Nasrinne Sharpsong

Name; Nasrinne de Filois
Alias; Nasrinne Sharpsong
Age; Late twenties
Gender; Female
Race; Elezen
Region; Ishgard
Nationality; Coerthan
Occupation; Jack of All Trades
Alignment; Chaotic Neutral

Nasrinne is exceptionally short for an Elezen (184.4 cm) with a heart-shaped face and slightly chubby cheeks. Overall however, she possesses a lean and muscular frame as is to be expected of an archer and ranger of outstanding skill. She has pale, creamy coloured skin and dark, almost black hair that holds a hint of indigo. Her eyes are a similar shade of dark, inky blue. She wears her hair with a very short undercut that allows her to flip it all over to the left side of her head, keeping her right eye clear for aiming with her bow. She favours light-weight leathers and chain armours when fighting. Her preference is always for pants and boots, but she has been known to wear clothes more expected of a noble woman from time to time.

Pronunciation --- The phonetic pronunciation for Nasrinne is Nas-rin, although she is used to people using a hard s (Naz-rin). The phonetic pronunciation for Filois is Fil-wa.

Distinguishing Features Nasrinne has a scar on her ribs from where she was stabbed by a Miqo'te, around two and a half years ago. (Being of Ishgardian upbringing, it is obviously not often seen.)

Common Habits --- Nasrinne will fidget with whatever is handy when she is anxious or nervous. If there is no object available to her, she’ll fiddle with her hair. She has a customary habit of drawing a breath before she speaks when she is concerned about the content of what she’s about to say and wrestling with the idea of saying it. This trait in and of itself is not a tell, because Nasrinne is just as likely to deliver a lie afterward, as the truth. It is very much just a ritual to force her mind to slow down.

Growing up in the Western Highlands, Nasrinne finds a lot of the propriety of the Pillars boring at the best of times and frustrating at the worst. Most people who have spent a good deal of time with her will attest to her usually affable nature and good, albeit it dry, sense of humour, traits she has been in possession of since childhood. She is always the first to offer help to her friends or family when it's needed, but never lauds the aid she gives over others afterwards. Nasrinne is not really one for decorum, and tires of it quickly, preferring to be honest and frank speaking. She tries not to take herself too seriously, although she does not enjoy others looking down on her. She was not overly studious as a child but always liked to read as a pastime and would consider it one of her primary hobbies as an adult, she is a much more avid scholar now than she ever was as a child. However, she is gifted with a sharp mind, a keen memory and a clever tongue. All of which make sense when you consider her natural aptitude for music and song. Nasrinne has always had a beautiful singing voice and was coached to perform from an early age at dinner parties and balls that her family attended in the Western Highlands. Although she loves to sing, she loathes performing for nobles, whom she considers a stiff audience. Soldiers, however, rarely have any trouble coaxing a song from Nasrinne.

Most notably, and thanks to her dislike for the rigid traditions of the nobility in Ishgard, Nasrinne is a good actress and a great liar. It was a skill acquired mostly so she could learn to tolerate social functions and behave appropriately without embarassing her family, but she still puts it to good use when she feels she has to. As a result she is able to present as easy-going most of the time, even when she is not in the most agreeable of moods. Because she is a good liar, she is therefore usually quite good at picking out when others are lying. She has a strong moral compass and as a result her loyalty and sense of justice are easily her most defining mental strengths, however her moral compass is not defined by any religious scriptures or social norms but her own code of ethics. She is also brave, almost to a fault. Which serves as a strength in nearly all situations, but sometimes causes her problems because it means she’s not really afraid to do or say things others wouldn’t.

  • Nasrinne’s favourite food is pastry fish. But she isn’t an overly fussy eater.
  • Despite the perpetuity of the snow in Coerthas and Ishgard and the circumstances that brought it to them, one of Nasrinne’s favourite things in the world is watching the gentle tumbling of snowflakes.
  • Her favourite colour is purple, which happens to be the colour of one of her favourite flowers, lily of the valley. (Though she doesn’t wear purple often.)

  • Nasrinne hates soup, especially, the Ishgardian variety. (Although she finds the kinds in Hingashi more tolerable, she still doesn't really like them.)
  • Though she plays it when asked, she doesn’t enjoy chess.
  • She hates spiders (see fears.)

  • Loneliness, since the death of most of her family, all of whom she was close to, Nasrinne has found feelings of isolation and loneliness quite difficult to cope with. She is especially fearful of anything happening to her partner, Pascalle or her Sister Ygrinne, and her husband and children.
  • Nasrinne is not exactly what she appears to be on the surface, as a result she is quite afraid of being caught out in the act of playing at good noble's daughter.
  • She holds a secret fear of spiders which she thinks far too girly for anyone to believe, considering her reputation.

Other Trivia

  • Her chocobo is called Softbeak, and she raised her from a chick.
  • Nasrinne has an excellent knowledge of edible wild plants in both Ishgard and foreign nations, having studied botany as a child and kept it up as an adult.
  • She’s light on her feet, but Nasrinne is usually too nervous around nobles to be a really good dancer; Unless of course, she’s also performing a song and then there is an element of routine that cancels out her nerves.

Jhulayne de Filois ( ) ( NPC ) - Jhuls
It is no secret to anyone who knows her well, how much she adored her brother Jhulayne. She doted on him regularly, and the two were like peas in a pod, absolutely inseparable in their early years. Their relationship grew into a strong friendship with plenty of good-natured teasing and banter as the two shared a similar sense of humour. Jhulayne was hugely influential in Nasrinne’s life, most of her ideals about loyalty, courage and right and wrong are in truth, Jhulayne’s ideals which he inadvertently passed on to her. There was no one in the world who Nasrinne trusted more than her brother.
Ygrinne de Vernisse ( ) ( NPC ) - Yggy
Ygrinne is married to a Hyurun Merchant, Tristione de Vernisse, who was adopted as a child by a pair of elderly Elezen from a minor noble house folded under House Fortemps. They did give him their name, but he is rarely truly considered a noble amongst many families who hold Court in the Pillars. (Tristione de Vernisse is however, a very rich man and the de Filois parents saw no reason to stop their country daughter from marrying a rich city boy if she was in love.)

They have three children, Violette, who was born when Nasrinne was seven and recently married to a fellow merchant from the Shroud. Demetre, and Henri are Ygrinne’s two sons, aged around 17 and 11 respectively. Nasrinne gets on well with her sister and her sister’s family, although she did not see them regularly until after the Calamity.

Mintori Tojori ( ) ( NPC ) - Minnie
Nasrinne's and Pascalle's close friend and sometimes business associate. Mintori is a resourceful Lalafell based in Ul'dah with a shrewd mind for business, and a keen ear and eye for quality. (Be it information or dinner recommendations.) When it comes to those who come fishing for gossip about his clients, however, he may as well have a lead tongue.
Snads ( ) ( NPC ) - Just Snads
Snads is the litlle brother that Nasrinne never had. The son of an Ul'dahn prostitute on his way to becoming a savvy young rougue. Nasrinne crossed paths with the young boy when he was just twelve or thirteen (he's probably about fifteen now) while undertaking some investigative work in the city. Nasrinne has had Mintori keep a close eye on Snads, and his little sister, Pawa ever since to make sure they safe and healthy. She visits as often as she's able.
Lord Arnor Tabor ( ) ( NPC ) - Lord Arnor
More of a self-styled Lord really. Arnor Tabor is a pirate from Limsa Lominsa who has proved to be an ally to Nasrinne and Pascalle in the past.

Pascalle Dubois ( ) ( PC ) - Pas
A former Temple Knight with a heart of gold. Jhulayne's best friend, and quite likely Nasrinne's favourite person in all existence. Pascalle and Nasrinne's relationship is highly unorthodox for Ishgardians, in that despite being romantically involved for some time, they've never married. Learn more about Pascalle here
Raine Endarin ( ) ( PC ) - Lady Raine
Lady Raine is one of the few Ishgardian's that Nasrinne considers a friend, however she is also her employer, which means Nasrinne is careful what she shares with her. That said, she thinks Lady Raine is an inordinately kind and graceful person and is thoroughly grateful for the opportunities and friendship that she's extended to her. Even if Raine herself isn't quite wholly aware of just how important they are to Nasrinne. Learn more about Raine here
Shas’shil Onfrai ( ) ( PC ) - Shas'shil
An Au Ra who grew up in the Dravanian Forelands, Shas'shil is one of the friends Nasrinne has made since her return to Ishgard. In her opinion, Shas'shil is a magitek genius and Nasrinne finds her delightful to speak with. Although they've only recently become acquainted, she is already developing a soft-spot for the Xalea, (who seems to enjoy conversational tangents almost as much as she does.) Nasrinne hopes the two will become fast friends. Learn more about Shas'shil here
Esredes Rosemond ( ) ( PC ) - Blue
Esredes Rosemond; or as Nasrinne calls him, Blue, is a not quite friend, although he is closer to a friend than an enemy. The two did not get off on the best foot. Their interactions since have been civil (for the most part.) Both parties have developed a beautiful misunderstanding about one another which is yet to see any clear resolution. While she wouldn't consider the two of them more than reluctant acquaintences, Nasrinne does consider Blue something of an ally, at least she believes they share in a common goal for the redevelopment of Ishgard.

Brief History

Born of Ishgard and the Coerthas Highlands, Nasrinne de Filois is more commonly known by her Epithet; Nasrinne Sharpsong. Now and then you may catch someone who knew her in the past use some old honorifics, like Ser Nasrinne, (though she's never actually been a knight,) or Lady Filois (which she is not overly fond of.) But most likely you’ll hear people simply call her Nas or Naz, depending on their intonation. She’s trained as an archer, and a bard. Not to mention she’s got more than a cursory knowledge of botany. She might be of short stature with a sweet smile, but don't let that fool you. Nasrinne is quick, and canny as they come. She didn't earn the name "Sharpsong" for nothing. Nasrinne left Ishgard and began travelling two years ago, eventually settling in Shirogane. She earns her coin working as both a relic hunter for the Arcana Obscura, and as a freelance adventurer for the Twin Adders, the Grand Company which she has the most affiliation with as a result of her late older brother's diplomatic work. Her work gave her plenty of reason to travel, and although she made no secret of the fact that it was once her home, she had no plans to return to Foundation or the snowy mountain range of Coerthas. That was until the restoration began. Now, something has brought her back, but whether that's her family or the firmament is anyone's guess. You might find her fondly recounting a story about hunting rabbits with her older brother; back when the summer grass grew long and the fields would turn to gold. But summer no longer comes to Coerthas, and Nasrinne will tell you that her story is no different from most leftover after the events of the Calamity and the Dragonsong War. Not much left in the way of family to speak of. Just one sister. (Alive and happily married with children.) The only other Ishgardian she counts as family, Pascalle de Dubois, travels with her.

House Filois

The Filois are a young (104 years old at the time of the Calamity) and minor noble house. The House was raised to noble status by House Fortemps after Ser Orbynne Filois, Nasrinne’s Great Grandfather’s service to the High house during the Autumn War. After the Autumn War, the Filois looked after Fortemps family holdings in Western Coerthas, where they had been granted a small amount of land. The family were well-known prior to the Calamity for their breeding and training of chocobos. As the last born daughter of House Filois, Nasrinne's main duty to her family was to get married. (One which she continues to fail to fulfil, despite her sister's nagging.) Her education as a child included chocobo riding, archery, history, hunting, botany and both the flute and the harp.

Family Crest

Bone on a bend wavy. Or one wake and ormond knot. Rolanberrye between two rustres. Rolanberrye on the senester chief, one unicorn couchant guardant; Or hoofed Argent. Rolanberrye on the estucheon, one double-rose; Or twicebloom.
The Filois Crest is rolanberry with a bone white wavy bend through the centre, held up by two chocobos (supporters), the charges include a wake ormand knot in the centre representing loyalty and vigilance. Either side of the wake are two rusture lozenge which represent virtue. The charges on the shield are a unicorn wearing a crown around it’s neck with a silver chain, which represents the Filois family allegiance to the Fortemps house. The other is a double-rose, which symbolises virtue. The mantle is the leaves of the laurel. Each symbol coincides with the Filois family motto, which was Loyalty, Vigilance and Virtue.

You can find the RP playlist I curate with Pascalle on Spotify here. We choose songs that we feel really capture Pascalle and Nasrinne's aesthetic, either because of the lyrics or the energy. Although everything on there is related to our characters or scenes we've roleplayed, below are a few selections from it.

Personal RP Limits

I will play Mature content and themes (violence, mild sexual themes, drug / alcohol use) as long as they're logical, and part of a plot-driven encounter. Coarse and excessive language are fine. I'm happy to engage in most walk-up encounters as long as I have the RP tag active in game.
Ask about Temporary injury and incapacitation or temporary capture and imprisonment. Long-term and/or permanent injury and disfigurement. Long-term captivity or imprisonment.
I won't play Any erotic rp, permanent character death or rape plots.
