Leofric Rivers

As something of a humble trader, and the sole proprietor of Rivers Trading Company in the sun soaked land of Ul'dah, Leofric appears as nothing spectacular. Amid colorful faces, he remains ever plain in looks and personality. A face you would not necessarily think twice about. Though to some, who look and see past his genial facade, there is something a bit... off lurking behind his smile. Still despite such questions, Leofric has never given reason to believe that the darkness lurking was anything more than perhaps from a life best forgotten. After all, the land and times are harsh, and have been for a rather long time, no? And it is not a crime to be a little less than truly friendly.
Standing at 5 fulms and 10 ilms, Leofric is only slightly taller than one might expect from a midlander. He is of lean build, and could have been described as lanky were it not for the whipcord like muscles that filled out his frame. He looks every bit a soldier, posture tall and strong despite his obvious attempts to soften it. Despite this, his overall features and coloring are plain, nothing truly coming to the fore, but yet not quite unpleasant to look at- even handsome, had his coloring been a little more striking to the eyes. Sharp, hazel eyes. Sandy, desert colored hair- worn no longer than the tops of his shoulders, and obviously well cared for. Sun kissed skin, yet not dark enough to signify a life spent in sun. All leave him a rather unremarkable individual at first glance. And even the second. However, despite his insistence that he is but a humble merchant, it is obvious from his ever smooth and meticulously groomed appearance that he spends both the time and gil on taking care of himself. A mark that he might not be so humble as he might like to seem. Yet even so, underneath the softness of this are the makings of someone who works hard for a living. Calloused hands and fingers greet any who care to see. Hands marked by untold amounts of thin, silvery scars that mark a life of working with his hands. Indeed, in general, he has a fair few scars scattered across his body, all faded with age and none so distinct as to make it obvious where said mark came from.
Aspects That Stand Out:
Playful and mischievous is the first thing that comes to mind when considering Leofric's personality. Particularly with those he sees as an amusing diversion. Sometimes he is purposefully obvious, for the drama of it all, and other times he is far more subtle. But one cannot say that is all he is. Underneath the surface of the playfulness lies a serious, focused, and driven individual. In fact, he is often possessed of calculating coldness beneath the veneer of civility. He lacks a true capacity for empathy and compassion, though on occasion, may offer a smidgen of something akin to sympathy. When such a thing fits within the mercy of his whims. For all this, he does seem to retain an awareness of what he lacks- and certainly gives attempts to 'fit in' as they call it. And yet he is not someone for friendship, or companionship no matter the occasion. There are connections, allies, and those useful to him and nothing more. Even his protege, who receives far more consideration than most as a pseudo son, is seen only as "useful" and "something worth cultivating" in the end. But should you reach the stage where you become a trusted tool? Do not expect him to ever let you go. Underneath it all, Leofric is a possessive individual when he considers something- or someone, his.
