what was I then if not my name? a child of redacted blood. and sure, i belong to history. i belong to my mother's fear.

A wraith of a man who tends to reside along the swamps of South Shroud and bears the bright red tattoos native to the customs of the Yhundo shamanism despite his denial of his blood, though carries a grand affinity for the Shroud as a general and the trees overhead. He is rarely seen outside of the dark forest anymore for reasons unspecified, though will occasionally travel out to the major cities to look for work if need be.

Perhaps the most starking detail about him, however, seems to be the way his eyes either bear translucent pupils or not at all, and yet, he does not seem to be blind in the slightest.

Tends to dress in loose fitting clothing that will allow him ease of movement. values lightweight cloths and wrappings, and seems to lack the ability to properly dress himself in shirts. Oftentimes, his garments will also be adorned in jewels and trinkets, alongside the occasional speck of dirt and leaf that inevitably finds itself somewhere on his person.

While not overly deep, it has a certain level of gravel to it that rasps against his throat. Rolls his r's.

Has the tendency to bite his nails.

It's hard to pinpoint the true personality of a man such as Izar'a due to how multi-faceted he tends to be; outwardly, he presents himself as snarky, impulsive, and bored too easily. He can and will curse up a storm, and has absolutely no tact. There is a reason he is known as a cheeky bastard, and it’s that the damned man always has something to say; he is fond of having the upper hand, and never lets anyone have the last word. He is arrogant, he is violent, he is vile, he is mendacious.


This seems to be, however, his only means of armor; underneath the surface, and to only but less than a handful of people left to experience, there is a man shrouded in paranoia and the burdens of his ancestor's bloodshed. There is a melancholy that lingers about the edges of his wolf-grins that suggests, perhaps, that the Narcissus persona he dresses himself in is only just that: a mask.

« history. »

Born a mongrel and bastard child of an exiled man from the M tribe and a shaman woman of the Yhundo, a family who fled the Dimwold when the conquest of Ala Mhigo first began over two decades ago, and the eldest of all his siblings. Izar'a, born Izar, was brought into Eorzea with little to no reputation, and most importantly, little means of obtaining money.


This, along with the discrimination faced in the Shroud, leads the family to resort to obtaining resources for themselves the only way they know how to: poaching. Despite his fondness for the art of archery, he is insisted by his mother to continue his learning of her means of shamanism and tapping into his clairvoyance. Before he can complete anything, however, his family falls ill; five of his other sisters perish under the hands of a sickness in the lungs, as well as his father, and his mother soon after disappears without a trace of her to be found, leaving a 16 year old Izar orphaned and at the hands of poachers.


Having come from a disadvantaged background, Izar'a learns to watch, to manipulate, and to lie, and to an ironic extent fulfills the stereotype that the gridanians lay on the keepers; a liar, a thief, who cares not for honor but will do whatever he needs to survive.
