard, and that the Garlean's took one look at her on top of her Chocobo charging at them with her glaive in hand, and ran away with their tail's betwixt their leg's! Hahahaha... I jest though, but I heard that even though she was leading the Vanguard, her entire group exempting herself got wiped out, but the Garlean's payed twenty fold for every member of her group that fell." - Random Veteran Flame Soldier.
Rarely Overheard Rumours
"Now this is just a rumor that I heard from a friend, who he heard from a Gladiator in Ul'dhal, who heard from his Marauder fellow, who heard from his mum, who overheard from a group of shady folks that Inessa's Hara's mum is a Pirate Queen who abandoned privateering to raise her daughter and that Inessa's a pirate princess. I dont believe this nonsensical dribble mind you but it does make you wonder where her mom come's from. After all, her accent hint's to that being native of Limsa Lominsa and Inessa has an awful violent streak when it comes to dealing with brigands and whatnot..." -Random Twin Adder officer off duty.
Player Character Rumours

History/Timeline

1556: Inessa Hara was born in Gridania. Her mother, Nastasha Hara, Takes leave from her duty's as a hand maiden to an Elezen Noble woman to take care of her child.

1566: Inessa Hara, now nearly an adult in terms of the age when she can be wed off, take's an interest in the art of warfare. Much to her mother's dismay, she allows her to pursue her interests and Inessa begins her apprenticeship in the Lancer's guild.

1568: Inessa Hara is expelled from the Lancer's guild for injuring an instructor who she had challenged to a duel and won. She continues to train on her own. Inessa grows more distant from her mother.

1569: Nastasha Hara convinces Inessa Hara to at least attend to an Elezen Lady in waiting in an attempt to break Inessa of her unhealthy training habit of staying outside for day's on end, continuously practicing her skill with the Lance. This planned backfired though as the lady that Inessa was attending too had a love for watching others train and practice their martial prowess. Inessa later that year becomes Lady Andrelle's closest and most trusted lady in waiting.

1570-1572: Lady Andrelle introduce's Inessa to an X-Dragon Knight of Ishgard by the name of Phalanx, who was a potential suitor to Lady Andrelle. She agreed to court him on one condition and that was that he impart all of his skills and knowledge of the lance and Ishgardian Dragon Knight techniques to Inessa. He did not refuese, as he was interested in taking a pupil and saw extreme talent in Inessa Hara.

Over the course of two years, Phalanx and Inessa became very close and despite the eventual breakup of Phalanx and Lady Andrelle, he stayed and continued to teach Inessa. He became a father figure to her and added much structure to her life mentally and socially. While Natasha Hara approves of these two being together, she cannot help but worry for her daughter at the looming Garlean's threatened to throw Eorzea into a war and she couldn't bare the thought of Inessa going off and never returning. Phalanx reassures Nathasha and swears on his life that he will be with Inessa the entire time and recklessly defend her at the cost of his life, as he was a master who had not finished teaching his pupil.

Inessa and Phalanx join the Twin Adder as conscripts later that year to fight the Garlean menace.

The battle of Carteneau Flats occurred and the lesser moon Dalmund fell. The Elder Primal Bahamut is released and nearly lays waste to all of Eorzea. Inessa shows her aptitude for leadership under this high stress situation here and lead's most of her comrade's out of the hellfire's spawned by Bahamut. Phalanx is nowhere to be seen weeks after the battle and it is assumed he died and his body burned to ash and irretrievable.

1572-1577: Inessa Hara sinks into a deep depression with the loss of her master and goes on a five year long journey in search of him because she cannot cope with loosing her instructor. She trains and hones her art with the lance much during this time to an unbelievable level.

1577: Inessa Hara accepts the death of her instructor Phalanx and returns to active duty for the Twin Adder. She later participates in the Battle of Castrum Meridianum. She cuts a bloody swath through over several hundred Garleans, despite loosing her squad to the subsequent fighting, and is promoted for her strength in battle.

(Seventh Astral Era)1: Inessa Hara is promoted to Serpent Lieutenant. Inessa swears to serve and protect all of Eorzea, even if the path she has chosen leads to her death. Inessa transfers over from the main Twin Adder army to the reserve divisions and is currently wandering Eorzea, aiding those in need while the Twin Adder do not have any need of her.
