LIKES DISLIKES Naoh'to has a definite taste for the sound of gil in his coinpurse and the finer things in life. He has a love - some might even call it a weakness - for fine women (and on rare occasion, fine men as well), fine liquor, and a fine game of cards or dice - especially if the stakes are high. Likewise, much like other male Keepers, he is quite nomadic and has a love of traveling, especially if those travels take him far, far from Gridania. He's also particularly fond of the night hours, for obvious reasons. After growing up poaching in the Black Shroud and an early adulthood spent relocating illicit goods, Naoh'to has no love for authority figures or upholders of the law. That goes double for Wood Wailers and the Gods' Quiver. Nor does he have any love for people with high moral standards that he cannot easily bribe or manipulate if need be. Finally, while he has somewhat adjusted to diurnal city-life, intense daylight or overall bright places tend to hurt his eyes and give him headaches. STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES Naoh'to's strength doesn't actually lie in his physical prowess, though he is quite dextrous and swift. Rather, his true strength comes across socially - in his ability to talk to people and his resulting penchant for trade. In terms of actual skills, Naoh'to's early life as a hunter and poacher in the Black Shroud saw to his development in skills like tracking, hunting, trapping, and leatherworking. When taken in a physical sense, Naoh'to's weakness is clearly his physical abilities. He's not especially strong or resilient, making him a backline fighter if he has to fight at all. Truly, though, he'd much rather talk or bribe his way out of conflict altogether nowadays. In terms of personality, Naoh'to's better judgment can oftentimes be clouded by his greed, over-confidence, and hedonistic ways. ASPIRATIONS FEARS REGRETS Naoh'to's aspirations are fairly simple. Chiefly, he just wants the freedom to do as he pleases. To him, that means that he needs to get his hands on copious amounts of gil to afford his taste for a more lavish lifestyle. A minor aspiration would be for him to make a name for himself in the underground trading ring that rivals that of even his late mentor. In relation to his desires for freedom, Naoh'to's biggest fear is to have his freedom taken or to be tied down to any one place, person, or situation. Therefore, any sort of imprisonment or long-term commitment can really make him nervous. Finally, while not necessarily a fear, Naoh'to is prone to paranoia about being betrayed due to events in his past. The one major aspect of Naoh'to's past that continues to and likely will always haunt him would be the series of events that led to his elder brother's death, earning him the epithet amongst his clan as the 'Naoh'to the Bloodtraitor'. In terms of more minor regrets, Naoh'to truly regrets not having paid more attention and learned more from his mentor before his passing. Combat Skills As a Keeper of the Moon, born and raised in the Black Shroud, Naoh'to was taught how to use the typical weaponry of the hunt from an early age. Specifically, he came to be rather proficient with the shortbow, which was a skill that he carried over into his transition into banditry in his early adult years. However, in more recent years, he's focused less on combat and more on business. His skills have deteriorated a bit because of it, but he would still be competent enough to fight on a basic level should the need arise. Last Updated:  March 25th, 2014. Feel free to tell me in-game or message me on the RPC website to add some. ___[ Miscellaneous Information ]___ RP Style & Preferences I tossed up this table of information here for those curious. This is just a list of my stances on things such as chat modes, handling certain themes in RP, and consent levels for things such as death, detainment, etc. So if you're interested in establishing a long-term RP rapport with Naoh'to, then this may be useful! RP Style & Preferences Chat Modes I'm equally comfortable with private modes of RP (party chat, tells, etc.) and open /say roleplay.  Therefore, if you have any specific preference, let me know beforehand!  However, note that if you want to /tell RP, please let me know first.  Otherwise, all /tells I receive out of the blue are considered to be OOC! Walk-Ups Generally speaking, I'm 100% okay and even welcome walk-up RPs!  However, there are some exceptions, which you can usually denote by checking my in-game status icon next to my name.  For more details on what the icons mean, see the section below. Family & Backstory Relationships Currently, I'm not actively seeking anyone to play family members for Naoh'to. His only close family member - his brother - has been dead for some time now, anyway. It is entirely possible that he has sisters or cousins, but if he did, he was never especially close to any of them. So if you're interested in playing one, I'm open to discussion. Likewise, if you're interested in playing any other figure from Nao's past / backstory, then let me know what you're thinking. Romantic Relationships I'm not opposed to romantic relationships coming up in RP. However, I am also not excited about the thought of romantically-themed RP constituting the majority of the RP I do.  Pre-planning romantic developments between two characters outright also doesn't settle well with me. Basically, my philosophy is this:  We let the characters interact and see where it goes naturally.  Mature Themes Much like with romantic relationships, I follow the rule of 'if mature themes happen naturally in an RP, they are fair game'. That said, even though Naoh'to is an admittedly sexual person, I am often not up for RP of a sexual nature and generally prefer Fade-to-Black once a scene gets past a little touchy-feely. In terms of violence and darker themes of questionable morality, bring it on! Combat RP Admittedly, combat isn't my favorite type of RP. But again.. If it comes up naturally in the flow of a scene, I'll play it out. Combat RP for the sake of combat, though, is not my particular cup of tea. If a fight does break out, I expect us to operate on the expectations of realism and courtesy. Don't aut0-hit, godmode, meta-game, control my character, etc. Basically, just don't be a jerk about it! OOC Consent Level (death, detainment, etc.) I'll preface this by saying:  Yes, my character has questionable morals and routinely breaks the law - it's his job. With that said, I would appreciate a heads-up if your character intends to arrest or otherwise detain or punish him. I'm not saying that I don't want it to happen ever. But I would just like the OOC courtesy of a forewarning, because when it comes down to it, Nao's business ICly is very low-profile and secretive. It would not make OOC sense to have people arresting him every other day.. and it would not be fun for me, as a player. Likewise, I'll always ask for your OOC permission if I ever have Nao do something that will significantly impact your character - whether it's stealing, injuries, etc - and would ask that you do the same for me. Finally - no, I do not consent to this character's death at this time. Future? Maybe. Now? Absolutely not. In-Game Icons & RP Status I use the in-game status icons to denote my current roleplaying status when I am online and about. Here's a guide for what the icons mean, in my case: In-Game Status Icons No Icon  /  Duty Finder Open to RP. If this is my status, I'm open for RP (including walk-ups), though I'm not actively IC. Essentially, what this means is that I am open for RP, but I may be doing other OOC things -- watch livestreams, doing dungeons, etc. -- in the meantime. So if you throw a post at me in this state and it goes unanswered, send me a /tell to make sure I saw it. I might've missed it! Don't let the Duty Finder icon scare you away, either. Looking for Party Looking  for RP! If my status is set to 'Looking for Party', then that means I am actively looking to engage in RP.
