Character Overview

A peachy complexion adorned with iridescent scales. Movement swift as wind, but fluid as water and dragonic reflective eyes like emerald mirrors. Kagamiko was a samurai from Yanxia on the continent of Orthard in the far east. Now a rōnin 浪人 (a samurai with no lord or master during the feudal period (1185–1868) of Japan. A samurai became masterless from the death or fall of his master, or after the loss of his master's favor or privilege)[1] due to the death of his master, he has only recently made the move to Eorzea from Orthard. He is quiet and soft hearted, though disciplined and passionate of Bushido in which he started his studies at an early age.

Appearence

Like most male auri, Kagamiko is tall in stature standing at heighthere. His scales are a light peach like color and are iridescent, they shine and change color slightly depending on angle. Hair dark like the night skies and behind his mask are dragonic emerald eyes clear and reflecting almost like a mirror. Attire wise he leans on more eastern wears and finds some Eorzean clothing strange. He is always seen wearing earrings tied to his horns, both of pristine cut crystals embedded with a different symbol in each. One would recognize the appearance that akin to a soul crystal.

Aspects That Stand Out:
As said above, Kagamiko’s scales aren’t the usual pale, but also iridescent.
Kagamiko’s eyes are almost always hidden due to his mask, though when seen one would notice it being more dragonic as well as reflective almost akin to a mirror.
Kagamiko’s soul crystal earrings have emblems not seen before upon them, one being his family emblem and the other like a decorated, yet simplified, mirror.

Personality

Kagamiko is kindhearted but disciplined. He was born into a loving family who followed Bushido code and was taught to respect himself above most. His family, lord, and himself lived rather peacefully though with the happenings in Doma he had fled with his master to Dalmasca for a time. It was not long until they were found and relieved of his duties at one final command was he told to flee to Eorzea and seek a new life.
According to the Bushido Shoshinshu (the Code of the Samurai), a samurai was supposed to commit seppuku (also "hara kiri" — ritual suicide) upon the loss of his master. One who chose not to honor the code was "on his own" and was meant to suffer great shame. The undesirability of rōnin status was mainly a discrimination imposed by other samurai and by daimyo, the feudal lords.[2] With the lose of his master Kagamiko now refers to himself as a beast, shamed at what had happened and for not honoring the code. Hiding behind his mask and with his flee to Eorzea he hopes none will recognize him or know the meaning of being a Ronin.
Overall Kagamiko is a quiet man, though he hates solitude, he is rather paranoid being in strange lands alone after what had happened. His heart is kind and his will is strong, even should he feel deterred he will rise up again due to his discipline and lift his own spirits. He is also rather puppy/child like!

Likes

Nature Kagamiko is rather down to earth, while he is no tree hugger, he enjoys natural beauty opposed to constructed metals.
Birds “There is nothing more soothing to wake to than the beauty of a bird’s song carried with the song of winds whistling through trees and drips of water from morning dew.” - Kagamiko
Eastern Cuisines Kagamiko prefers the simple foods of his homeland, he is a simple man!

Dislikes

Violence.
Solitude.
Garleans.

A Samurai & The Bushido Code

Samurai originally meant “one who serves,” and referred to men of noble birth assigned to guard members of the Imperial Court.[3] While Kagamiko was not born of a noble family per say, he was born of a Samurai family. What I mean by that is a family with history of being Samurai and serving under another higher class family. His combat as a Samurai is stance and elemental magics based with heavy influences taken from Final Fantasy XI and Tactics Series.

Bushido (武士道, "the way (or the moral) of the warrior") is a Japanese term for the samurai way of life, loosely analogous to the concept of chivalry in Europe.[4] From early age(5 cycles) Kagamiko has studied the ways of Bushido. Taught by both his father and uncle, he saw two sides of interpretation to the code. In the end ultimately following his father's ways, staying true to one's self over commands of one's lord.

Gi 義 Righteousness Be acutely honest throughout your dealings with all people. Believe in justice, not from other people, but from yourself. To the true warrior, all points of view are deeply considered regarding honestly, justice and integrity. Warriors make a full commitment to their decisions. Kagamiko is not one quick to judge a situation, while he follows the immediate laws of current area he will not act until knowing and at least attempting to understand each side's view and take on things. Only then will he decide which course of action to take based on his heart.
Rei 礼 Respect True warriors have no reason to be cruel. They do not need to prove their strength. Warriors are not only respected for their strength in battle, but also by their dealings with others. The true strength of a warrior becomes apparent during difficult times. Kagamiko was disciplined in Bushido code since he was only five cycles. He was born into a loving and loyal family(oppose to his uncle's) respecting his elders greatly. His mother taught him to be kind, to not judge others, that people come from all walks of life and all have different views on the world. One should respect their own views and feelings, but also respect those of other's.
Jin 仁 Compassion Through intense training and hard work the true warrior becomes quick and strong. They are not as most people. They develop a power that must be used for good. They have compassion. They help their fellow man at every opportunity. If an opportunity does not arise, they go out of their way to find one. Kagamiko's parents did not only teach him the ways of respect, but also kindness. That being kind to others is easier than being cruel, but not just to others--to everything around oneself. Power should be used to help those in need, or secure the peace for those at peace.
Makoto 誠 Integrity When warriors say that they will perform an action, it is as good as done. Nothing will stop them from completing what they say they will do. They do not have to 'give their word'. They do not have to 'promise'. Speaking and doing are the same action. "Do not promise what you cannot fulfill. If you promise the impossible then you must make the impossible possible." Kagamiko's father was stern on such a topic, not to decorate and give hope to those on wishes and that words--just like actions--should not be taken lightly. Each step one takes, each word one speaks--is the direction one ultimately makes.
Yu 勇 Heroic Courage Hiding like a turtle in a shell is not living at all. A true warrior must have heroic courage. It is absolutely risky. It is living life completely, fully and wonderfully. Heroic courage is not blind. It is intelligent and strong. Kagamiko was taught to live life to it's fullest--while still living within other code of conduct--that while a warrior should not fear risk and death, he should also move with understanding and intelligence. One cannot save them all, and in the end it is best to stay and save all that can be while still staying true and pure to one's own self and well being.
Meiyo 名誉 Honor Warriors have only one judge of honor and character, and this is themselves. Decisions they make and how these decisions are carried out is a reflection of whom they truly are. You cannot hide from yourself. One of the most important parts of Bushido his family had taught him. Yourself is the only true judge of your character, your truths, your memories, decisions, everything. What you do then, now, and to come is who you are and you must always remain true to yourself.
Chu 忠義 Duty & Loyalty Warriors are responsible for everything that they have done and everything that they have said, and all of the consequences that follow. They are immensely loyal to all of those in their care. To everyone that they are responsible for, they remain fiercely true. Kagamiko lives life understanding his regrets, his choices--good or bad--that duty and loyalty to one's lord is important, but so is their duty and loyalty to their kin--to all whom call Hydaelyn their home. Most importantly of all, is their loyalty and duty to one's self--no matter how hard it may be.
Jeisei 自制 Character & Self Control Bushido teaches that men should behave according to an absolute moral standard, one that transcends logic. What’s right is right, and what’s wrong is wrong. The difference between good and bad and between right and wrong are givens, not arguments subject to discussion or justification, and a man should know the difference. Finally, it is a man’s obligation to teach his children moral standards through the model of his own behavior Kagamiko believes that standing firm and being in complete self control is an absolute. Sometimes causing him to feel awkward, pained, or the like. His main reason for wearing a mask is so that others cannot see his expression or face upon loosing composure.

Kogarasmaru & Others

Kagamiko's tachi, Kogarasumaru Kogarasu Maru written as 小烏丸 meaning "Little Crow". Has no relations to the unique Japanese tachi sword rumored to have been created by legendary Japanese smith Amakuni during 8th century CE. It is a Koto style sword Koto (literally: old swords) is the general term used to describe swords made between the years 800 to 1600. The blade’s steel is lighter and softer when compared to Shinto swords, and they have a graceful curved elegance to them. Koto swords are seemingly better balanced in the hand, and are altogether easier to wield. In a word, magical… [5] A Treasure, Kogarasumaru is Kagamiko's most prized procession and a Kimura family heirloom as well as all he has left of his family. As he loves this item it is also his bane, since the fall and release from his lord he NEVER unsheathes it. The Sheathed Blade While Kagamiko never unsheathes Kogarasumaru, he is prone to using the sheathed weapon to knock out or disarm enemies. As he is not one to resort directly to violence unless it is just or he is commanded. (Though even if commanded he will not draw the blade if he feels it is not just.)
Due to the fact he refuses to unsheathe his tachi, Kagamiko now uses a Naginata a glaive-like pole-arm with a curved, single-edged blade that broadens out toward the point.

Overview

Kagamiko's techniques are influenced by Final Fantasy XI and Tactics Series' samurai combat wise. A swordsman who is stance based drawing aether with his weapon and himself to deal damage or support allies upfront. Though not all Kagamiko's techniques are based around samurai as he is also his own person with his own specialties. Mainly speaking his emerald mirror like eyes.

Techniques

Using his SHEATHED tachi or held weapon, Kagamiko fights at close range, his attacks and abilities are stance based. His attacking stance is Hasso (八双 A stance where the sword is held perpendicular to the ground and is used for various diagonal cuts such as Hasso Kesa Giri (八双袈裟斬り), which is a diagonal cut starting from one's shoulder.), in this stance he is unable to defend well(taking a penalty to defense) as well as unable to use any defensive or support abilities.
Some Hasso Abilities:
Tachi Kasha - (Kyuu no Tachi: Kassha or The Ninth Style of the Tachi: 'Wheel of Flowers') Like the blooming Hanaguruma flowers drifting in the breeze, Kagamiko wheels his weapon swiftly gathering greenish wind like aether at his feet as well as pink petal appearing and green leaf appearing aethers around his weapon before blasting his opponent close range with a display of leaves and petals swirling in the wind.
Tachi Shoha - (Jusan no Tachi: Shou ha or Thirteenth Style of the Tachi: Illuminating rend) A swift two fold attack that only appears to untrained eyes as one fluid movement. Astral aspected aethers gather to Kagamiko's weapon in a dazzling almost blinding light bursting into the air and falling like snowflakes after hitting it's mark.
Tachi Rana - (Ju no Tachi: Rana or "Tenth Style of the Tachi: 'Crow of War') is a technique blessed upon Kagamiko by Kogarasumaru. It can only be used if the blade is(if ever) unsheathed, and is basically his limit break. Channeling ambient aethers and borrowing the battle born aether of his comrades, Kagamiko channels the spirit of a large black crow from Kogarasumaru. His blade shines black and black feather appearing aether gathers upon slicing the enemy they are engulfed with a tornado of black feathers as well as a large black aether crow crashing down upon the target from top opening of the tornado.
His defensive stance is Seigan (正眼 Lit: Angle of the eyes, a basic defensive stance. Specifically it is the preparation for an enemy's attack by aiming your sword at their eyes. This stance is also done with the left foot back and the right foot forward, giving the defender a much better ability to step backwards while limiting their ability to attack. It is common to assume this stance immediately after drawing.) Kagamiko cannot attack well in such a stance losing all abilities of Hasso, losing damage, but gaining defense through parries and supportive abilities.
Some Seigen Abilities:
Kiyomori - (Purifying Breeze) Kagamiko releasing a wave of channeled light green wind like aether from himself healing allies in range around him, though not himself.
Shikikoyo - (Shikikouyou 士気高揚 "To raise spirit/morale") Kagamiko channels ambient aethers to give a target a wind like spirit that mimics their next action causing it to be doubled.
Konzen-ittai - (混然一体 "in complete harmony") Kagamiko clears his mind of all else aside enemy target, assuming his defensive stance he provokes his target as well as covers allies nearby. He is unable to act while under konzen-ittai and is basically a moving wall taking all hits towards his allies. Has no effect on AoE type damages, extremely risky and can easily be killed upon using without proper support.

OOC INFORMATION

Player Note
Roar. I like writing. I like cooking. I like blahblahblah. Hi.

Personal RP Limits
Limits subject to change and dependent on situation.
I will play mature content and themes (violence, sexuality, drug / alcohol use) as long as they're logical in a plot-driven encounter. Coarse and excessive language. Temporary injury and incapacitation. Temporary imprisonment. Most walk-up encounters. Always IC when Roleplay status is on, if you have Roleplay status on I will assume you are IC as well and I will assume your character is apart of the breathing world and not oblivious to everything going on around him/her.
Ask about long-term and/or permanent injury and disfigurement. Long-term captivity or imprisonment. You will most likely get a no. Do not feel deterred on asking questions though.
I won't play permanent character death. Erotic Roleplay for the sake of Erotic Roleplay. If you ever get any of my characters to such levels of intimacy it will be fade to blacks if anything.

Disclaimer
Little Tidbits. Subject to change and be added to.
If an aspect of RP makes you uncomfortable in a scene we're playing, please send me a /tell, letting me know. Communication is very important, more important than potentially keeping immersion. If you have lore questions of my character ask me--but please DO NOT do it while I am roleplaying with others ESPECIALLY in crowded areas and events. If you send me a tell during such you may be noticed but you will be ignored.

CHARACTER TIDBITS

Potential Plot Hooks
I am very lenient on lore, I will do most things if asked and it makes sense. I do appreciate /tells and such before hand though.
Kagamiko has recently come to Eorzea, he is now rōnin hoping to find purpose again in his ways. In need of a guard? Ask away!

Character Lore Adherence
'Kagamiko is classified as a Samurai. I am aware there is no lore on Samurai yet in XIV or if there will ever be any(but be real, it's a Japanese game by SquareEnix). He is based on the Edo period, Bushido, Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy Tactics Series type of Samurai. I have chosen the Edo period due to the fact lore hints on Raen name structure being of the 16th to 18th century[6] in which the Edo period was 1603 and 1868[7]. Once the game has official lore supporting theories they will be added, as of now and probably even when added to the game, Kagamiko is creating a samurai soulcrystal oppose to using one.
