The son of a Miqo'te and Hyur, Koh'li is a sociable Hyur who quickly befriends the Warrior of Light. Despite not being part of the Scions, he always seems to be in the right place at the right time to meet the WoL wherever they go.

After the Warrior of Light defeats Emet-Selch, Koh'li requests to meet them at Zenith in the Churning Mists, a location Koh'li had visited many times. When the Warrior of Light appears, Koh'li states that he laments Emet-Selch's fate, but states that Emet-Selch brought about his own end. The Hyur then reveals that he too is an Ascian, formerly introducing himself as Deudalaphon. The Ascian explains that he has lived multiple lives throughout his life, moving from body to body to experience life through the eyes of the lesser races of the Source and its thirteen shards.

Deudalaphon also explains that he had abandoned his role to bring about the Rejoining centuries ago, opting to simply become a bystanding and witness the battle between the light and the darkness. He confesses in earnest that he has come to see the Warrior of Light as his friend, he insists that he will not try to stop him in halting the Rejoining, though also firmly stating that he will not help them prevent it. The Ascian also explains that should the Rejoining be at hand, he would return to the aid of his fellow Ascians to resurrect Zodiark, though he admits he hopes by that time the Warrior of Light will be by his side as opposed to being his enemy.

Personality

Koh'li is usually relaxed in his activities, whether clearing out dungeons, or taking on monstrous foes. This calm outlook on life extends to his daily routine as well, and can often be found lounging about various locations across Eorzea. Though he often boasts about his abilities, he does so lightheartedly, never taking himself too seriously. While often times shrugging off compliments or praise, the Hyur tends to become rather confident during less-than-heroic flirtations towards the men of Eorzea. His confidence is also apparent in the delivery of his occasional vulgar and dark humor, which is always told with a laugh and smile. One of his major vices is his love of gambling, as demonstrated by the extensive time he spends at the Gold Saucer. His love of risk and luck has often times left him with empty pockets.

One of the Hyur's most unusual traits, however, is his fascination with the Garlean Empire. While most citizens of Eorzea view the Empire as a tyrannical army, the Hyur often questions if resisting them is truly best for Eorzea, often focusing on the technological advances of their Magitek machinery. This has often led to the scorn of others, along with several angry confrontations from those he manages to infuriate with his radical line of thought. Despite his flaws, Koh'li genuinely does what he can to be of use to anyone that asks of his assistance, though his lazy nature often leaves him second-guessing his decisions to offer his assistance.

After Koh'li reveals himself as Deudalaphon to the Warrior of Light, he acts much calmer and speaks in a slightly more refined manner, abandoning his more casual and cheerful way of speech. While he genuninely cares for the Warrior of Light and considers them his friend, he insists that should the Rejoining be nigh, he would side with his fellow Ascians to resurrect Zodiark. Despite his loyalty to both the Warrior of Light and the Ascians though, Deudalaphon refuses to aid either side in their struggle, claiming to simply wish to seeing how events play out without his interference.
