Age Nineteen Occupation Apprentice Blacksmith Orientation Heteroflexible Alignment Chaotic Neutral Affiliation Sato Smithing GENERAL INFORMATION KIMIKO MOTOTSUKA (Pronunciation: Key-mee-ko Mah-tot-soo-kah) usually manages to fall into just one of two categories: adored or abhorred. Standing at just a measly four fulms and seven ilms, it's naturally easy to just look over her. There is no need to worry, however: she will make herself heard. There never was an Au Ra with the capability of shouting as loud as she is able. It is a shame she tortures those powerful lungs of hers with a vicious smoking habit. While she comes off as the cheeriest Au Ra one may come across, it'd be a major mistake to let her fool you: she has her eyes on your wallet. APPEARANCE Kimiko tends to contrast her white scales with quite a needlessly large layer of dark make-up. Typically speaking, her eyelids contain a large dose of eyeshadow and eyeliner -- certainly something she picked up from the dregs of Lominsan society. It's not uncommon for the Raen to try and compensate for her small stature with a large assortment of colorful clothes and jewelry. PERSONALITY Loud. Cheerful. Rebellious. If there's one thing Kimiko hates in this world, it's The Man. Having one of the strictest upbringings a Doman could have, she has sprung into a hyper-rebellious adult. Or, so she would consider herself, anyway. There is nothing she loves more than messing with someone or spouting jokes at rather inappropriate times. The Raen loves mischief and causing trouble wherever she is capable. However, this is not to say that she is cruel. At heart, Kimiko is (likely) a genuinely good person. She does possess a deep concern for those she cares about and can sometimes even be protective if necessary. LIKES JEWELRY. Kimiko has a penchant for the flashy. It's not uncommon to find her bedazzled with heaps of different accessories. However, she generally tries to use them to make herself seem tougher instead of wealthy. (See "Visuals"). CANDY. Kimiko has a large sweet tooth. Candy makes a fantastic bargaining chip to sway her actions. LOUD MUSIC. Kimiko constantly keeps her orchestrion cranked up in her apartment. Her neighbors have made constant complaints for her to be quieter, but she has been quick to brush them off. DISLIKES GARLEANS. Unsurprising for a Doman, Kimiko is extremely prejudiced against Garleans and Garlemald as a whole. To her, there is no such thing as a good Garlean. AUTHORITY. Kimiko isn't fond of authority. As a matter of fact, it's not uncommon for her to want to do something simply because she was told not to do it. THE POSH. Kimiko has long denounced her previous upper-class lifestyle. As a result, she feels disdain when seeing people who are conspicuously well-off. STRENGTHS HEIGHT. Kimiko knows how to use her short-stature to her advantage. Standing at less than five fulms, there's just naturally less of her to hit. So, her strategy is always simple: aim low. STREET TRAINING. The dregs of Limsa Lominsa have provided Kimiko with various valuable lessons -- many of which include fighting techniques. She knows more than a few maneuvers on how to fight dirty. SILVER TONGUE. Kimiko has talked herself out of numerous situations in the past. How prevalent this skill actually tends to be, however, depends on the situation. It's common for her to talk herself deeper into an issue as well. WEAKNESSES COCKINESS. It is incredibly common for Kimiko to bite off more than she can chew. This has caused her to receive a number of beatings in the past. WEAK UPPER BODY. Most of Kimiko's strength is in her legs. She's at a severe disadvantage when put in a situation revolving around brute strength. TEMPER. Unlike many Raen, Kimiko can be very hot-headed. Details about the fight. EARLY LIFE Kimiko was born to Kazuo and Mitsuko Mototsuka in the far eastern nation of Doma. Her mother died shortly after her birth, leaving her father to raise his daughter on his own. Kimiko's father was a fiercely traditional sort, holding the customs of their homeland in the highest regard. His peers especially noted his defiance to the Garlean occupation, spending most of his life distributing revolutionary material and literature in secret. Kazuo molded his daughter into the Doman customs. As an affluent family, theirs was a life of the highest extravagance. It was rare for Kimiko to leave the family estate, but available to her was her father's grand wealth of knowledge. People came and went, unknowingly absorbing a large amount of revolutionary rhetoric right under the Garleans' nose. At the age of four, Kimiko was reading one book a day. She wasn't necessarily a prodigy, but her father spared no effort in attempts to turn her into one. She became a proper lady, never speaking when spoken to and never allowing one hair to go out of place. Kimiko absorbed the Doman arts and culure with a strong eagerness. She was small, frail and always adorned in the finest clothes. These habits progressed into her teenage years. She was talented, young and had the world available to her. EVICTION When Kimiko was fifteen years old, her father took on a new servant named Hideatsu Yori. He was a generally mild-mannered man who didn't speak much and, for the most part, kept to himself. Thus, it perhaps came as a surprise to the Mototsuka when it turned out that he would be the harbinger of their end: an agent of Garlemald. Unbeknownst to the family, he had relayed several messages to the Garlean occupiers within Doma. When Kazuo learned of his servant's treachery, he made quick work of him -- although the gears were already in place.. Kazuo was informed of the oncoming of a small band of Garleans, agents who no doubt had the intent to be rid of him and his family. He was a thorn in the side of the empire for too long. Kazuo made arrangements for Kimiko to be sent out of Othard to Eorzea, a land which was, for the most part, free of the empire's taint. Kimiko was sent away onto a cargo ship set for Radz-at-Han. Kazuo, meanwhile, stayed behind. It was him the empire had wanted. That was the last time she had ever seen her father. In Thavnair, Kimiko met an Eorzean acquaintance of her father: the traveler Devon Selwyn. In accordance with a past deal made with Kazuo, Devon vowed to be Kimiko's guardian in the foreign land. They arrived in the port of Limsa Lominsa. While Devon went to search for stable employment, Kimiko was left to her own devices in the port city.
