Personality

Ly'rahla is a sedate and taciturn individual, befitting his role as a hunter of his tribe. He often chooses to stay quiet around strangers or when speaking isn't truly necessary, keeping most of his thoughts and opinions to himself. When he does speak, he does so with a quiet voice so as to not drown out any other voice -- indeed, most of the male's actions scream of the socially submissive type. He is slow to anger yet slow to cool down, gaining quite a surprising bit of confidence when irritated or angered. However, if he's humiliated or embarrassed while angered, he does deflate back to his quiet self rather quickly.

History

Ly'rahla was born generations after an offshoot tribe of the Vipers, the Cobra tribe, was formed due to disagreements in leadership. This tribe was based near and around Ala Mhigo in Gyr Abania, due to the termperate yet sunny and bright location, as worshippers of Azeyma. Unfortunately, Ala Mhigo was fated for destruction at the hands of the Garlean Empire, and while it was the city-state itself that the empire wanted, the Cobra tribe knew that to lose Ala Mhigo to the Empire was to risk encroachment on their own lands. Many strong hunters and fighters of the tribe aided Ala Mhigo's military in fending off the Empire, leaving very few back at their village. Even this assistance was not enough, though, and the city-state was lost to the Empire.

Opting to flee their natal lands, the Cobra tribe left Ilsabard with grief hanging on their hearts from the huge loss of their tribe members. They made a pilgrimage far to the south, along with the Ala Mhigans to a distant land (away from the Shroud due to its blotting out the sun): the sands of Thanalan, in a land deeper into the Sagolii than those of the U, for example. Despite the blistering heat, the Cobras found a new home in the desert, with water originating from a nearby oasis to replenish them. While their new home suited them well due to the familiar heat and shining sun, they miss their natal lands dearly, and continue to seek an opportunity to reclaim it, much like the Ala Mhigans. Ly'rahla Tia was born in such a time, nary a few years after the fall of Ala Mhigo just as the Ly tribe began to properly settle in the Sagolii. Ly'rahla grew up quickly, hunting and taming beasts with others of both sexes to further his skills with both spear and sword. In particular, the Ly tribe was rather fond of drakes as companions and mounts due to their ferocity, intelligence and their hooded, cobra-like heads, and Ly'rahla himself was gifted with an egg, later hatching into a drake to raise himself when he turned a decade old.

Ly'rahla grew up with tales of Gyr Abania and the great sport and lands to be found there, as well as those who took the lands from them. Despite not ever fighting Garlemald, Ly'rahla grew to despise them the more he heard of and from them, especially after the Empire itself moved to try capturing Eorzea twice, before and after the Calamity, with the Ly tribe ever fearing losing yet another home. At age seventeen, Ly'rahla had borne witness to the Amalj'aa and the summoning of their god Ifrit during a battle in which the Cobras assisted the U tribe, in a similar manner to their assisting Ala Mhigo so as to not lose their territory. Unfortunately, history repeated, and the battle in Zanr'ak was lost with Ly'rahla being the sole escapee of the conflict, with the others being killed, captured, or tempered. Horrified at the sheer power of the Amalj'aa and Ifrit and ashamed at failing his tribe, Ly'rahla fled back to the Forgotten Springs, choosing not to return to his village. He assimilated with the U tribe, who at least respected him due to his hunting skill and willingness to assist them in hunts and conflicts.

Continuing to assist the U tribe and living among them, Ly'rahla remained timid and taciturn, despite getting along well with both the women and other men, as he had no wish to ever attempt to grow into a place of prominence in the tribe, simply living and hunting. In the wake of the second Garlean attempt at the conquest of Eorzea, Ly'rahla had finally began setting foot out of the Forgotten Springs (while still ever remaining welcome due to his help in hunting), seeking to train up more and grow his skills so that nothing like the massacre in Zanr'ak, and the massacre in Ala Mhigo, would happen again with him around. Currently, he's been skulking around Ul'dah and interacting with many of the Ala Mhigans.

Equipment & Skills

Weapons

Ly'rahla is highly skilled with bladed weapons, including the lance, axe, and sword. The Ly tribe's main form of combat lies with the lance, in fact, relating the style of combat with the swiftness and agility of a cobra.

Skills

Ly'rahla knows many forms of first aid and survival skills which aid him in the wilds, including firemaking and cooking, triage, burn-mending (especially useful in Thanalan), scouting, tracking, and hunting.
