General Information
Yanxian-born to a governing family, she fled her homeland during the invasion, learning to earn a scratching by working for merchants and politicians with guidance from her Kojin mentor, Toro. After the Calamity, she left Othard to found a trading front in Aldenard, the Onyx Pyrolisk Trader's Union, which brought together Lominsan free-traders and construction workers under one banner. Eventually, the company struck a deal with House Dzemael of Ishgard, making Blossom one of the more successful and wealthy people within the city-state. However she is incredibly restless and seeks to leave something grand behind aside from a mere fortune, and elected to set up MIND, the Multinational Institute of Novel Delectables: a foundation dedicated entirely to collecting, protecting, researching, and displaying the rarest of rare items for people all over the world to wonder upon. At the present time, Joyous seems to do little more than boss people around.

Hair & Eyes
Joyous has blue-green eyes, from her mother Iruki. Many have described them as being able to see through a man into his soul, so many wishing for her patronage tend to avoid her direct gaze. They seem to carry a knowing twinkle in them whenever she speaks to someone...

While Blossom has the same hair color as her father Yoto Sakura, a healthy black hue, Joyous has had it cut quite short—another measured testament of her distancing herself from her Yanxian past, as the fashion among their people is typically to keep it at length. She tends to keep a half dozen pins tucked into her hair to keep it steady and out of her view.

Physique & Markings
A woman who prides herself on being as alluring and disorienting as humanly possible for the sake of an advantage, Joyous does everything she can to keep her hourglass figure and obsesses over how she appears to others. She is adamant about wearing just enough makeup to look beautiful, but only just so much as to make it appear natural.
The only marking of note is the lengthy tattoo of a Sanuwa, a creature often found in the Sea of Clouds, trailing from her ankle to what most would assume is her stomach along her right leg. It is entirely uncertain how or why she carries this art on her person.
Hygiene & Attire
If nothing else, Joyous is known for her...unique appearance in terms of clothing. Electing to wear only the most outlandish of outfits, gossip circles are often abuzz after she has made a public appearance. While she relishes in the attention, Joyous also balks at the idea of wearing 'common' clothing. Additionally, she only seems interested in wearing black, earning her the namesake of "Onyx Flower".
Joyous insists on being as clean as possible, unless her situation absolutely requires otherwise. Whenever she passes, a strong scent of fruits can be gleaned, wafting off of her in every direction.
"If we continue this conversation I am like to lapse into a coma. Go away or say something worthwhile."
Personality

To a person looking from the outside in, Joyous Blossom is a poised, imposing, elegant, intelligent, and alluring creature. Her presence is powerful; when she enters a room, one can most certainly notice it, and once she is there, it's difficult to cast your attention elsewhere. Rumors of her exploits might suddenly surface their way to one's thoughts—how she could talk a wild chocobo out of all of its feathers, or perhaps the missing merchant who once wronged her was never seen again, or her shady past as one of the Kracken's Arms. A fierce, powerful, cunning being with hidden, dangerous claws that could strike out at any sight of something not going the way she wants. Painfully blunt, impatient to a fault, and hells on earth should you earn her scorn, most walk on eggs around her to avoid her wrath.

These sorts of emotions are precisely what Joyous wants people to drown in when confronted with her. Wild tales of things she has (mostly) never done circulating fantastical rumors to give her a much larger-than-life appearance to her allies and enemies alike are what she aims for; the more extreme and unbelievable, the better. To further this, she is strangely absent from most social events, electing to keep to the confines of her estate, which are rather heavily guarded and kept quite secretive.
Joyous is dizzingly confident in herself—she's quite aware of her features, and what people think of her—she knows she is attractive, she knows she is intelligent, and she knows she is powerful in both wealth and combat alike. All of these points are tools for her to use to get what she desires, when she desires it, and most around her are keen on keeping her happy for fear of her temper. In much the same way that her mentor G'ratha Tia was, Joyous is a pragmatic woman—she is quite willing to do whatever she needs to in order to achieve her goals, regardless of what that something happens to be. In spite of that moral grayness, it does seem that she takes pains in order to minimize damage to commonfolk and innocent people when she can, and takes compassion in others who are in need of succor.
Eccentric is hardly the word to begin with Joyous, as her escapades are considered an oddity among the well-to-do, her fashion choices are mildly questionable at best, and her hobbies are outlandishly bizarre. The former Kracken's newest passion has become collecting the rarest and most valuable items in all of the world, going as far as to hire mercenaries, adventurers, hunters, and pirates to obtain trinkets for her growing assortment. She is not above and beyond putting them into harm's way, stating that sacrifices must be made in order to achieve great things, and has strangely mentally removed herself from the concept of danger entirely, often brushing it off as a minor inconvenience. However in spite of that, it is quite clear she cares for those who dedicate themselves to their work, in her own strange little way. Joyous does not tolerate the weak or lazy, and is quick to become icily cruel to get a point across—she is not entirely without pleasure in making the foolish look even moreso, and seems to delight in tormenting people who have wronged others in her eyes. She does, however, appear to become bored very easily if doing so does not give her satisfaction, and is quick to cut conversations with people she considers wasting her time short, no matter how rude she seems or who she is speaking to.

Osrich Arkwright:

A Gridanian-born Dragoon who saved Joyous's life from would-be kidnappers alongside his companions, Traique O'nera and Jacan Sunderfist. He is a man of few words, electing to speak only when he has something to say. Arkwright has spent many years studying and hunting down elite monsters, priding himself as one of the forefront members of Clan Centurnio. He is a warrior of exceptional skill, known more only for his candid nature and sharp intellect. Astonishingly, he seems to excel at everything he puts his mind to...

Family

Iruki Sakura: Joyous's Mother. Perhaps one of the best spearfishers along the Yanxian coast, Iruki adored the sea and all its wonders. Even in the most gloomy and troubling of storms, her love never wavered, and she oft sang prayer hyms to the Kami of the oceans. A kindly woman, though boastful and somewhat arrogant of her abilities, Iruki Sakura still lives in Isari to this day, though a far less joyful and lively creature than when she once was a mother and a fisher, rather than just the latter.

Yoto Sakura: Joyous's Father. A natural at handling vessels of the ocean, Yoto was thought to eventually become a member of the Confederates; his rebellious nature and adventurous spirit certainly seemed to point in that direction. However, Yoto was a poor fighter, and he knew it too well. What he 'did' wield, however, was a sharp wit and a silver tongue, both of which he played to his advantage peddling trade goods on the streets of Kugane. Selling baubles from his wife to artisans, and selling the works they produced to wealthy passers-by was his forté, a natural progression to the man. Extremely well-liked in the city and the fishing villa both for his caring disposition and honest nature, Yoto is thought to be dead after his capture by the Garleans some twenty-odd years past.

Sajin Sakura: Joyous's Older Brother. Serious and stern, Sajin was the silent muscle behind Yoto's operations. Sitting at least a head taller than his father (and many a deal more than anybody else,) and carrying a fierce-looking katana on his hip, where Yoto lacked in his combat skills, Sajin more than made up for in spades. A natural talent with the blade, many often remarked that Sajin would make for an excellent samurai...however, Sajin often commented that his only duty was to keep his father safe. He strongly believed one day his sword would be needed to defend people who would rely on his ability...the day never came. Though he struck down several Imperials during the invasion of Yanxia and her shores, Sajin was eventually taken by the Garlean Empire along with his father.

"Everything always moves forward. You'd be an idiot to think you can stop progress."
Early Age, Sixth Astral Era

The woman who would eventually be known as the Onyx Flower was originally born Tanoshi Hana, within the riverside village of Kusakari, to Yoto and Ikari Hana--the lord and lady of the riverside villa. Both staunch allies and members of the Yuzuka, a collection of nobles loyal to the Doman monarchy and governors to her provinces, the Hana clan was ultimately responsible for Kusakari and the Ryurin Bridge to the east. Raised in wealth and finery, and bred to eventually marry off to further influence the clan's power and wealth, very little was denied Tanoshi as a youth, leading to a somewhat entitled and spoiled attitude. Young Tanoshi knew of her power and wealth, as she was constantly reminded of it, and flaunted it however possible, more than aware she was on a higher plane of standing than most others her age. Because of these traits, she was ostracized from her peers, her tutors, and her servants, who often commented and complained she was narcissistic, overly-confident, and hostile when she was denied what she wished. However these things would be far from the least of the Hana Clan's worries; as war loomed from the southwest on an ill wind, the Yuzuka began to prepare for the worst. Doma was prepared to fight for her freedom...little was anybody aware of just what it would ultimately cost.
At the age of ten summers, the battle for Doma against the Empire had drawn nearly to its end. As the Imperials prepared to advance from the south upon the Manor and the bridges both, Yoto and Saijin, Tanoshi's older brother, left to what would be their final battle to defend the Yuzuka Manor and Doma castle both. Fearful of the destructive power the Garleans held, Yoto bade his wife take as much of their wealth as she could carry, and flee with their village to the eastern lands of Koshu until the conflict had ended. Dressed in simple robes, Iruki sewed gold bars and glittering gems into the seams, and paid the Ruby Tithe to see their people to safety across the vast ocean. Alas, even the fastest vessel that money could muster was not quick enough to outrun the Imperials, lead in full force by Yotsuyu, who were ultimately determined to see not a single soul leave Doma alive. As realization that this was truly the end of their lives as they knew it...unable to comprehend such an existence, and knowing full-well both her husband and firstborn were likely killed, tasked with the burden of keeping their people safe...all of it ultimately dropped upon Iruki like a sack of bricks, and she was unable to bear the weight. In a full panic, she hurled herself into the sea, as terrified and helpless members of Kusakari Village followed suit, causing a frenzy of hysterics aboard the ship. As people abandoned the vessel to try to swim for themselves, and others bickered amongst themselves, Tanoshi herself was knocked over the side, the weight of her clothes acting in the same manner as her mothers...dragging her down into the depths of the sea. Above the surface fared little better...mere minutes after the last of the Hana clan was tossed to the fates, the Garlean airship which had hovered mere yalms away opened fire upon the boat, sending it scattering into the four winds. Few to none survived the attack, to include Iruki herself, who had been too slow to remove her clothing in the watery stampede she had caused in her weakness. The Ruby Sea was apt to take up its namesake that tragic day.

Tanoshi, however, was fortunate enough to have the Kami's favor--for when she awoke, she had been taken to Tamamizu by one of the Kojin of the Blue, a treasure-seeking fellow by name of Toro. While the Kojin tended to the distraught child and concealed her from the Imperials who passed, it was hardly out of kindness alone; Toro had many other plans for the girl he had plucked from the bottom of the sea. When she had come around to accepting what had happened, Tanoshi explained her situation to the attentive Kojin, who listened to her tale and told her of what had become of Doma--the once-proud kingdom was now under strict and uncompromising Garlean rule. Now without family or purpose, the young Hana clanswoman was taken in by the watery creatures, who promised her protection and care in exchange for her help; with nothing else to do, Tanoshi accepted the terms.
The following day, Toro took the girl to the shores of Kugane, and explained why they were there. Because of their brother clan, the Kojin of the Red, the name of the Kojin had been associated with aiding the Empire and doing whatever it took to obtain coin. In doing so, the Kojin had ultimately been banned from doing business within Koshu in its entirety, and without trade, the Kojin of the Blue could not find or create more treasures. Tanoshi balked at the idea, commenting that she was only a child, and knew nothing of trade--a response which prompted Toro to reveal the tattered remains of her mother's togi, the wealth of her clan still intact amongst the weaving.
"This is part of your people's fortune, no? Money does many things, girl; it can turn a crooked branch straight, if one has enough. Sometimes, though, it is not suitable. You must also use your wisdom and your words."
Tanoshi, knowing all too well where the Kojin had retrieved that money from, demanded the robes returned, and was denied. However, Toro told her, should she successfully bargain the Kojin the possibility of trade within Kugane's walls, he would be all too happy to hand her the full price of her people's wealth and a treasure from his personal collection of her choice. Eager to see her money returned to her, (if perhaps only for selfish, childish reasoning,) Hana agreed to the terms, and so her journey towards becoming a master of the deal began.

For as cruel as one might have believed Toro for tricking and using a young girl for his own gain, the Kojin was incredibly clever and wise for it. From the waters, he would watch Tanoshi's attempts to make progress, and each day, teach her a new lesson in the art of making compromise. Though outright reluctant at first in doing so due to her spoiled nature as a younger child, eventually the young Roegadyn adopted each one of Toro's teachings into her strategy. At first, the merchants asked of her trivial things; fetching items, chasing away annoyances near stalls and stores, or sending information from one person to the next, all of which Tanoshi was subjected to do in order to gain their adoration. Many of them (wisely) did not trust an urchin girl who appeared and disappeared time and time again...however, as the moons and summers passed, Tanoshi's reputation as a trustworthy, reliable young woman began to circulate. By the time she had reached fifteen years of age, Tanoshi Hana was a respected member of Kugane's everyday hustle and bustle, and had more than won over the bulk of merchants whom she had so "generously" tended to. After years of petition and hard labor, at long last, Tanoshi was given permission to speak to the Magistrate of Kugane, where she made a case for the Kojiin of the Blue, elaborating on their desires, skills, and the opportunity of wealth and prosperity to both parties. Weeks later, the law outlawing all Kojin from Kugane's streets was altered to exclude only the Kojin of the Red, and permit the Blue to begin their trading. Unfortunately all the lawmaking in the world could not stop the stigma of being unable to tell (or perhaps sheer indifference) the two apart, and while the Kojin of the Blue were occasionally successful in bargains, few and far in-between were willing to do business. Tanoshi however, had ultimately kept her word, and so it was that Toro gifted her with the wealth that had taken her mother's life...the last token of her past she had left. Be it as it may, Tanoshi's years of working for others had switched her stance on what to do with the currency in a completely different direction; whereas at the ripe age of ten she was content to live out the rest of her life upon her fortune, as most in her position would, the last of the Hana clan had decided to use what she had to exact revenge upon those who had stripped her of her home, her status, her family, and her beloved village.

The Art of Arcana: Joyous spent almost 7 years studying Arcana under the Arcanist's Guild and is very familiar with the art and its members.
Kracken's Arms: A former of their numbers, Joyous knows many of their present and past members.
Lominsan Wealth: Few words hold more sway than that of one of the richest souls in Vylbrand.
Kugane Connections: Time spent in the city as a youth, coupled with her father's infamy, brings several lines of power and profit in Kugane.

IC Inventory
The following items are things that Joyous carries on her person at all times. These are noted for pickpockets, and those watching her closely. This information is meant to be a prompt for insight and is not to be meta-gamed, though feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in RP (pickpocketing, a search, etc) with use of a simple /tell.

Glio coinpurse.png

Coinpurse: It's a coinpurse. Has about 300 gil in it.

Smoking pipe...with nothing in it: Joyous does not smoke, but her habit of chewing on things while bored does follow her no matter where she goes. She keeps this pipe to sate her issue, and will become incredibly cross if she loses it, it becomes dirty, or is damaged in some way.
