==History==

Like many Keepers of the Moon, Koh'li was subject to the mild (and sometimes not-so-mild) racism of other Gridanians. Fortunately, it never really seemed to bother him, though due to his age he may not have ever understood it at the time. In 1568, he found himself drawn to the magicks wielded by the conjurers of Stillglade Fane, and soon begged his parents to allow him to become one himself. While he was an adequate conjurer, it was only a matter of time before Koh'li became bored with the practices of the Conjurer's Guild, finding discomfort on the sidelines as a caster of the healing arts.<br />

Through his rather vocal frustration, however, he soon discovered that not all magick was found among the Elementals. Leaning of the Arcanist's Guild in the far away city of Limsa Lominsa, Koh'li once again pleaded with his parents to allow him to leave the forests in favour of the seas. This would be the first time Koh'li had ever left the Black Shroud, but as nervous as he was, he openly embraced the journey into a new land. In 1571, Koh'li packed his bags, purchased a ticket to Limsa Lominsa, and left his home with a brave smile on his face.<br />

While Limsa Lominsa was only to be a temporary home, the young Miqo'te soon found his heart swept up by the ocean's waves, and he quickly found work to keep himself bound to Lominsa. While furthering his studies as an arcanist, he worked at Maelvaan's Gate, helping regulate what passed into his new home. Though known as a pacifist, he chanced upon seeing the deeds of the Maelstroms in action, and it roused a sense of patriotism within him. Turning his quill and inkwells in for a red coat, Koh'li joined the Maelstroms and served in many missions to protect La Noscea on a grander scale.<br />

While Koh'li fought bravely during his time with the Maelstroms, he was at heart a pacifist, and after a few years in service to Limsa Lominsa, decided to try his hand at becoming his own boss in a rather peculiar way. Discovering his love for orange juice, he had decided that he could improve upon it, and sell this new and improved brand of juice, along with other such juices. Unfortunately, his passion had been a commodity for quite some time in Limsa Lominsa, so he turned his attention back to his home of Gridania. While he found some success, his time in Gridania was cut short by the arrival of an Au Ra named [[Natya Rudh]] who sought passage to Limsa Lominsa. Having needed to replenish his fruits, and a tad bit short on gil, Koh'li offered to escort Natya back to Limsa and act as the foreigner's guide throughout Vylbrand.<br />

The two traveled together for a short time, though their paths would eventually diverge from one another. Koh'li once again attempted to peddle his fruit juice blends, though the monetary means to sustain his business proved to be too great, having not made much gil as it was. Defeated, Koh'li returned to Maelvaan's Gate, and resumed his duties as a customs officer. It was during his time back in Lominsa that he heard tales of a forbidden art, one that harnessed the power of one's inner darkness to be utilized as a weapon. Ever fond of new magicks, Koh'li quickly learned of that practitioners of these magicks, known as dark knights, were deemed as heathens by the Holy See of Ishgard. Sensing that more could be learned from this secluded city than could be in the mainland, Koh'li began to send letters to the Houses of Ishgard under several false pretenses. After several exchanges through mail, a representative of one of the Houses of Ishgard had rendezvoused with Koh'li to discuss whether or not the outsider should be permitted to pass through the Holy See.<br />

While an answer was not immediate, the gates of Ishgard were cautiously opened to the Miqo'te, who quickly did all he could to learn about the dark knights in secret. Eventually, Koh'li was found out, though not by the Temple Knights of Ishgard, but by his future mentor, who taught Koh'li the ways of harnessing the darkness within himself. Jubilant with his newfound abilities, he discarded his tomes and his home in favour of a blade and the city he had fought tooth and nail to enter, all the while oblivious to the changes that began to take hold within his heart...

<spoiler>After Koh'li reveals himself as Deudalaphon to the Warrior of Light, he acts much calmer and speaks in a slightly more refined manner, abandoning his more casual and cheerful way of speech. While he genuninely cares for the Warrior of Light and considers them his friend, he insists that should the Rejoining be nigh, he would side with his fellow Ascians to resurrect Zodiark. Despite his loyalty to both the Warrior of Light and the Ascians, Deudalaphon refuses to aid either side in their struggle, claiming to simply be an observer for now, wishing to only see how events play out without his interference.</spoiler>

Personality

Koh'li is usually relaxed in his activities, whether clearing out dungeons, or taking on monstrous foes. This calm outlook on life extends to his daily routine as well, and can often be found lounging about various locations across Eorzea. Though he often boasts about his abilities, he does so lightheartedly, never taking himself too seriously. While often times shrugging off compliments or praise, the Hyur tends to become rather confident during less-than-heroic flirtations towards the men of Eorzea. His confidence is also apparent in the delivery of his occasional vulgar and dark humor, which is always told with a laugh and smile. One of his major vices is his love of gambling, as demonstrated by the extensive time he spends at the Gold Saucer. His love of risk and luck has often times left him with empty pockets.

One of the Hyur's most unusual traits, however, is his fascination with the Garlean Empire. While most citizens of Eorzea view the Empire as a tyrannical army, the Hyur often questions if resisting them is truly best for Eorzea, often focusing on the technological advances of their Magitek machinery. This has often led to the scorn of others, along with several angry confrontations from those he manages to infuriate with his radical line of thought. Despite his flaws, Koh'li genuinely does what he can to be of use to anyone that asks of his assistance, though his lazy nature often leaves him second-guessing his decisions to offer his assistance.
