As the sole proprietor of Rivers Trading Company, a humble establishment in the sun soaked land of Ul'dah, Leofric portrays himself as but another face in the crowd. And even amid the colorful and exotic faces that surround him, he is content to keep his plain and unassuming appearance. A face you would not necessarily think twice about would do him far more than a particularly striking one. Though not wholly unattractive...as one might find a neighbor pleasing to look at, but not necessarily a beauty. Though to those who look closer and see past his genial facade, there is something a bit... off lurking behind his easy smile. A lack of sincerity in every gesture. Still despite such inclinations, Leofric has never given reason to believe that the darkness lurking was anything more than it is. After all, the land and times are harsh, and have been for a rather long time, no? And it is not a crime to be a little less than truly friendly when one can so easily lose all that they have. And he makes no effort to hide his past as the bastard son of a whore, half living in the streets of Limsa Lominsa.
Standing at 5 fulms and 10 ilms, Leofric is only slightly taller than one might expect from a midlander. He is of a particularly lean build, and could have once been described as lanky, were it not for the whipcord like muscles that filled out his frame. He looks every bit a soldier, posture stiff and tall, despite his obvious attempts to soften it. Despite this, his overall features and coloring are plain, nothing truly coming to the fore, but yet not quite unpleasant to look at. Sharp, hazel eyes. A sandy, desert colored hair- worn no longer than the tops of his shoulders, and obviously well cared for. Sun kissed skin, yet not dark enough to signify a life spent in sun. However, despite his insistence that he is but a humble merchant, it is obvious from his ever meticulously groomed appearance that he spends both the time, and the gil on keeping up with his appearance. A mark that he might not be so humble as he might like to seem. It wouldn't be going too far to suspect that everything he shows is part of a carefully cultivated persona. He is a merchant, after all. Yet even so, underneath all the pomp there are the makings of someone who has had to work hard for a living. Calloused hands and fingers meet with every touch. The untold amounts of thin, silvery scars of varying sorts that littered around his knuckles and fingers. Indeed, in general, he has a fair few scars scattered across his body, all faded with age and none so distinct as to make it obvious of how they were acquired.For all he may try to show to pretend, his body plays out the history of hard work he must have endured to enter the place he is today.
Aspects That Stand Out:
Playful and mischievous. Those are the first things to come to mind when considering Leofric's personality. Particularly to those he sees as an amusing diversion. Sometimes he is purposefully obvious with his sadistic sense of humor, for the drama of it all, and other times he is far more subtle with his jabs. But underneath the surface of the playfulness lies a serious, focused, and driven individual. In fact, he is often possessed of a calculating coldness beneath the veneer of civility he wears like a skin. And, indeed, he lacks a true capacity for empathy and compassion. Though on occasion, may possess a crude manner of understanding such matters. When such a thing fits to the mercy of his current whims, that is. For all this, he does seem to retain an awareness of what he lacks- and certainly gives attempts to 'fit in' as they call it. And yet he is not someone to seek friendship, or companionship no matter the occasion. There are connections, allies, one nightstands, and those useful to him. Nothing more. Nothing less. Even his protege, who receives far more consideration than most as a pseudo son, is seen only as "a useful tool" in the end. But should you reach the stage where you become someone he trusts? Do not expect him to ever let you go. Leofric is a possessive individual when he considers something- or someone, his. And in his own way, he will do everything- and anything to gift or please those that manage to worm their way into his acceptance.
