General Backstory

Born deep within Peacegarden in the small woodlands village of Hyrstmill, Kagi'ir spent much of his youth training under his mother as an apprentice to the local Blacksmith, Gerolt. Much like the rest of the villagers that thrived within the sleepy landscape, he had a tendency to roam around the forest, his own curiosity enabling him to befriend various animals and creatures and collect fauna, studying them for his own leisure and hobby.

Alongside honing his skill with Gerolt, Kagi'ir was selected to become the next alpha breeder of his tribe; thanks to his keen hearing, he would overhear remarks and comments of the responsibilities he would face in his adult years during tribe meetings. He would hear stories of the hardships and dilemmas each breeding male would go through. With each passing meeting and the more daunting the task of breeding and providing healthy children to the tribe became, Kagi'ir knew he was not meant for that role, partially due to a recent development toward the attraction toward the other male Miqo'te of his tribe.

Slowly and to his mother's dismay, he lost interest in the arts of metalworking and procreation for his tribe and often found himself traveling to Bentbranch Meadows to gather various supplies for his tribe, as well as Gysahl Greens to feed to the local wild chocobo. After stumbling upon a breeding ranch near the Gysahl farm, Kagi'ir found chocobos to be rather interesting and useful creatures, especially alongside traveling adventurers. Despite the lack of interest in himself as a breeder male for his tribe, there was a large interest in learning about chocobos and their breeding habits. Luquelot, a breeder local to Bentbranch Meadows, often saw Kagi'ir talking to the large birds and offered him a tour around the vicinity and taught him which chocobo enjoyed what treat, as well as the individual temperaments of each. Enamored with how delicate and gentle the Elezen treated each individual chocobo, the young Miqo'te slowly found a hobby that he enjoyed. Little did he know that it would be a career choice he would take on well into his adult years.

Unfortunately, upon hearing the news that her son would often travel to visit the birds, Kagi'ir's mother was wrought with grief. Since his birth, she had taken immense pride in considering her son to be the most hardy and intelligent of the male Miqo'te born in the same Astral Era; to be chosen as the tribe's breeder was an honorable accomplishment. Due to his vehement lack of interest in the role, she could not allow herself to be associated with one who did not think of the tribe before their own values. Naturally, animosity and tension was thick in the air for years from his mother at first, and eventually branched out until Kagi'ir was ostracized by his own tribe.

Once he became of age to take on the role of an alpha breeder, he was called to a tribal meeting to discuss his role in the tribe. Opposed from the council that shared the same idea, Kagi'ir was exiled from the tribe.

Appearance

A rarity for a Keeper of the Moon, Kagi'ir sports a pale complexion with light freckles that blend in, making it difficult to distinguish from his skin tone. Irises mirroring the color of deep woods, they tend to stand out against his other features. However, a bandanna covers his left eye, hiding a thin scar that runs vertically along the side of his face - the result of a fight in a tavern after a long night of drinking. Short auburn hair with natural highlights and sun damage causing a shade of color lighter at the ends, save for black tipped ears; he keeps it short and choppy, partly due to lack of proper cutting tools, but mostly to keep it out of his eyes. Normally found in all dark attire with gold accents lining the breast pockets and tassels at his shoulders, he is hardly ever seen with his uniform in disarray.

Beneath the uniform, Kagi'ir hides a well-toned body. After years of honing his body as a vessel to the Echo, he has also trained specific muscles to endure the long fights and chases through all manners of weather and obstacles one in his line of work often tend to go through. Naturally, his body is also marked with various scars and blemishes - all of which have a story in themselves.
