Physical Description
Standing just shy of 6 fulm, of sturdy build and weight, Piaras is by no means a giant of a man. Sporting a mane of silken, chocolate-hued hair down to his upper-back, Piaras tends to wear his locks down, or in some cases, a loose ponytail. His hair is often the envy of many women he encounters. Piaras keeps his facial hair well-trimmed in a short goatee style. While Piaras's body language shows a cool, collected relaxation, it is very clear to those with a skilled eye that he moves with the deliberate, fluid grace of a quiet apex predator. A fairly handsome man, Piaras's features tend toward the weathered and rugged sort, clearly a man of experience, though the youth and energy he radiates make him seem far younger than his age of 30.
Personality
Polite and well-spoken around strangers. Casual, vulgar, and occasionally lewd with close friends. Cool, calculating, able to think on the fly and adapt to many situations. Slow to anger, though those who earn his ire quickly come to regret it. Compassionate, generous, would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it badly enough.
History
Born on the border of the Coerthas Central Highlands and the North Shroud, son to a Hunter and a Tailor, Piaras and his four younger siblings were well-educated from an early age. Despite his family being lower class, Hyur, and without title or nobility, each of his parents' children was taught common courtesy, common sense, and practicality. Armed with a set of strong morals, the family itself never quite bought into the Ishgardian Orthodox Church, instead choosing to forge their own path in being decent to ones' neighbors, kind, and compassionate in all things. It was this very decision that would drive his family to ruin.
It didn't take more than a few years for the Inquisitors to investigate his family who resided on a homestead deep in the Wolfwood, a small, dense forest on the border of the North Shroud. It was during this "investigation" that his family fled into the woods, traveling light and fast with naught else but a small chocobo cart to transport the children while Piaras and his parents ran on foot. His family knew well the sort of "justice" that the Inquisitors brought with them, and that guilty or innocent, there was little chance any of his family would survive the encounter.
During their flight from the Wolfwood, his family stumbled into a small scouting force of the Dravanian Horde. Piaras never speaks of what happened, only that he lost his father that night, and barely escaping with their lives, the rest of his siblings and mother made it to Gridania after a long and harrowing journey. Piaras was barely eleven years old then, and much of his past remains a monotony of hard work to support his mother and family, taking odd jobs and finding himself drawn more and more toward the Lancers' Guild and the heritage of his people; the Dragoons. Upon turning sixteen, Piaras enlisted in the Lancers' Guild, applying his intelligence and skills with a polearm to tasks more suited to his goals, as ever, sending his spare gil home to his family.
It was during his twenty-third year of life that Piaras participated in The Battle of Carteneau, and though he fought bravely and felled many Garlean soldiers, he was among the lucky few to be whisked away by Louisoix Leveilleur's teleportation spell before Bahamut laid waste to the battlefield.
Five years later, Piaras resurfaced with the other heroes of Carteneau. Piaras returned home to his astonished family living a comfortable life on the gil Piaras had sent to his mother over his years as a Lancer. After spending a month with those he loved most, Piaras departed once again, this time for the now-frozen northlands of Coerthas, his former homeland. Piaras rarely speaks of anything that happened during that time, though it is assumed he found a mentor in that frigid wilderness and learned the techniques of his favored class; the Dragoon. He spent close to a year following his path, hunting members of the Dravanian Horde and slaking his never-ending thirst for vengeance against all dragon-kind.
It wasn't until present day that Piaras came back into active duty, his purpose re-invented. Following the very recent death of his mother to a wasting sickness, his drive was to create something grand; a free company filled with fellow like-minded adventurers and friends.
