==History==
Invia comes from Valnain, a port city on the tropical southern shores of Dalmasca. Her parents, fully integrated into Dalmascan culture, eschewed the usual tribal Miqo'te lifestyle in favor of just being a couple. When Dalmasca was conquered before Invia was born, her father Evien was an up-and-coming genius in the field of aetherochemistry and so was promptly taken in to the Garlean army's science division, and moreover he was eager to do so as Garlemald's resources provided excellent funding and resources for his research. He climbed the ranks quickly for a non-Garlean,

Her mother Celhi died when she was young, while her father [[Evien mal Sheol|Evien]] was a renowned genius in the field of aetherology, especially the study of souls. Originally X'Evien Tia and hailing from Sharlayan, when he was younger had attended the Studium and graduated as an Archon. When he met Celhi Sheol, he moved with her the the Shroud and changed his name, loving her enough to embrace the Keeper of the Moon culture. Invia was born shortly after in the South Shroud.

Her mother Celhi died when she was young. Growing up hearing the tales of the Zodiac Braves, especially Saint Ajora and King Delita, Invia admired the heroes they were. As the daughter of the eventual [[Evien mal Bellveil]] Invia lived a comfortable life in imperial-occupied Valnain despite not being a Garlean. Still, her upbringing did not turn her into some Garlean sympathizer; as she grew up hearing the stories of the Zodiac Braves and befriended those less fortunate on the streets, she too sought to see Dalmasca freed. This fascination with the Zodiac Braves, combined with a lifetime under Garlemald, eventually had Invia decide to set off and become a hero herself. Of course this put her at odds with her father, who was quite happy in his position.

Ever since she was a small child Invia being told them by her ill mother, Invia has been captivated by tales of heroes and knights in shining armor. When given the chance the two of them always went to see plays at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre in Gridania, such as her favorite story ''I Want to Be Your Canary''. She and her friends spent time playing make-believe heroes in the dark woods of the Black Shroud, swimming in the cool rivers and lakes, or exploring the ruins of Amdapor or tunnels of Gelmorra scattered across the woods. It was during these visits to the latter that Invia came to learn something about her nature.

Invia also had another aspect which convinced her to become a hero: for as long as she could remember Invia had an affinity to a certain branch of magicks, ever since an incident when she was very young where she had nearly died. To anyone who knew more of magick than the young Invia did, they would have recognized her talent as thaumaturgy, especially the sort which wielded the dark powers of the Void and departed souls of the dead. This affinity was due to her soul very nearly passing into the lifestream as a young child before being saved by her father's aetherial expertise. But Invia herself did not know that her spells were of the dark and dangerous sort, and simply chose to travel to Eorzea due to its history of heavy use of magick, hoping that there she would refine her control and power of aether to become a hero like the Zodiac Braves of eld. Her father remained in the imperial forces back in Dalmasca, estranged from his daughter for her choice as he was quite happy with his station in life.

For as long as she can remember, Invia has had an affinity to a certain branch of magicks: the manipulation of the souls of the dead. Since she was young she had had an affinity for ashkin and, to an extent, been able to use their powers for herself. This power of the souls of the deceased also tended to attract voidsent to her, and there were plenty of those wandering the Shroud left over from the War of the Magi. During her childhood excursions into Gelmorran and Amdapori ruins, she had more than one chilling encounter with a ghost or imp of some sort.

===A Realm Reborn===

Invia's mother Celhi died when she was young, and afterward her father threw himself into his work. It wasn't long before his aetherology research on the soul seemed to have become all he cared about. Eventually it came to a head five years ago, when lamenting the lack of research resources that Gridania could provide to him and Sharlayan's refusal to let him back in after leaving them, Evien turned to a third option: the Garlean Empire. This caused a terrible argument and falling-out between father and daughter, but all Evien seemed to care for was the opportunity to further his research. In the dead of night he crossed Baelsar's Wall to betray Eorzea for the Empire, and from his already existing reputation and skill, he quickly saw himself rise through the ranks to mal.
Invia set herself up in Limsa Lominsa. She found a job making deliveries, and began research into the War of the Magi, eikons, and the history of magick.

Eventually she found her way to Ul'dah, where a chance encounter with members of the Order of Nald'thal introduced her to her first magick teacher, and she began to aid him in quelling departed spirits. One particular expedition in the catacombs of Sil'dih beneath the city exposed Invia to undead for the first time, where she learned two things: first, that she had a fear of ghosts; and second, that the magick they wielded was similar to her own. For the first time she realized that maybe there was a more sinister origin to her abilities than she thought, and in addition to refining her powers she also began to train with a spear as well so those dark magicks wouldn't have to be the only thing she could rely on.
+
Her father leaving was the prompt Invia herself needed to finally go off and learn more about her own powers, as well as become a hero like the ones in the stories from her childhood. Invia initially tried to go to Sharlayan for knowledge, but her father's choice to join Garlemald prompted the Forum to bar all access to his family. Instead she chose to settle herself in Limsa Lominsa for access to the many tomes within the Arcanists' Guild.

Invia participated in the Dalmascan resistance's battle to retake Nalbina Fortress while the Garleans were occupied in the Bozjan Southern Front. Following that she moved to aid the Bozjans for the battle in Zadnor. Aboard the massive airship the ''Dalriada'', as a force led by the Bozjan and Dalmascan resistance leaders fought the IVth Legion's officers, Invia had an emotional confrontation of her own with Evien. When the Diablo Armament went on a rampage and destroyed the ship, despite everything that had happened, Invia shielded her father from the explosions and raining debris. Though on the verge of death, Invia knew she had saved someone she loved...only for him to do shortly the same. Taking auracite that the IVth Legion had gathered and stored on the ship for research, Evien used the miracle-granting stone to give his life for his daughter's. Invia was brought back from the other side at the cost of her father's life, and as his last act of love toward his daughter, saved from the destruction of the ''Dalriada'' and spirited back to the Bozjan basecamp.

During the Eorzean Alliance's siege of Ala Mhigo, Invia temporarily split off from the rest of the group to locate her father in his laboratory. During their emotional confrontation the battling throughout the city caused ceruleum tanks to detonate and bring down the laboratory, and despite everything that had happened, Invia shielded her father from the explosions and raining debris. Though on the verge of death, Invia knew she had saved someone she loved...only for him to do shortly the same. Using the fruits of his research into the soul, Evien used forbidden magicks to give his life for his daughter's. Invia was brought back from the other side at the cost of her father's life, and as his last act of love toward his daughter, saved from the destruction and spirited her to safety. The catalyst at the source of this spell was a white crystal pendant, which Invia now keeps on her at all times as a memento.

Some weeks afterward, the Dalmascan resistance announced that Legatus Noah van Gabranth was reportedly dead, and that after thirty long years of oppression, Dalmasca was finally free of imperial control. Now wearing the auracite around her neck as a memento of her father's sacrifice, Invia aided in the reconstruction efforts from the new capital, her hometown Valnain. The first thing she did was find her old home in the city, and it was there that she discovered notes her father had left behind on the heretical Sect of Germonique, a cult worshiping Ultima who had been exiled from Dalmasca years ago. She learned that her father had worked with them during his time in the IVth Legion to help uncover the secrets of auracite, and it was through that method that he had been able to save her life when she was a child, just as auracite had again saved her in Zadnor.
+
Her recent near-death experience turned streaks of her hair white and increased her sensitivity to the souls of the dead.

Invia decided to return to Eorzea where she hoped the centuries of magickal research there could help her learn more about the Sect of Germonique, not wishing for anyone to use her father's research on auracite for ill.

Invia carries an ancient arcane tome on her person, decorated on the cover with the symbols of the Ivalician zodiac in pale gold. As of the final stand of the IVth Imperial Legion aboard the ''Dalriada'', Invia wears an auracite pendant around her neck carved into a teardrop shape, the same piece of auracite that her father used to save her life. Her close encounter with death also altered her appearance somewhat, turning streaks of her hair white. She has gained a sensitivity to ghosts and spirits, and sometimes feels like she can see souls flowing through the normally-invisible lifestream.

Invia's shelves are filled with books of magick, history, and works of fiction, especially the stories of the Zodiac Braves. Of particular personal importance to Invia is the tale of King Delita, whom she sees as her hero. Over the course of her time in Eorzea she has also come to find a fascination with the Fifth Astral Era. When she has free time and the weather permits it, she is often found playing some sort of sport outdoors, or perhaps drawing, which is another hobby of hers.

Though many of the holy sites of Dalmasca's religion, the Light of Kiltia, were destroyed by Garlemald, it survives in its people. Invia has been a faithful of Faram the Father her whole life, and the need to keep it secret from the Garleans has perhaps made her even more devout.

Seeing as she spent her entire life under Garlean rule she uses Garlean terms for some Eorzean concepts, such as "eikon" instead of "primal". And as a Dalmascan, she refers to aether as "Mist".

Ironically given more recent developments in her life, she has a fear of ghosts.

Invia Sheol , or Invi for short, is a Miqo'te from the Black Shroud.

History

Her mother Celhi died when she was young, while her father Evien was a renowned genius in the field of aetherology, especially the study of souls. Originally X'Evien Tia and hailing from Sharlayan, when he was younger had attended the Studium and graduated as an Archon. When given the chance the two of them always went to see plays at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre in Gridania, such as her favorite story I Want to Be Your Canary.
