[edit] Details Personality Relationships Rumors Gallery OOC Notes GENERAL INFORMATION A misfit Miqo’te whom speaks and acts more like the Hyuran population of Ul’dah than his typically semi-tribal Seeker kin. For good reason as well. Found on a scorching hot day in the Thanalan deserts as a mere infant, his deceased mother not far from where he was being sheltered. A young couple of Hyur merchants on their routine trading took pity on the plight of the apparently orphaned Miqo’te and took him in as their own, having struggled to conceive a child of their own for years. They named him Percival, unintentionally misreading foreign scrawling on parchment sheets found in his carrying basket as being some sort of identity for the infant. As a result the young Percival has mostly been raised in the urban locales of Ul’dah, culturally and behaviourally in common with the kindly Hyuran family who adopted him. The Rookthorne merchants of Ul’dah, while by no means Syndicate levels of affluence are a decently well off family of traders, with their versatility in trades and services contributing for their wealth, with an eclectic mix of mining, caravans, exotic luxury goods and logistics being their main reserves of riches. Their primary trading areas are Thanalan and La Loscea, with a smaller level going through the Black Shroud. As a result Percival has been raised around trade and mercantilist culture for most of his life, imparting a certain touch on his behaviour and skills, not to mention a decent understanding of many areas around Eorzea. Ontop of his trading background, during his childhood it was found Percival had an innate knack for the arts of Thaumaturgy, and was sent to study with them from the earliest age possible. It has been said by his adoptive mother to him that his shining silver eye was a sign of his potential with magic. An accomplished Thaumaturge his ability in aetheric manipulation is significant. APPEARANCE Short in stature, at roughly 5 fulms and 5 ilms, he does not strike an imposing figure and can easily move amongst a crowd and disappear. His natural Miqo’te biology lends to him a distinctly athletic and healthy build. Unlike many he is not quite as svelte as his kin, being somewhat more robust in musculature, especially on his arms and legs. His hair is similar to his eyes, two toned. A lighter and a darker golden mane of hair is brushed with some effort into a tidy, bush mop of hair, the fairer strands of hair shining in the Thanalan sun. He has a shortly cropped but luscious beard of similar tone as well on his face. His tail, distinct from being bushy and fluffy as some other Miqo’te is more slender and sleek, with a measure of prehensile control to it. His eyes themselves are striking, wild almost in look. His right eye, a stark silvery grey and the left a flaming orange, like a smouldering ember. Which of the eyes is the “magic” one however has been open to interpretation. He is however scarred over his right eye, by unknown means. In more recent years, as part of his yearning to learn more about his people he has even taken to having tattoos placed on his face, although they are not as genuine as the ones done by the various Seeker tribes. His style of dress is usually casual, although generally with signs of his wealth being present. A lover of jewellery and ornamentation, rings and necklaces, bracelets and anklets are always seen on him. His clothing generally also tends itself for baring his tanned, almost bronze coloured skin off to the sunlight. His ears are pierced with gemstone loops and his navel with a band of silver. The scent of strong perfumes generally linger around him as well. Aspects That Stand Out: ■ Shorter While Miqo'te are not blessed with great stature usually he is quite on the shorter side, his build does not suffer however. ■ Two-coloured eyes His left eye is a a smouldering orange while his right is a gleaming silver. Which one is the magic eye? ■ A Hyur in Cat's clothing He dresses and behaves like a Hyuran. PERSONALITY Being raised by Hyur, he has more in common with Hyuran culture than his native Seeker Miqo’te people. In general he is highly affable and sociable, usually one to break tensions and chilling within a conversation. His propensity to make friends easily works well for his merchant background, along with his knack for solving disputes and making a deal. A wry and often dry sense of humour comes from him usually, especially after several drinks. A sense of impulsiveness and recklessness often follows him, the sort to act on a whim simply because he feels like experiencing it. A Bon Vivant in outlook, he does not shy away from over consumption and over indulgence, even if regret may come afterwards. To the casual viewer he may come across as overly laidback to the point of indolence. L I K E S ■ Eating. A glutton in many ways, if there is food on the go he will take a bite out of it. Something of a talent for eating and drinking his own bodyweight in food and alchohol. ■ Social Butterfly. Unlike many Miqo’te men, he revels in social interaction, with anyone and anything practically. He particularly enjoys trying to break people out of social isolation and warm them up. ■ Fun Pursuer. Hand in hand with socialising, he has a propensity for playing game. Ranging from gambling to games of strategy all the way to simple riddling and dare-seeking. ■ Bookish. While not appearing to look it on the surface he does enjoy calmer and more mentally enriching activities such as reading and studying. In particular group studying is one of his greatest pleasures, to interact with wise and learned minds. ■ Fishing. while an amateur he has always loved fishing, claiming it must be some sort of primeval instinct inside him to go angling.
