Personality

Kyranyx is rather easy-going, someone who rolls with the punches and accepts whatever is laid before her. Some could view it as carelessness, but she believes any opportunity is something worth her consideration at the very least, whether it be dangerous or not.

She is a bit of a follower in that she will follow her friends and where they go, but she also considers herself a bit of a free spirit. She doesn't allow herself to be tangled down with something for too long unless it's something special to her or someone she knows. Despite her wanderlust however, she is also quite dedicated to those she knows and trusts.

There is a sense of melancholy about her character as well, but she does try to hide this from people she doesn't know very well (and even if you do know her, it's probable she won't let on about it).

History

Born in Ala Mhigo, Kyranyx grew up like many children did in the state. As soon as she could lift a sword or fire a bow, she took it on herself to become as skillful as her mother and father both were, as they had been renowned soldiers that had served King Theodoric when they were capable of fighting, whom they still continued to serve despite the controversies in his later years as king. But when she was still but a child, the Garleans seized control of the state, and drove a wedge in her family. Kyranyx along with her father was able to escape the state before he was conscripted, but unfortunately her mother was taken in by the military forces to serve Garlean Empire, leaving only the girl and her father to make it on their own in Eorzea.

Together, the pair fled to The Black Shroud, where Kyranyx further practiced her skill with the bow that had been passed down in her family for generations, while her father, Eyvind, made money for them by taking whatever jobs he was offered as a sellsword. Wanting his daughter to have a future, her father waited until she was about eighteen years old before he began to take her along with him. Most jobs that the two worked on together were not very intensive, often guarding a person or persons of interest or transporting items from one location to another while protecting their cargo from bandits. Eventually, Kyranyx's father began to grow old and frail, and soon employers began to turn him away, although they still allowed Kyranyx to work as she had proven herself just as capable as Eyvind was.

At first, she was incredibly successful, at first only being picked as someone to serve alongside other guardsmen, but eventually the employers she served who were merchants from Ul'dah took notice of the girl's skill in leadership and general skill in combat as well, and elected her to be the leader of the sellswords. The success and promotion that came quick to Kyranyx gave her an incredible amount of confidence, but also brought her a bit of an ego and a lot of pride, which her father warned her to not allow grow too big, lest she make a mistake she regret. For a time though, Kyranyx did her job excellently, fighting off any bandits who tried to intercept their goods with little effort, and Kyranyx's efforts along with the rest of her men earned her plenty of gil to help provide for herself and her father.

Yet things did not last that way forever. It had been years since her promotion and she had been making a great deal of money for both her and her men as well as her employers. Like several times before, Kyranyx and her small company of mercenaries were ambushed by a few bandits. The guards managed to fend off the bandits and sent them fleeing, but Kyranyx gave chase and encouraged her men to follow. They had followed the bandits all the way to their hideout, and many were lying in wait, ready to strike at any who tried to attack them in their own home. The battle was bloody, and although Kyranyx was ultimately victorious in the fight, all of her men had perished as a result of her cockiness, and when she had returned to the cargo they were carrying, she had found that had disappeared, stolen by some force.

Empty handed, mourning for the loss of her men, and knowing at the very least that she would be fired by her employers, if not killed by them, Kyranyx shamefully returned to the house in The Lavender Beds that she had set up for her father. She told him of what had occurred, and he only reminded her of his warning and told her that he was disappointed in her.

Lost and unsure of what to do, she had heard word of a land far east that had begun to train people in a new martial art. Curious and seeking some form of recompense for her mistake that cost many lives, she traveled to Kugane in search of a teacher. Although it was tough at first, she did eventually find a woman by the name of Tsuyu Hatasashi who was willing to take her on. The training was intense and something that at times almost broke Kyranyx's will entirely, but she persevered. As the final part of her training, Tsuyu sent Kyranyx on a year long sabbatical, in order to learn more from the world and to put her skills to the test. However a few months into her sabbatical, unbeknownst to Kyranyx at the time, Tsuyu had become very ill after complications with a mysterious illness that was believed to be just a common cold, and she passed away after a few weeks. Kyranyx had continued her sabbatical for almost a full month until news reached her for Tsuya's passing, and the Highlander returned to Kugane for a time to mourn.

With her mentor gone and a lack of purpose now in her life, Kyranyx has resigned to wandering Eorzea, helplessly searching for a new purpose in the world in hopes that she may finally be able to redeem herself for her mistakes.

I'm not a fan of certain types of RP. I won't really list it all out cause honestly a lot of it is something I probably won't encounter. Just ask me if you have an idea and I'll let you know if I'm cool with it or not. That said, I don't really want to like kill her or anything as soon as my character meets and honestly I'm not a big fan of combat RP so I would like to avoid that. However if I know you well enough or I trust you enough I'm cool with fight RP.
