Nandin Shulam
SISTER OF THE MOON.
As you move toward the center, there is an open temple. | A presence patiently waits for you | And as you walk toward the inward glade | You can see the pale, calm, luminous face... . translated excerpt from "Kuan Yin Journey for Healing and Compassion"

Many tales and cultures can be destroyed by the simple act of destruction, of both land and man--and that is the story of Nandin, the possible last survivor of the Shulam Tribe. Nandin, a refugee from Othard, came to Eorzea in the past two years, an exile from both her tribe and her homeland. Once landing on the dock’s at Vesper Bay, Nandin trekked towards the city of Commerce seeking sanctuary, only to find that she--along with many other Doman refugees-- would be turned down Unlike her Doman brethren, Nandin stayed in Thanalan, specifically sticking to the streets of Ul’dah as a blind beggar. Currently, she takes shelter within Aethertide Venture’s establishment, acting as a practicing Traditional Medic, this including Major Herbalism and Alchemy knowledge, along with dietary and physical therapy skills.
There is something almost ethereal about Nandin at first glance. One wouldn’t call her appearance of a divine sort, rather one would perhaps liken it to a ghost. This could be because of her very, very pale complexion. A common trait shared within her tribe is skin the color of stones, ranging from deep dark grays to more paler tones, her own skin tone falling to the later; resembling the marble statues of Era’s past, a color that is creates a striking contrast with her deep navy blue scales seen in all Xaela. Her horns a large for her head and resemble the pincers of insects. Her tail is very thin with small spike-like protrusions at the tip of it and running up the top of it. She stands at five fulms and seven ilms, fairly taller than her some of her auri sisters but not so much so that. What makes her look taller however is her small, lanky frame. This isn’t a thin frame gained by exercise, as there are still spots on her body --specific her cheeks and stomach-- that hold a bit of fat. Aside from that, there aren’t that many curves on Nandin’s figure. Her shoulders are also a bit broad on her frame, but again not because of muscle instead it just being her bone structure. She did once have slight muscle, but all has been lost since her arrival to Eorzea. Nandin normally smells like crushed wildgrass and wet, moldy wood. Though sometimes she will carry the aroma of whatever herb she was working with that day. However there have been moments where she had a coppery or burnt smell to her. For her facial features, she is beautiful in a non-beautiful way. She has slightly small chin, but it's not severe. What makes it look weak at first glance is her small, v-shaped jaw. Her eyes are monolid and quite large, with the corners turned downwards; giving them a droopy, almost sad like appearance. The only color one can see in her eyes are her bright gold Limbal Rings, as the rest of her eyes are covered with a cloudy film, showcasing her cataracts. Even with her chubby cheeks, you can still tell she has high cheekbones, they’re just slightly hidden. Nandin’s nose is straight with a soft tip and a high bridge. Her lips are very, very plump with a noticeable cupids bow. One would never catch Nandin without her lips darkened, as dark--almost black tinted lips are seen as a quality of beauty within her tribe. Her hair is best described as ‘fluffy’. It was always voluminous, but it's wrought with flyaways. She does have bangs, but instead of staying straight across her forehead the strands clump together and sway to the side, giving her sidebangs instead. The loose strands of hair that fall to her collarbone are held together with two small, black wooden beads that the strands pass through. The rest of her mane falls to her mid back. Basically, she has a very messy and unkempt hime-style haircut. Her clothes are not as glamorous as they once were . She now wears the most simplest cloth bearing typical Ul’dahn pauper fashion, though she hopes to someday have access to a loom so she can properly make her own clothes in her old style, not AS lavishly but something sort of similar. Aspects That Stand Out:
Chaie is, in many aspects, a very contrasting person; while there is a sheer passion deep inside her soul, the body she was born in shows naught an inch of that fire, instead providing only a flickering, fragile flame. This, of course, did not befit the standards of Highland ideality and beauty, resulting in a deep grounding bitterness and rage. She is quick to burn out, and as such, much of her energy is stuck within her, forcing her to keep her emotions to herself. Thus, she is secretive, and spins from periods of self-pity and self-rejection with ease. Prone to intense envy and wrath, she is not one to place her mind above her heart, and when scorned, she will almost never forgive with ease. Very supersticious and negative in her thoughts, she can be described as a 'bitter' person by one who sees into her thought currents. While a deeply caring person to those she loves and cherishes, she can be a bit of a 'smother', and can quickly overwhelm with her manners of showing affection, and protection. Overbearing and overnurturing. Despite her undeniable proneness to negativity and jealousy, she is a very strong sympathizer- and holds a very, very strong sense of condolence; a naturally nurturing person who wishes the best for her close folks and is wholeheartedly prepared to accompany them along the way. She is passionate, and easy to befriend; thoughtful, loyal, and eager to help. Likes her job as a healer, as she appreciates being able to improve people's lives without burning herself out in the process; she often likes to check on past patients to see how they are doing. However, she would rather take on adventuring in a job such as thaumaturgy- yet the danger upon her health would be far too great. Appreciates conversation, and likes being with individuals who she can joke with. Her speech pattern is quite peculiar, as she is often short of breath before finishing a full sentence; resulting in her taking breaths and sighs in-between words, and stopping talking before continuing once again. Firm opposer of the phrase 'the ends justify the means', and very hesistant to cooperate with anyone who fares from Garlean lands. She is a firm believer of karmic processes, and avoids doing hurtful deeds. Quite clever, yet easy to become distracted during lectures and academic purposes. Loves cooking, but can't afford the costs often. Does follow personally
